I would want Samara for her biotics and skill with assault rifles and probably Miranda for her skills and being such a good tactician

Liara and Garrus: The two most loyal characters in the series. Besides only a few humans have ever faced an asari commando unit! : )

Since it seems it'd basically be a Shepard fight with you instead of Shepard (I was expecting a modern, real street fight kind of scenario, for some reason...).

Same as on Shepard, Team Dextro. Can't argue with Loyalty, Shotguns and Results.

Garrus and Thane are pretty good in a fight. Grunt is all right too, but he just doesn't have the same composure that Wrex did. Him and Garrus made such a good team...

Assuming that I have a gun... I'd chose Liara and Tali. Liara has great biotics and Tali could assault them with her omnitool (assuming that she has the same powers she had in the first game).

people keep saying zaeed's stories usually involve him being the only survivor. what stories are those? the only story I heard where he's the last person standing is when he took out that turian warship from the inside.

Well in real life I find it hard to believe anyone on these forums would really be able to take any professional soldiers or whatever it is we are meant to be facing, so its really which two could take on the enemy by themselves.. So grunt and wrex

I'd pick people that I knew I could trust. Any combination of:

Tali
Garrus
Jacob
Samara
Kaidan
Ashley
Liara

Garrus and Jacob, for their experience, professionalism and loyalty, though Jacob would have to lose the shotgun and gain an assault rifle because shotguns are useless in a firefight. Thane would also be a good choice, as would Ashley and Kaidan.

In a real firefight I think most of the ME squadmates wouldn't be suitable.

...shotguns are useless in a firefight?

Poor range. Firefights aren't generally fought at a range within which it would be practical to use shotguns. They are more useful for CQB.

Er... Im fairly certain short range shotguns are actually a video game thing, not how they are in real life.

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia....n#Effectiveness
The buckshot typically used in a combat shotgun spreads out to a greater or lesser degree depending on the barrel choke, and can be effective at ranges as far as 70 m (75 yards). The delivery of the large number of projectiles simultaneously makes the shotgun the most effective short range weapon commonly used, with a hit probability 45% greater than a submachine gun, and twice as great as an assault rifle.

While 70 meters isn't long range, it's certainly not what would be called "close quarters' either. For comparison a pistol averages a range of about 46 meters(50 yards), and an assault rifle has a range of at least 300 meters(although whether a person can be very accurate at that distance is another thing)

Garrus and Grunt. Those two have gotten me through Insanity on my Adept - they can do anything.

I'd prefer an assault rifle for range and magazine capacity. Even seventy metres is a reasonably close ranged firefight, and you generally don't have too much time to pick out a target to make use of the extra power. The objective in a firefight is not neccessarily to kill, but to keep the enemies heads down.

Playing another class except "soldier" makes absolutely no difference in story. Also new LV4 "give all squad members this ammo type" powers make Soldier class a dumb choice and the game itself a shooter game, not a Mass Effect game. Imho Adapt is the best class, allows more options for user and gives me belief that I really accomplish something  in Mass Effect universe.

I would have taken Ashley if she had been usable in ME2, so my choices are;

against Mechs:

Tali-Garrus

against Humanoid enemy:

Mordin-Kasumi

against Reapers:

Wrex-Garrus

Garrus and Mordin.

I would say Grunt but in a REAL firefight Grunt would think of me as a weakling.

nah, you don't want to keep the enemy's head down, because eventually you run out of ammo. the only reason suppresive fire is used is to provide cover for another maneuver such as retreat or advance. in paintball I usually get someone to lay down suppresive fire so I can get across open lad without getting shot.

Were i Shepard, I would be torn between a (Miranda/Garrus) Squad or an (Ashley/Wrex) Squad Probably the Miranda team because because between those 2, we have Miranda, who is a close up threat, packs a serious biotic punch and is the whole package squadmate-wise she is like Ash and Liara combined in addition to being brilliant and beautiful which could come in handy for missions which require espionage, and we have Garrus who is loyal, a friggin beast, long range threat, and is definitely the guy you want on your side in a firefight.
