I have to admit she is very easy to romance in ME1. I do generally remind myself that she is blue, over 100 years old and can't techically bare my offspring.

I've been playing ME1 again (got it for $5 from STEAM) and my first playthrough I romanced her. Then I decided that my human PC probibally wouldn't really do that so when playing through again (getting to level 60 for ME2) I romanced Ashley. To be honest when I had to put her down it was really hard and I felt sorry for her.

It's odd her transformation from ME1 to ME2. From naive research scientist who doesn't like being around people to an underworld information broker. To be honest it was a very unrealistic leap, one which kinda ruined any kind of immersion into her story and background. By then I was kinda, "ok, whatever, sure ...".

I do love her personality in ME1 and if she was human would be the number one choice each time.

Liara caught me by surprise the first time I played ME. I failed to realize what happened in the "I like you" conversation and romance happened.

However, I've grown to really like her. She's loving, doesn't get jealous, helps recover your body (talk about dedication!) and being blue doesn't hurt.<3

Lots of little blue children in my Shepard's future.

My first playthrough I didn't realise you could actually romance Liara. So when the conversation rolled around I accidently turned her down and went with Kaidan. Second play through I got it right, and havn't looked back. :] Cheated on Kaidan with Garrus on that save, have never been able to bring myself to cheat on Liara.

And yeah, Asari don't take their mate's DNA, they just use it to randomise their own. That's the idea, although there are hints in the game about there being some controversy among the Asari regarding the truth of that.

In my first playthrough of the game I was actually after Ash but I've ****ed up somehow during the conversations and Liara turned my LI.

Well every human in the ME universe did come from a union of a Male and Female human. So, I would suspect that MH/FH relationships are still generally popular, or there would be a lot less humans. Baring that in mind, is how I role-played the character.

Shepherd (in the spacer background) does talk about his parents with Ashley, who also talks about her family, so I felt that would give a desire for the PC to want the same.

Just how I role-played it. Again I have romanced her before and it was a good romance. Still hate what they made her into in ME2 though.

i think they have the same amount of time as humans or around it there bodys change over time but they live to be a thousand years.

i wonder how fast asari grow?

I would be hesitant to guess but the asari near the weapons dealer on Illium says she's 60 years old, it's generally accepted that Asari reach maturity at this age (aka the asari equivalent of an 18 year old human) but Samara also said morinth went on the run when she was 40, also Samara says the ardat yakshi syndrome manifests at maturity. So there's a lot of inconsistency there even though 20 years in asari terms would be like a few weeks in human age.

I think it's reasonable to assume Asari still look like children until their 20th - 30th year, no real proof on this though, mostly logical thinking and explanation.

Edit: About Liara: At first I was thinking of romancing Ashley, that's when I figured I could also go with Liara. Was a hard choice but I chose Liara. Never romanced anyone else than Liara on future playthroughs AND never cheated on her, except once to get the ME2 achievement, then reloaded an earlier save:pinched:.
Guess it's true what they say: "Once you go blue you never want to go back!"

Well, some traits are taken and past down. What kind, I still don't know. But I doubt nothing is taken from the father, besides an on switch for the baby making machine.

Romance wise, for those that played LOTSB, I do want the ability to have her move into your room early (if you could do the same with ME2 romance characters). I do want them to talk about their future, while still learning about each other. Since they're in a long relationship, we should start learning things they wouldn't talk to anyone about. The doors should be more open. Like I want to know more about Liara, since honestly, we don't get to learn much about her past. Her relationship with her mother. Or her what she thinks about her race. Or her time as an information broker.

What I don't want is discussing "Are you still interested in me?", which leads nowhere till the end of the game.

Another thing I want discussed is the fact that Shepard is going to die, and how Liara's going to deal with that. Liara wanted Shepard back, and wants a promise that he's always coming back. But the fact of the matter is, one day, Shepard is going to die. And she's going to have to deal with that for roughly under a thousand years. Eventually, she's going to have to move on, and then move on again.

It's something that would bother my Shepard. That she'll outlive him. Though I'm more bothered by the fact that he'll just be one of many. That Shepard will be just blend in with the bunch. Especially if you're the type that believes in the afterlife. If you believe in soulmates, you're clearly not it by boyfriend/girlfriend number 6, and marriage number 3.

I assume the asari spend most of their life as 'adults', which is kind of interesting.

Assuming they live to be 1000, and assuming it's 60 years of 'childhood', that's 94% of their life. With humans, I'd say it's around 80%.

Asari are conected to partner for the rest of their life even if other is dead or so it said in ME1 asari codex or when talking to liara

Here's hoping for a great resolution to the Liara romance. It's the most developed one by far, and deserves a proper ending.
Here's a question: ambiguous or concrete romance ending? Which do you prefer?

I perfer more ambiguity in general with such things and can freely headcanon it as I wish.

It would make for a good scene if Liara and Shepard discussed this when the endgame draws close. With Shepard bringing up the fact that it could still go horribly wrong and that (if you played Lotsb which probably every Liara fan has) you might not be able to keep the promise you made to her in ME2. I'd certainly like to have this in ME3 although we all know Liara is smart and realistic enough to know anything could happen and a future with her and Shepard together is far from guaranteed at this point.

The subject of Liara outliving Shepard could make for a good scene. Perhaps (as suggested) near the endgame. Shepard can mention that even if he survives, Liara will still one day come to terms with his death.

And yes. We need more knowlegde of Liara's background or hear about some event that happend in the past. I always said that.
