There seems to be a wave of Spammers on the Vault.. They're posting and voting on Modules... stuff about Nike, Electrical goods and Microsoft office. What annoys me is, they're registered members and they're voting aswell...

I've contacted the site Staff, but if others can do the same perhaps something will be done quicker - thanks.

Vault admins will catch it and delete them. What's unusual is I saw a few that had comments that appeared relevant to the content on the page.

I recently had one that had this generic almost relevant comment. If you were glancing through looking it would likely be overlooked, but once you start reading it you quickly discover its a load of crap.

heh, I got hit by one of them buggers a few weeks back. The funny thing is, it voted a "10" on me module, giving it a temporary boost in the rankings.

As mentioned, the site officials, or beyondthepale, will get around to squashing them. Best to just ignore the spammers, and enjoy any module buffing effects before they wear off.

Harumph!

They don't all "buff" the votes, seen some that gave low votes.

And some of those spammy accounts/comments seem to have remained for months, with no obvious report/contact means in sight, or any hint that someone somewhere still gives a hoot.

What are you guys even talking about? Sometimes forums are so crazy.
You have to wonder what kind of people would use them.

Well I don't. Cause I know what kind of people use them. The type of people
who do sports, running, walking, and jumping in their nike  shoes. Usually
shoes are in mens and womens styles but mostly they are for athletic uses.

Sometimes when you have shoes you also need hoodies or boxers to wear
to keep you covered from head to toes. For your head there are many styles of
hats to wear. And toes have been covered by shoes. But also sandals and crocs.

The boots are by Nike, they apply a choke effect on the wearer in the final battle. ;)

The admins have removed the posts now... Apparently some Nike Ninjas  had infiltrated the Vault cunningly disguised as Members. Image IPB

None of your links are working EE ... I quite fancied some crocs. Hope you're not on pay per click.

I asked them to consider a feature to allow content authors to mark comments as spam on their pages. I figure the person most likely to notice and care about spam is the content author.

They responded that they are considering options.

I sent this in as a request over a year ago, don't hold your breath.

At current, the last 5 comments on one of my Vault pages is spam, been there for a few months... haven't asked that they be removed (again), will have to do that one of these days it seems.

I've contacted the vault to no avail. Apparently, most people *really* want Zugg boots.

Its funny, the admins at the vault have done a fairly good job of keeping Wizard's Apprentice spam-free. Theyve removed almost 10 spam posts. Currently there is only one remaining.

Phew. I was starting to think it was personal the amount I've had in the last few weeks until I stumbled across this post (I tend to hover in the NWN1 area). Most of the selling stuff seems to vanish by itself after a few days, but I still get annoying ones that vote and post comments that on first glance look genuine. The most recent even had the nerve to copy and paste a previous genuine comment word for word. I don't get what they get out of it other than wasting their own time. Sad.
