I just purchased DAII and have installed everything properly. I try to play the game, but when I click the 'play' button in startup, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. The mouse pointer says it's loading but nothing happens. I've scanned the forums for help but have found nothing useful. If someone could link to a thread solving this or provide a solution, I'd be very greatful.

Everything around here is running very slowly.  Almost everyone has been outdoors now that the weather is warmer, and weekends are the worst.  There isn't much to see just scanning a few pages of the indexed message traffic here.  Sadly, the on-site search is garbage, and priority for improving it seems to be zero.  However, you can easily add a site redirector to a list of search criteria for Google or Yahoo, to have them search in here and find just what you need.

Just add this ~~  site:social.bioware.com

If nothing turns up that seems to help, and you want to try again to see if any gamers come through the place on Monday who have an answer, perhaps, then I would suggest that you expand your problem report.  Pinned atop the forum is a "Sticky" to help you with reporting.  I wrote it.  It discusses searching also.

With the added information we will need, as described in the sticky, perhaps someone can offer some assistance.

You may start by looking in the My Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age 2 directory for a log file and see if any problem is reported there.

Thank you for this, because I discovered that this is the source of my problem, but do you know how to fix it? Must I reinstall the game, or can I simply move some files?

You could have read my answer, and completed a proper report already, but you chose not to do that, so you are unlikely to get a helpful answer.  I am not  referring to answers I might offer.  That is a matter of actual fact, not opinion, and not rudeness.  No one can answer you without the necessary information.

I meant you could try to find the log file in the given location that documents how your DA program executed. Usually it is in the Logs subdirectory and is called like DragonAge_1.log. It should be like one shown in the thread:

How could you have known if I had read your note and followed your instructions or not? There is no need to be rude. I had very little time this morning, so I wasn't able to fully read your reply and follow it thouroghly, but I will do so in a while. Thank you for your help.^_^

System Specs:
Processor- AMD C-50 Processor
Clock speed- 993 MHz
Physical Memory: 1.72 GB
Display Adapter- AMD Radeon HD 6200 series
Driver version: Catalyst
VRAM- 256 MB
Sound Adapter: Speakers (Contextant HD Audio)
Driver version-8.41.0.0
Operating system-Windows 7.
Patch 1.03 is also installed. Graphics (and audio?) drivers have been updated.

One thread about the same problem is totally sufficient. This one remains incomplete, and therefore cannot be answered with absolute certainty yet.

www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6250.40958.0.html

Meanwhile, there is zero support  for onboard Chipset video chip graphics, which is what you appear to have in your little mini-PC, along with an extremely slow (possibly a Bobcat in a "Brazos" APU) processor.  The directions for completing a problem report include the System Requirements, and so does the box that the game comes in.

www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-C-50-Notebook-Processor.40960.0.html

      Minimum:
OS: Windows XP 32-bit with SP3
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit with SP2
      OS: Windows 7
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz or greater
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (or equivalent) running at 1.8 GHz
              or greater

RAM: 1 GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Video: Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB (should be 2600 XT or X1800
             GTO)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB cards (unless this should be
             7800 GS)
Disc Drive: DVD ROM drive required
      Hard Drive: 7 GB
Sound: Direct X 9.0c Compatible Sound Card Windows Experience
             Index: 4.5

Um, thanks, but i just got a reply from Bioware about my problem and am trying to fix it with their simple instructions, and it's really funny because I just learned how to find my system specs (the real ones) only a minute ago, but I don't think I need further assistance. Thank you,

Good luck; we can hope that you held onto a decent desktop PC when you decided to pick up the micro-mini sub-PC Netbook machine, but there is no "support" from Bioware, so you'll have to figure out who you were in contact with.  EA?

The very earliest of the AMD "Fusion" chips were totally redesigned for the 40 nm wafers, instead of the 32 nm that was the original plan.  This reduced the relative power of the graphics chip that was originally going to be integrated into the processor, from an equivilant to an HD 5450, to something less than that, but the CPU was always going to be low-end because battery life was a paramount feature the design aimed for.

NetBooks are different from full-power PCs.  The "Brazos" was never intended for game play.

Technically speaking, the redesigned "Llano" APUs for the Mid-Market aren't really intended to be that powerful, either, but will be able to match a discrete HD 6450.
