Okay so going back to the conversation after Thessia between Liara and Javik, I wonder did he really mean the nice things he said about Liara?

Something tells me he didn't given his answer to Shepard, but part of me wants to believe it.

Yes, if you choose the paragon option it's obvious he meant at least parts of it.

About 3:50 on the vid. Javik makes it quite clear that he doens't care about Liara, just that she's a useful asset in the fight against the Reapers.

He also said that, just because Liara was special to Shepard (loved it when Shepard said that btw), he would tell Shepard what he wanted to hear....

He also said that, just because Liara was special to Shepard (loved it when Shepard said that btw), he would tell Shepard what he wanted to hear....

That too, that would actually be the bigget evidence in favor of Javik just lying to stop Liara from breaking down.

Again, the fact he lied is evidence he cares. Maybe not a lot and maybe not about Liara but if you don't care about someone or their feelings you don't lie to make them feel better.

I think it's open to interpretation.

I think he did it more for Shepard's sake than Liara's.

I saw Shepard as replacing his lost comrades in his little grinchy Prothean heart by the end of the game.
