Devsin, a few points.

1) Sovereign did have a need to understand what the Conduit was, because not knowing what the Conduit was only risks disaster from unknown factors. Why didn't the Keepers answer? What else could it have done?

That an automated system not be used for a strategy which does not follow a rigid timetable but general, subjective evaluations is pretty elementary.

The purpose of the Beacons wasn't to tell about the Conduit in particular, but as a warning for future races about the Reapers in general. That we in particular were interested in the Conduit was primarily because Saren was, but the purpose from the Prothean perspective was as a warning.

2) The Keepers ignoring the signal doesn't imply what the Conduit is: ships can, after all, simply fly to the Citadel, both by the relays or even FTL.

3) Sovereign was able to fly into the Citadel itself because Saren was able to stop the Citadel from closing when C-SEC wanted to... and C-SEC control was stopped because Saren was able to bring a significantly large force through the Conduit. No delay, and no Saren to hand over control of the station and close the arms for Sovereign, and either Sovereign gets locked out or remains exposed for far longer.

Your argument about the Collectors is equally slanted in confirmation bias, both exaggerating their abilities and ignoring what purposes they did serve. You also ignore an implication the the Collectors were created because they could not be made into Reapers... an important aspect given the Reapers implicit goals (which you also freely ignore).
