Complaining about something optional is just silly.

I'm male.
Your argument is invalid.

Look, some of us want to be able to talk to crew members without being railroaded into s/s romances. I see the word "optional" being thrown around but given the track record of ME1 and ME2 this is a laughable notion. Ever tried to avoid a Sheploo romance with Ash in ME1? It's pretty damn difficult. Even if you don't talk to her at all, she still confronts you with Liara and tells you to choose between them. In ME2 you need only say that it's nice to see Miranda smile, and the two start flirting. This is hardly what I'd call "optional". The only "option" for those who want to avoid unwanted romances is to not speak to the crew at all, and in ME1 even that doesn't work, as previously mentioned. So please, stop with all the "optional" BS. It's fine to say you want s/s, but don't claim it's optional when the last two games prove it's anything but.

Funny thing ME is one of the few games that made me care enough abouth the main character to replay as a male character resembling myself.

**** it.
I'm going to Bioware, and I'm going to march right into Casey Hudson's office, and demand that all romances be pulled from the game. It's just too much! Too much time spent on discussing fictional boyfriends/girlfriends, and not enough time being spent on the game itself.
Let's be honest here. NONE of you probably have ever had a girlfriend and/or boyfriend, and neither have I. But why is this all we care about? Because we are blending this game with reality. ROMANCES IN A VIDEO GAME ARE NOT REAL LIFE, GET OVER YOURSELF.
So, I'm going to Edmonton, and 'm making sure none of you are having ANY kind of romance in ME3. All because of tipi.
You hear that? NO ROMANCES FOR ANY OF YOU AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT.

1. Ashley and Liara never confronted my maleshep.
2. You're not going to be unavoidably herded into s/s you can always turn them down
3. I never romanced Miranda so I'll take your word on that one
4. Well you can be a complete renegade to the crew and then you won't get any romance

1. Perhaps you could tell me how you made that happen? Cos I have tried several times to avoid it, and never managed it. As I said, on one playthrough I actually didn't talk to Ash even once and she still confronted me.
2. The option to turn them down is not the same as the option to avoid them altogether. Pick the "wrong" dialogue option and Shepard will flirt with someone you never wanted to flirt with. Sure, you then (usually) get the option to back out, but then Shepard just looks like an indicisive ass. This was bad enough with the m/f romances.
4. Actually even that doesn't work. Jack and Miranda both have renegade romances.

2. True, picking the wrong option is always a risk.
4. Huh... Miranda didn't seem like the type who would go for a renegade romance.
