Zaeed and Garus. Use Zaeed's squad disruptor ammo and have him on collector assault rifle. Garus on sniper rifle to give cover fire. Me ,Vanguard, geth shot gun. I charge in and scatter enemy forces, Garus covers Zaeed, and Zaeed picking off stragglers.
Which two squad members would you want to have your back in a real firefight?

Zaeed and Jack. I used to have friends like them before, they're the kind of people I'm most comfortable with.

As much as I like Tali, I would have to go with hardened warriors such as Wrex and Garrus in an intense firefight.

Hmmm...
Jacob and Garrus.
Jacob is a good soldier and I could trust him to stay strong under fire.
Garrus just seems to have fun. XD

Garrus as a sniper at long range and Kasumi as a cloaked close-range knocking guys out left and right. I would be mid-range with my Mattock taking down what they don't get or what gets too close to Kasumi.

A firefight in real life? Seeing as how I don't know how to use a gun...
As much as I'd like to cower behind Wrex or Grunt, they'd honestly despise me for being a weakling and probably just step aside and let me get shot.
Samara is appealing since her biotics would be useful and she'd be compelled to protect me, but she could end up killing me after the fight since I drive way above the speed limit on the freeway. Liara has powerful biotics as well, but I don't know how interested she'd be in protecting me. Especially if the people shooting at us had something she wanted. If Liara wasn't concerned enough about Shepard to check on her after falling out of a window and had no regrets about that salarian informer of hers getting shot, she would not give one crap about me.
Garrus, Kaidan, Jacob, and Ashley all have military training and would probably try to protect me seeing as how I am just a civilian caught up in all of this. Garrus gets bonus points since he'd probably freak out the enemy and he has special tech powers. Jacob has biotics and Kaidan has a mix of biotic and tech. The latter also has some handy healing abilities.
Thane is an expert sniper, can kill a whole lot of people in very little time, has biotic powers, would also freak out the enemy, and would also probably try to protect me seeing as how I'd be an "innocent".
Tali has combat drones, but it's bad news if she gets shot. Legion, on the other hand, is totally cool with that huge hole he has in his torso. And his accuracy rate must be superb.
Mordin can freeze people or set them on fire. He's got that Black Ops training and is also a doctor.
Zaeed and Jack are both loose cannons. Jack's ability to destroy everything in her path is tempting, but f I accidentally happen to get in that path...
Miranda is good in a firefight, has biotic and tech abilities, and has abilities that help make people on her side more awesome. Her lack of armor is worrisome, though. And I doubt she'd really put a lot of effort into protecting me. After all, I don't remember her being too interested in finding survivors on Freedom's Progress.
I think Kaidan, Garrus, Legion, Mordin and Thane would be my major candidates. I'd probably pick Kaidan and Garrus and hope that Mordin was around somewhere to patch me and the other two up if anyone got shot.

Miranda and Garrus - these guys are my go to team in ME2; in fact Garrus is probably my most used character by far in both ME1 and 2 due to his sharpshooting abilities.
As for Miranda - well, she has the lot, skilled with a variety of firearms, multiple biotic abilities - and I'm sure if she were freed from the limitations of the game "world" she would know how to use more than just overload, warp and slam such as her combo attack on the Eclipse sergeant in her LM. Plus the intelligence and tactical/battlefield awareness which I'm sure Garrus would complement.
Plus the obvious eye candy bonus for me
(with Miri, not Garrus), although I would probably have to be real
style about it to avoid a quite nasty backlash.

Kaidan and Garrus they'd at least be likely to try and protect middle class civilians such as myself and while I do know how to use a gun. I've never been in a life or death gunfight in my life so I don't know how useful I'd actually be if push comes to shove. Now if I were obscenely wealthy I could pay Wrex (at least in his me1 days) and Zaeed to guard me but since I'm not filthy rich I'd be unlikely to ever be able to afford them. Also for me Kaidan would be quite the eye candy bonus
