My questbook says to explore this part of the Deep Roads... which I have. I've checked all over the map 4 times and I can't see anywhere else to go that isn't blocked or anything else to loot. I went back to the first quest area suggested and rechecked all over there as well. There is nowhere left to go! All the places that look like they have more to them are physically blocked by something or another.

What am I missing?

Don't you need to enter a building on the left bottom corner of your map there to find the shield of your royal house?

Assuming you're a noble dwarf, by the looks of this map?

I don't think Aeducan Thaig has any point outside of some side quests. To proceed with the Orzammar quest though you need to go through Ortan Thaig (the area you get access to after going through Caridins Cross) and leave from there. I think there's the spider boss and the exit is right next to her little nook.

Human Noble, on the quest to find the Dwarf Paragon. Went to the crossroads as was suggested, my quest log updated after tooling around there for awhile and said to go here.

I killed a big group of spiders, didn't find any nooks. My quest book directed me here from the crossroads. Guess I'll go back and look yet again, but I'm getting sick of searching, I've been all over both areas (crossroads and here) half a dozen times. I marked the quest as active and looked for plot helpers but didn't see any. This and the crossroads (and the marker to get back into the city) are the only accessible points on the Deep Road world map.

This is one of the things that bugs me about RPGs at times. I'll have to take another look and try to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

During the quest where you're actually off to find Branka, you need to leave the crossroads through one specific exit. It has three in case you've only found two so far...

Aeducan Thaig is a quest location before the Branka quest if you work for Bhelen. If you're already looking for Branka the only reason to go there is some optional side-quest stuff that you can pick up there.

I distinctly remember only going to that map after finishing the Paragon quest.

Maybe I mislead you by saying nook... I just mean the little area that the spider boss appears in.  It sounds like you didn't even get access to Ortan Thaig.  And I doubt your quest log said to go to Aeducan Thaig for the Paragon quest.  Also, isn't Aeducan Thaig available without ever entering Caridin's Cross?

If you have Oghren in your party he should have been telling you that you're on the right track in Caridin's Cross.  There may be a specific exit you need to take from there to reach Ortan Thaig.

Zibon is correct. i was struggling with this myself for a long time because i didn't bother much with the main quest for the dwarven city. the other parts of the deep roads only become available after you've proven to support one of the candidates, strange thing really because the npc claims that they keep a route to some other part open the whole time ... yet you clearly see those the obstacles if you are not engaged in the main quests.

Yes, it was the third exit. Thanks for the help.
