There are hundreds if not thousands of Reapers burning the cool green hills of Earth. Even if Shepard and Liara get to fly into the starscape at the end of their Paragon romance, I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about an "overly happy ending."Sarcastic Tasha wrote...
I'm not generally a fan of overly happy endings, they make me cringe. But I'm not expecting ME3 to have a perfect ending, the Reapers are probably gonna bleep things up, sacrifices will have to be made and Shep might come out the other side pretty damaged (although my canon Shep is already pretty messed up).
Liara Fans: keep your love blue and true!

What I would like to see in ME3:
Will she tell Wrex that her grandfather was a krogan?
Playing as Liara is a lot of fun, but I have to admit, it was really weird when Liara kissed Liara.
WOW! Wrex and Liara in the same shot??! Is this a true ME3 image or someone that cleverly photoshopped those two together?

Agreed. If they didn't break after the LotSB, I don't see why they would after the war with the Reapers is over.Lizardviking wrote...

they could end their relationship due to various reasons. Nervous about their future.
The idea of Shepard and Liara breaking up some time in future after the war is over seems so weird to me. considering what the relationship has been though.
If both their homeworlds/species are in ruins/need, I could see them focusing on the rebuild: Shepard helping humanity rebuild and Liara the asari.
Both of these characters (in my game play) care about their people and if it requires them to separate it would not be easy, but they would for the greater good. That is one reason they wold separate, although I have a couple more reasons on why it would come about.
Some reasons are character driven and specific to my Shepard. So as you can see, I have no clue on how my love story will end. I won't know until I play ME3 to help guide and flesh out the ending.
If Liara dying in the game is an option and is not only valid but emotionally powerful, then I would let the game run its course. Not saying it would be easy, but if it felt truthful ...
Blame it on being raised with the classics ... happy endings aren't always the right endings. And sometimes loving someone means letting them go. My favorite love story is the perfect example = Cyrano de Bergerac
I can see them wanting to help rebuild their homeworlds, but I doubt
they'll have to separate to do. It's not like they'll be strapping on
hard hats and weilding jackhammers themselfs. With their political clout, they'll be dicussing the recomstruction in meeting rooms where these plans can be discussed anywhere.

Just finished LOTSB again. It really does bother me how she changes appearance within the same game.
She doesn't really, its just Shep's new Cerberus eyes hadn't settled in until LotSB. Right? That must be it.

The beacon on Eden Prime was damaged, it wasn't until Shepard interacted with the beacon on Virmire is when Liara could see the whole message. That is when she reallized the conduit was on Ilos. Even with the cipher the message was jumbled and unclear.Sarcastic Tasha wrote...
Slightly off topic Liara question: Why didn't Liara get the Prothean Cipher from Shepard? I initially assumed she did get the Cipher and that's how she knew they had to go to Ilos. But then she didn't understand the Prothean language which implies she doesn't have the Cipher. The only way it makes sense is if Shepard has the Cipher and that translated the beacon message for Liara so that she could figure out the Conduit was on Ilos. But Liara has been researching the Protheans for 50 years, to say she's interested in them would be an understatement, so wouldn't she want the Cipher? She was already rooting around in Shep's brain anyway (even more so if they're an item) so why not pick up the Cipher while she's there?

I thought she did understand it? It's been a loooong while since I played ME1... Although it could be that something like the Cipher has to be given and can't be tangentially taken during a melding.
She understood the Vigil but at an earlier point on Ilos there's another VI that doesn't really work. Shep understands it and Liara and Tali (or whoever happens to be there) are like "huh? how do you understand that?"
Maybe the Cipher can only be given, but then how did Shiala take it from the Thorian? Liara was there at the time, why didn't she ask Shiala for the Cipher while they were there? Maybe I've over thought this.

I think you are over thinking it, but Vigil also stated that it was talking where the group could understand. I forget exactly how the VI phrased it.Sarcastic Tasha wrote...

I think Shiala owes Shepard two favors actually. One from each game.Sarcastic Tasha wrote...
Yeah I think Vigil said he learned how to speak english (or whatever) from listening in on their conversations. But Shep has the Cipher which is to understand what it is to be Prothean so she understood the first VI, just seemed to me like something Liara would have been interested in. I'll just have to assume Liara couldn't take the Cipher and is a bit disappointed about it. Maybe Shep can get Liara the Cipher for her next birthday, Shiala owes Shep a favour.

Her eyes are quite attractive to go with everything else you said. I think Liara so far is the best written character besides Shepard.eternalnightmare13 wrote...
I romanced Liara with my canon Shep because of her interest in the Prothean history/culture. It was her intellect that my canon Shep found attractive, not just the exotic eye candy every other earth boy/girl sees the asari as being. Her transition from academia to being an info broker - ultimately the Shadow Broker in the long run made sense and fit her intellectual curiosity and her concern for Shepard and Feron. She was rather neive in the ME1, and obsessive/cumpulsive in ME2, but over all she had a affable personality and never came across to me as abbrassive, emotionally dettached, or arrogant. THAT - her personality/intellect is what's attractive about her. Not so much her skin tone or head tentacles.

sheala gave shep sipher and said it would take time to understand. then when on ship liara melded (ordinary mind meld) she did not understand it like shep but she put it in more detail she said that the becan must have been dameged and did not trancfer all the information. she got a veiw of it and sipher but never brot it over. the asari have to diffrent types of mind melds one is exchange of information/thoughts the other which creates offspring makes both partys combind all thought and self but reverts to normal afterwards but asari may become pregnet or what ever it is but there is always a conection from then on or thats what i viewed the info as.

True, if what you are looking for is a happy ending, but I'm looking at what may divide/separate my Shepard & Liara after ME3. Waiting on ME3 to cement the endstory of the relationship (happy, sad, etc).
