Whenever anything gets within 2 meters of Liara I dash across the field and double Omni-blade them :devil:, no one messes with my blue girl!... And then I get scoped by the a nemesis

well I didn't liked vanguards but I love the asari one. If you think about one thing, after charging you blow them with nova (2 biotic combo), and with the asari, after charging if you do the melee attack, she does an area attack, quite similar as Nova's effect, so you consume only 1 biotic power and while that charge is recovering.
IMO I think asari is better because of that, and also the bubble stasis, it helps a lot in silver and gold if you're a great player (which I'm not lol), but it's just an opinion;)

Tho you're vulnerable to shots during the cooldown animation on the asari heavy melee, on gold it's a death sentence if you use it. But the human Nova actually makes you invincible for the animation.
Really wish they'd give asari vanguard something else than grenades, hate to run from box to box.

my nitpicking hat on, I'd I have to agree with Tyranniac in the dress matter. I can understand all your thoughts behind the idea, but it disturbs the "flow" a bit at that point. For me as the reader the white dress on the military vessel comes out of nowhere so to speak.

Other than that, nothing to complain. Great work, lookin' forward to reading more!

I'll look at a re-write later on tonight. Considering how god-awful the first draft of this section was its a relief that the "big problem" with it is such a small detail. Given that its a pretty minor thing to adjust it hopefully shouldn't take long.

I took a look over it tonight after playing some more ME1 and I toyed about with some alternatives but I couldn't think of anything better. Anything I put in there seems to mess up the flow of things.

So I thought I'd have a look at just straight up removing it...and that actually works pretty well. I basically just cut everything after "I'd like that" within that section and in the process I lose a tiny bit of subtext but it seems to flow a lot better. Especially going from Liara agreeing straight into the romantic meal scene.

I'd appreciate thoughts on the flow of it given the change, especially from Tyranniac and Ananas. And, of course, feedback from anyone who hasn't read it yet. I'm always happy to consider any suggestions or criticism.

Haven't managed to get the next one up like I'd expected. There are a LOT of side-missions in ME1, I forgot quite how many, I've spent about six hours just playing through random stuff. But I think I'm wearing their numbers down now and I'll probably complete Noveria tomorrow for the next fanfic setting.

I'm pretty hyped about this next one. Its got one of the scenes I'm simultaneously exultant and terrified over. On the one hand I'm absolutely in love with the idea, on the other I don't know if I can do it justice.

This is kind of a late response from me, but yeah, I think this works much better. 

About the whole translator thing, not sure if you're all past that now but there are obviously translators in Mass Effect. As far as I know we don't know -where- they are though. my guess would probably be an implant in the head considering that they both translate audio and sync lips. Also, I strongly suspect they translate writing as well. This would go together with the lip syncing since it seems they are capable of altering visual input. That said, I don't think it is very far fetched that Shepard would learn to speak whatever language Liara speaks and the other way around since a lot of humans do learn alien languages.

By the way, I got an asari adept in my first Spectre pack! 

Haven't had a chance to play with anyone from around here though.

About the biotic glow in the ME3 love scene, partially artistic reasons obviously (They realised glow would look great) but I think it makes sense that the ME3 scene would be more intense than the ME1 one considering the setting. Asari, being the natural biotics they are probably use biotics during sex often, considering what Mordin says in ME2 when in romance with... uh... don't remember, Jack? + Melding uses biotics in the first place.

If I remember well nova consumes all your shields remains, and I bet we both have our charge to recover 100% shields in the lvl6 upgrade, so if true that means after nova you get 0 shields while with asari's melee you don't consume any shield, so you remain 100% shields after charging and a bit chance of surviving the cooldown of melee while with nova you have to survive the cooldown without shields. Of course on gold is a different thing and I suppose I'll change the gaming tactic, that's where Bubble stasis enters

That's strictly speaking not true since nova is not exactly a power but more like equipment in that it does not affect charge cooldown and is available if and only if you have shields.

Basically, perfectly executed* nova+charge spam makes your vanguard invincible - you're invincible while using charge, nova and for a brief period after losing shields (a brief period of invincibility you forfeit if you lose shields due to the cast-from-hitpoints flash step)

* You really want to be host for this.

lol, really? The M-13 Raptor is not exactly a great sniping rifle, but it is great as an assault rifle with a built in scope! It has some disadvantages, but I am regularly first or second on the score list, and easily solo brutes and banshees with it. Not so sure about the statement about sniping vanguards, the only players I find highly annoying are those that just have to biotic rush and/or nova everything, or Krogan that just have to bash everything. These people make it impossible to shoot anything from a distance and they are constantly having to be revived.
