And it can fly, can't it! At least fall slowly. I wish we could keep it forever, do you think we can keep it? Probably not going to happen, it's staying on Sur'Kesh for gameplay reasons. Nonono, I want to keep it forever! Surely the pilot isn't going to die in vain?
Really, I both can't wait to kill the pilot and can't bring myself to do it. Can we at least remove the mask and see his face? Probably not. But I'm looking forward to dancing with Atlas and seeing more of its moves.
If Atlas is going to die heroically on Sur'Kesh, I'm going to mourn both it and the pilot. Maybe it will commit the last act of heroic sacrifice, like holding a roof falling on their heads, as Shepard fixes it in position, climbs out and escapes with the crew. What do you think?

Put it this way, I hope that isn't the only mission where we get to see them

From how they've been talking up the Atlus mech, I'm sure they won't restrict it to only one missionSir Ulrich Von Lichenstien wrote...
I'm kind of curious as to just how much time we'll get playing in it. From what we saw in that demo I'd say that looks like it is a fair bit near the end of that mission, I'm going to guess some more Cerberus troops appear just after that cut-scene otherwise it makes having a go at getting into the Atlas a bit pointless.

Seriously.
It's supposed to be a mobile weapons platform, but it seems designed to tackle the very type of units it is extremely vulnerable towards in actual warfare(infantry).
It's big and cumbersome, and got a pretty big bullseye in the open cockpit.
It looks more like the type of thing you would field against unarmed masses just to mow them down, and not against actual troops wielding up to date weapons.
Urban warfare? Too vulnerable from fire in the same way that contemporary tanks are vulnerable and needs infantry protection.
Forrests? Same thing as above.
Open fields? extremely vulnerable because of their shape and speed, so definately a no go scenario.
So, why would an arms manufacturer actually decide to design these things, let alone why would someone trying to outfit an army decide to spend money on getting them instead of other arms?

You know, the one thing I want from the Atlas mech is for someone to have a smart arse line (probably either from Garrus or Shephard him/herself) that it would have made the SM a lot 'easier' if they had one of those at the time.
It would have gotten blown to bits faster than you could say "What the F was that?"
It's not exactly the easiest thing to try and hide behind cover

ATLAS is very viable when enemy can't ambush or flank you.
And a scenario against super mobile infantry (they can fly, remember) units in a territory you have no intel about but the enemy is intimately familiar with sounds like such a scenario to you?
I'd have been a walking deathtrap to the pilot.
