Garrus & Tali... same two who helped beat Saren and were with Shep nearly every single mission (where allowed/possible) in ME2. Garrus is Shepard's love interest and most trusted friend and Tali is like a sister to Shep... it's only right the trio end their story together.

I don't see the viability of a three man team in a large scale battle. They all should be fighting. The ones that aren't directly in your squad should have Kal'Reegar status on Haestrom, meaning that they can die if you don't defend them properly or are moving too slow.
In my squad would be Liara and Wrex if possible. If not Wrex, then Garrus.
