Hi Karmen. ^_^

I'm not sure what to vote. On the one hand, I don't want to traumatize those children with my Shepard as a father. On the other hand, I want to see E.W. Shepard's face, when Liara tells her the good news.

I will pay moneyz! to see her reaction. =]

It'd probably be more along the lines of EDI's joke moment.

I said a couple of weeks ago, I would post a video of Javik in the party during the Thessia mission.  I have had PC issues and when I moved all the video files to my external HD, they got messed up.  So I lost everything.  Vids from all three ME games.  :(

I did record it again with canon femShep, so here it is.  It is a 12 minute video.  It starts when with Liara hacking the terminal to get into the temple through Leng showing up.

Enjoy.

Liara to the rescue.

Wow. Javik's reactions kind of change the perception of the Asari back then. I figured since the Protheans thought them to be the most promising of species that they'd already be avanced at least a bit. But this suggests the Asari were incredibly primitive (probably on par with the cavemen from human history, if not less advanced) when the Protheans helped them.

This would explain why the Asari found the Citadel more than 2000 years earlier than the humans, even though they were equally advanced (or equally primitive) during the Prothean's rule.

I think he also explains this on the Normandy, if you didn't bring him along. He said the asari were the most promising, and they just "guided" them along. Sort of a thing.

If the indoctrination theory is right it doesn't sound like that'd be a happy ending. I've been pondering what might happen if Shepard were indoctrinated. I wonder if Liara could shoot Shepard if it came down to it.

Asari laziness is a long-lived and deeply-ingrained cultural thing. They're just as smart as the salarians, turians or humans, but because they live such long lives, they procrastinate. That's what I think Javik was getting at. The protheans would give them technology to help them along, because they thought the asari were the most promising species, but due to cultural laziness, the asari would put it aside and go, "Eh...I'll get to it in 10 years."

EDIT: And the way the asari used the prothean artifact was pretty much the way a lazy student copies the answers to homework off of other students.

If BioWare remains true to their lore then nothing will happen.

Assuming the Indoctrination Theory is right, Shepard is only in the first stage of indoctrination. He sees visions and hears voices, this is an attempt by the Reapers to weaken his will. As explained by Rana Thanoptis in ME1. Only once your will is gone will you start to receive impulses from the Reapers. Small things that you hardly notice. This'll take a while and get progressivly worse. After this phase is over you'll start becoming aware (Benezia for example) that you are being controlled. By this time the Reaper's influence is so strong that you can no longer fight it. Saren reached the same stage right before the final battle.

So if BioWare remembers this, then even if you pick a 'wrong' option at the end, Shepard will not be fully indoctrinated. He might receive subtle impulses from Harbinger or another Reaper but he won't suddenly be completely under the Reaper's control. If you pick the 'right' ending (destroy) then Shepard's will supposedly still remains. In this case the Reapers can't even influence him.

So even after all this, a 'happy' ending is possible. And it better be. A scene where Liara is forced to kill Shepard to save him from indoctrination would be too emotional for me to watch I think....:crying:

There would be a Paragon Interrupt where Shepard shoots him/herself, so that Liara doesnt need to do it ! *cough*

The Protheans would've looked beyond that. A species that is naturally powerful in Biotics would be an interesting find but why would the Protheans particularly find them interesting? It also depends on when they started helping the Asari. And herein lies a point for speculation. When the Reapers came, the relays were shut off.

At this point the Protheans would no longer have access to Thessia. Do we have to assume then that they helped the Asari (and built that beacon) before the Reapers came? If so... why? Why help that species become more advanced since there was no reason to do so.

If they had helped them during the war with the Reapers we could say the Protheans tried to make the asari as advanced as possible so they'd have more 'space time' before the next cycle. If not for that.. they would've advanced on their own like Humans, Turians and Salarians etc..
Actually I like this. This is right way to introduce 'Lots of speculation for everyone':wizard:

I don't understand how the Protheans were fighting the reapers for hundreds of years. Surely with the Mass Effect relays all down, there is nothing they can really do?

Prothean have dominate the Galaxy more then 3000 or 4000 years not like the species in this cicle, so Prothean have study all the actual species, for elevete , for have heirs, Prothean have study human, take the outpost in Mars.

I won't be able to Alt - F4 fast enough. I will also send my entire ME 3 CE back to Bioware. Actually, I'll send all my ME stuff back to Bioware, along with the necessary bleach to destroy it all. Blegh.

5 years, just so I can shoot myself? Thanks, but no thanks.

At least there would be closure.
I tought Samara's suicide to save her daughter was a great, emotional and realistic scene (tho I paragon interrupted her).
Something in the lines of.. "I love you, goodbye." - *gunshot* - *Shepard falls to the ground*, then pan to Liara on her knees, crying hysterically. Then some clips of what happens next.

I don't want that, but even that would be better in terms of closure than the ending we have now. :/

Yeah it would be a bit much if Shep went mental and started shooting at her squaddies. Though if Shep did go nuts Liara could just pop her in a stasis bubble until the Catalyst is working.

I think the Reapers can indoctrinate people quickly but it messes their brain up, so not sure if the Reapers would want to do that to Shep.
