the romance is part of the story.... all of it is equally important.
It's an optional part.

Propagation of DNA, different in ME.

I'm not a fan of romance, but that's pretty harsh. You're killing off some great characters, and will lose some great scenes in ME3.

I was wary that ME3 might have less rpg features. This was addressed.
I was angry that ME2 forced me to work with Cerberus. This is no longer the case.
I was worried that Legion might not have enough of a role. This was addressed.
I was worried we might beat the Reapers with an Independance Day type virus. This was addressed.
I was worried that we'd be forced to use the thermal clips again. Bioware has said they will, but I can overlook this.
Most of my concerns have already been addressed. So why the hell can't I talk about romance options? Why do people assume that those of us who talk about romances are focused on these to the exclusion of everything else? It is possible to follow multiple threads and have more than one concern, you know.

I find "romance" to have merit to a story - sometimes, great merit - but I've never seen a video game use romance as anything more than teen boy wish fulfillment.
Romance could give a "face" to the reason you're fighting. "Soldier who is just doing this like a robot because that's what a hero does." is very bland. Giving Shepard momentum is important - and romance could be "part" of that momentum.
That being said - my Shepard has not romanced anyone and though I will admit it's partially due to having no s/s romance available - I have found the non-romance Shepard to be very rewarding so far.
Because - as Wrynn says in DA: O: (I paraphrase) "There may come a day when you have to choose between your love and your duty... what will you do then?"

Nah, we're just tired of all the arguing over the romances.

Honestly, i can't see why people should be bothered by it. Don't want it, don't do it, that's why it's optional.
It's like complaining about jelly on your cheese sandwitch, you don't have to eat it.
