Believe it or not, there are actually rational ways to defeat the Reapers. And I'm not just talking about a Prothean superweapon or a deus ex machina that nobody knows about yet. There are plenty of creative and logical strategies to defeat an army of sentient warships, as long as you apply some critical thinking.

1) Use their own technology against them.
We've already reverse-engineered the Thanix Cannon from Sovereign, and that took down the Collector Ship (certified Reaper tech) in two shots. With a few more destroyed Reapers to salvage, and the fact that the Alliance has co-opted some of the Normandy's tech, we could be looking at an army of these things. And if the Collector Base plays a role, and we manage to create a fleet of somehow allied/controllable Reapers, they would probably be able to pound the crap out of their siblings.

2) Use Shepard as bait.
This wouldn't be possible every time, but it worked in ME1. When Shepard defeated Saren in the Citadel, he caused Sovereign to expend a large amount of energy to possess his corpse (Harbringer style) and fight on. Then, when the Saren husk was defeated, Sovereign's shields shut down and the Normandy finished it off. Coincidence? Maybe, but probably not, considering its parallels in ME2 with the Collector General. If Shepard can lure a Reaper into directly possessing a thrall (splitting its hive mind, in other words) and killing it, that Reaper can probably be taken out by a direct strike. This'll probably be the case for Harbringer.

3) Go for the core.
We already managed to take out a Derelict Reaper by firing heavy weapons into its mass effect core. Assuming the strike team is good enough (krogan, Spectres, some geth and rachni), and they've got some strong explosives, why couldn't they infiltrate a live Reaper and do the same? A few grenades worked fine on the Collector Base.

4) Manipulate their synthetics.
Considering the Reapers are all mostly robotic, with hive minds similar to that of the Geth, who's to say we can't co-opt a form of the heretic virus against them? Converting or shutting down Reaper minds would be an easy and nonviolent method of destruction.

5) Sheer, overwhelming force of numbers.
The galaxy is huge, and is populated by a ton of species with a ton of ships. A massive galactic armada composed of dreadnoughts, cruisers, gunships, fighters, strike teams, and warriors from EVERYWHERE may just be enough, with plenty of sacrifice, to take them down once and for all. It looks like ME3 is going to revolve primarily around this method of destruction.

6) Shoot Wrex out of a cannon, preferably riding a thresher maw. Simultaneously, Conrad Verner, Blasto, the Biotic God, the Turian counselor, and the Space hamster will brofist, creating a shockwave of destruction that wins the galaxy and the extranets.

So are any of these likely? Or even possible? Post your responses and your own ideas, and if enough people agree with them I'll add them to the ones listed. Hopefully number six will take care of most of the memes. :innocent:

You forgot:

7) Manipulate the Relays. The Relays need information from ships (their Mass), so what would happen to a ship weighing 500 Tonnes if the Relay thought it weighed 50 Tonnes?

8) Fail to check if other threads like this already exist, and give the Reapers an aneurysm as they try to comprehend your lack of logic.
