Hey, does anyone know, aside from our awesome blue fandom here, how is Liara acceptance by other fans? And why did they choose to make LOTSB and not... dunno, "Fleet and Flottila a DLC for Tali"?

I was wondering if it has something to do with character popularity or something else entirely.

Partly popularity, partly because Liara was sidelined in ME 2 proper, and some people weren't too happy. Tali already featured in ME 2 and had a big part in the story, more DLC on her wouldn't make sense.

And it was helping to flesh out a story arc they brought up in the comics, so I figure it wasn't exactly hard to see LOTSB coming, because it would have had to come up at some point, something to do with Liara and the SB. At least BW weren't so crass as to throw in a  "Buy moar DLC" at the end of ME 2.

And I just saw that on RPS. I don't think it's really on the mark, simply because the story on ME 2 was leaning towards dark energy/matter being the end game story, not spacegodchild. And beings, plural. Either way the end is still a load of steaming... because, well, it failed to deliver.

I think it's part character popularity with the fanbase and part character popularity with the writers/developers.

She's moderately well-liked by those who don't romance her.  Some people don't like how integral she is to the plot, or how much screen time she's given.  Others don't like that they don't have the option to not be her friend in-game.  Obviously you haven't seen the "Did Liara rape Shepard?" thread, but there's also a small subset of the base that loathes her in every way, and can see no good in her.

What's the latest on the Liara romance dialogue bug? From the first conversation aboard the Normandy, when she says something about not seeing Shepard for years. It was strange, since the rest of the LotSB stuff seemed to be acknowledged.
