I disagree, an Egineer Shep for example would be somewhat similar to a Geordi Laforge or Spock, they would be well versed on their respective fields, and I see the Illusive Man as very practical, he talks to Shep because he values Shep's unique experience more than Liara's titles, also as a humanist racist he most likely is snobbing Liara
Engineer Shepard might have knowlegde on lots of gadgets and some technical stuff, but said Shepard is still not much of a well-educated scholar.
I can understand why he talks to Shepard, but I still feel it would be cooler if it was Liara he said it to. As I said, two well educated people discussing a topic both of them find interesting. TIM is also not much of a racist so your last point is moot.
Oh I agree it would have been nice if Liara got to participate in that conversation to show the rivalry she has with the Illusive Man
As for Engineer shep, that seems far fecthed he has the same skills as Tali and no one thinks Tali is not highly trianed, plus we have zero knowledge of where Shep studied or how the Alliance trains cadets other than the Nx elite program.
Edit: Because Cerberus hires how many Aliens to work with their teams? just because he isnt packing them in concentration camps doesnt mean he is not a racist, he quite clearly believes humans are the superior race and should be lording over the other species and is willing to advance what he believes is the human cause at any cost.
As I said TIM is a pragmatic person, if only an alien can get what he wants then he will work with them, all the while his goal is to get said aliens screwed over.

A racist wouldn't do that. He does feel humans need to rule the galaxy and that view to me makes him a class A doucher.

I never read the book but I heard that in them it states that he does not share the extreme anti-aliens views like many of his followeres do.

My pleasure. I needed to record it again anyway. I didn't do the renegade interrupt the first time and it fits Leia so much. Threaten Liara and Leia goes into full commando mode.hollow22_ wrote...

Being smart and being educated is two different things. My own Shep was a colonist, so therefor she never really had any education beside what she recieved in the Alliance. This is my explanation for the limited knowledge of alien culture that Shepard has in ME1. Also, that comment about the reproduction is completely optional, my Shep never made it since, yes, it is rather stupid.
Your quite right, I should have said Shepard isn't very knowledgeable. Yeah I didn't let Shep make that comment either (well tried it just to hear how stupid it was but didn't save). Funny you should say you didn't imagine your colonist Shep as being particularly well educated, I always imagined Shep had a good education on Mindoir. To me Earthborn Shep seems most likely to have a poor education.

He is a doucher anyway. The things he does in the name of humanity makes me sick. Which book are you talking about? I've read the first two and one third way through the 3rd. Not bothering with the 4th book until they fix it.Lizardviking wrote...

That is not the Illusive man, that is his "public persona" like Bruce Wayne to batman, if people don't think you are a danger to them then working in secret against them will be all the more easy
but this is not TIM's thread (does he even has one??) and we digress
To keep it in line:

Knowledgeable, yes, that I can agree Shep isn't in the beginning
And about the education, I don't think we're ever told how developed Mindoir is, so I figured I would assume it is still all about living in prefabs with little educational facilities and such, with the children beign taught physical labour rather than being educated about the galaxy, of course this is just one possible enterpretation that I decided on using since I felt it was a good way to explain the lack of knowledge on Shepard's part in ME1.
Wait... this is still off-topic. Uhm... uhm... *run*

They annouce a new/fixed/changed ending. Get everyone super excited..then..
"Aprilfools! Shepard is still dead, galaxy still screwed over and plotholes are still vast in numbers! And your LI will die alone never to experience love again!"
Wonder how that would've turned out..
And random question, Asari blood is blue, yuh? ;o

Purple, I think?
As far as I can recall, Tela Vasir bleeds purple in LotSB, right? (Although in her death scene the blood is red <_<)

Priestly was way ahead of you actually.
Made a post yesterday or day before saying very specifically that there will be no Bioware announcements tomorrow, for this very reason. I guess they know too well that making april fools jokes in this sort of environment is like lighting a cigarette at a fuel station.
edit : @ Maro, I always aim to please. Or at least put a smile on the faces of my audience.

That makes sense, but I imagined colonist Shep living in an idyllic rural area and going to a small village school. In my head, Shep was a bit of a nerd when she was a kid which was part of the reason she liked Liara right away. I like to think that with some encouragement from Liara, Shepard might go back to school to get a degree or something.

You have to talk to Liara first. She tells you to talk to the volus. Talk to the volus then leave the commons. Return and Aethyta should be on the left corner of the Apollo Cafe. Talk to Aethyta then to Liara again. She is still sitting at the table. You must do this before the coup because Aethyta is gone after the coup.andros992 wrote...

The question is now, if Liara gets asari commandos, what does Aethyta's grandaughter get? I vote for a Claymore.

Universities across the galaxy would probably be falling over each other to offer her honorary degrees in blowing stuff up, first. I know my Shep will be receiving many such accolades.
And then there'll be plenty of rewards from Liara. Oh yes.. And the rest of the crew, of course. And the rest of the galaxy.
