I have a Kinect as well, and I'll admit when I first saw it, I thought it was dumb. Then my dad got one and we played for a while and it's pretty fun. :]

Anywho, it's not like it matters to me, I play ME on PC. If enough people here on the forums say good things about the Kinect features on the 360, I might rent a copy just to try it out.

But in the end, if you think it's stupid, don't use it. There are sill plenty of games out there that don't use Kinect/Wii/Move/whatever.

I don't think it's really stupid, but I live in an apartment. Shouting commands won't go over well with neighbors.

You don't have to shout, honestly.  When my daughters watch Netflix through the XBox, I sometimes accidently make the movie go crazy by just talking to them in the room.  Granted, I'm not going to be talking to the game in the middle of the night.  My husband might come down and glare at me.

You don't have to shout for Kinect to work....though I guess in the middle of an exciting battle you might do it by accident Posted Image

I lucked out, because I already own a Kinect.  I bought one for my 2 girls last Christmas.  My oldest has Dance Central, and my youngest has Kinectimals.  We've been buying some more games for it since, because it really is an interesting device.

Dare I say it?  I shall!  It's actually pretty damn fun. :wizard:

Don't get stuck, fellow gamers!  New things can be good things.   I know, I know....  Sometimes new things are scary:ph34r:

I, for one, am looking forward to trying it out with ME3.

Just being able to yell at Kaidan and Garrus to do things will be fun. :D

Anyway, they certainly aren't twisting your arms and yelling at you to go buy one for this game.  If you want one, fine.  If not, that's fine, as well.  There's no reason to have a freak out.  Oh wait.  I forgot where I was for a minute.

Don't be ashamed...it is damn fun!  I recommend that you try to pick a copy of Kinect Sports...its great fun - everyone that I have showed it too, wants it!  Just played 10 frames of bowling with the family last night and had a blast (and yes even my 3.5 year old daughter can throw strikes with the best of them)!

The technology itself has so much potential...I can't wait for Microsoft to actually partner with a TV company and intergrate it into the TV...walk in the room say TV on, start flipping through channels with just a wave of my hand...that will be the day.

Even if it makes some of the job easier from a programming stand point there's no getting around the fact that they're using the Kinect as a $150 microphone. That's just stupid.

It's also not strictly true. The voice recognition itself is a Kinect feature, which is why PC gamers aren't going to get this.

Sure, it's probably all just software rather than anything in the Kinect box itself, but there's no PC SDK.

I think the kinect's one and only purpose is to make you look like an idiot when playing games, whether its getting you to flail your arms around or shout at your tv.

I already have the Kinect as well, and it really is fun. I am interested to see how the voice commands will bring greater or lesser experience to ME3. As said, no you do not need this, but if you already have Kinect then why not try out voice and see how it works for you.

I still don't get why Kinect is necessary for voice commands. Wouldn't you just need the mic?

When I saw the Kinect logo I got nervous thinking I'd be doing some stupid stuff trying to hack a door. Voice commands sound pretty cool if they work well. I played Endwar and it kinda sucked.

From what I have read on the forum recently the explanation/theory is that as Kinect already has all the voice recognition software/hardware, relatively little effort is required to get it (ME3) working with voice commands.

Also, despite only seeing the voice recogition function of Kinect being used in conversations and combat, it appears that Kinect will also be used in other parts of the game, possibly using motion control.  I think it is mentioned around the 6 minute mark in the vid below:

Personally I would love Kinect to be used in the Galaxy map, menus and hacking mini games.

The voice commands for skills actually give console players a much greater degree of control during real time since they are no longer limited to skills mapped on the controller.

So much this.  So long as I can use it to throw my own powers out too, I'll be a happy Shep.

Games should only be made for one niche damnit. Casuals don't deserve games damnit.

At 149.99, the Kinect is an accessory that's as expensive as the Wii. I wouldn't consider that the 'casual' market.'

I also have Kinect and Netflix and I always says something and the next thing I know my movie/TV show is rewinding.  Annoying at times, but Kinect is still fun.  I love KinectSports.

That being said, I won't use the Kinect at first.  I want to play the game without it so I don't say something I don't want the squad moving or doing something I don't want them to do .  After a while, I will use the Kinect because I know I will play ME3 to death like I have been doing for the past 18 months with ME2.

I am always talking about the Coin op days

OK I know that they would often use a set hardware and make games based on a sort of engine like today, but damnit I was trying to make a point using slightly scewed and incorrect facts!

In an "interview" between Todd Howard (Bethesda) and Notch (Mojang) they were talking about the systems they are releasing their games on. Notch and Todd basically said the Microsoft are insisting that Kinect be implemented into games released on their console, which probably means it wasn't Bioware's first choice.
Also Minecraft is being released on Xbox.
