After recently playing through Witcher 2 this week, I was very impressing with the first chapter, which was set in a small town called Flotsam. I personally, have never seen a game that actually gives you the feel of a living, breathing town. People were walking around, carrying out their daliy lives, even going from building to buidling and then moving around in that building, conversing and eating with others etc.
I actually never wanted to leave the little town as it just felt so alive. With this in hand, I have very high expectations of other games now. It has also got me thinking about Mass Effect 3 hub worlds, they are just so static. They just dont feel as real as they could be and this is the case especially when compared to the Witcher.
So whats the point of this post, besides me telling you how impressed I am with the Witcher 2's little town. Well, I just want to see from others if they really liked the system of these people moving around and commenting as you pass, compared to the very static mass effect worlds. If you havent played the game, I suggest you search up flotsam and have a look for yourself, and see what im talking about.
I cant express how much I hope for this sort of system to be implemented into Mass Effect 3, in both the hub worlds and the Normandy, even though it makes people slightly harder to find, it just makes my day when someone does something rather than sits in a chair all day(unless their joker)
Thoughts?

It's never been BW's strength. Taris in KotOR, Citadel, Omega all felt pretty static. Since no one here knows what it's like working for BW, we'll all be wrong when it comes to an explanation on why their worlds feel so dead.

True its a pity really even Gothic2 had a better system, If I remember correctly back in 2002 where every character had an ocupation and social life. Mass effect 1 and 2 had some people wander but other than that they just stood or lent there with one or two of them replaying the same short conversations when ever you got near them.
It would be nice to see people coming and going from shops, bars and work etc Shop workers changing shift, police officers moving through...well crowds would be nice too
For the supposed size and population of some of these places mass effect always seems rather empty and static Ilium was a little better for population size but the main hub was tiny.
Perhaps its an engine/ console memory / fps issue

Flotsam was pretty impressive, and I hope to see more like it in other games but its impossible to know what the worlds will be like in ME3, until we see them.

It could be a matter of system resources. But even assassin's creed does a really good job of having a living, breathing city with lots of crowds and things. It'd be nice to see some more life on the citadel.

I understand the engine for witcher was built for it, unlike mass effects, but it cant be that hard to make a system where people actually do something rather than say "hello commander" all the time when you pass them in the exact same spot

As long as they don't throw in people carrying boxes purposefully walking into me like in Assassin's Creed 2, I'll be ok. But yeah, more interaction and less repetition would be great.

And just where do you think you've seen ME3 hub worlds, to say they're static and less real? All that has been released so far is some video of combat mission levels.
I'm not opposed to voicing criticism but shouldn't we actually see one of ME3's hub worlds before we call them dull? As it stands right now, you're simply making obviously unqualified judgements.

Did u even read my post? im not even commenting on mass effect 3's hub worlds in any state, im stating my hopes for hub worlds to be similar to witchers. Im also saying how static the pervious games hub worlds were, which i have seenmarshalleck wrote...

It would be very hard for the disc to take it, not to mind the console.
FPS issues, Memory, etc.
It would aslo take up a huge space on disk.
