If every character in series will be available
Alyson (vanguard, main. Needs as many casters as possible) - Miranda and Kaidan.
Ingrid (infiltrator, main. Prefer renegad-y squaddies) - Zaeed and Miranda
Angel (engineer. Goes everywhere with friends) - Garrus and Kasumi
Mona (sentinel. Takes only reasonable people) - two of three: Samara, Thane, Kaidan
Ashley (soldier, pro-Cerberus, sometimes acts for the lulz) - Morinth and Ashley
Mark (infiltrator. The hotter girl the better) - Liara and Tali
Max (soldier, tries to prove everyone may do the great thing given the opportunity) - Jack and Jacob
John (soldier, idiotic renegade, my worst import (only Thane, Mordin and Morinth survived the SM)) - Ashley and Liara
Don't know for now where I'm going to use Grunt and Legion and highly doubt Wrex and Mordin will be available

If all armies come together it would make sense for temporary squadmates to be in your team. My favourite ME1 squad was Garrus with Wrex. I hope I can fight the final boss with both of them in my team.

Well, I think that the best option would be if in fact everyone was involved in the final mission (everyones invited to the party, and you control Shepard alone)
if however that is not the case, I'll go with Wrex and Samara.

My LI which is usually Liara and Kaidan!
I'm hoping to be able to switch that though so I can have Kaidan as LI and Liara as my ever faithful squadmate.
Either way though it's going to be them, I always take them to kick Soverign's arse so as with others, it seems only right for us all to finish what we started!

Ash is the LI, and he told her that if the galaxy needs him, he needs her at his side.
Liara is probably my Shep's greatest friend. In a way, she stayed loyal to Shepard' s cause when everyone else gave up and moved on.

Not involving everyone in the end would be a step back (yes, I'm aware you mean the three squaddies you take into whatever "final battle" happens on screen).
But what the heck... why NOT give us everyone if there's some huge on the ground fight. Have all characters - old and new - show up for the battle. They do it in both DA: O and 2.
I want everyone making the final stand with me.

Depending on how well I hold up my part - and who I send... they may live, or die. Everyone involved - each character having a chance to live or die in the final battle for the fate of the galaxy.
