I prefer to keep her the same as is for the games. I like her looking younger in ME1, then looking more drained and haggard in ME2. Then older with some style in LOTSB. I just wish the transition between ME2 and LOTSB was better.

Question time for the thread.

So we know why Liara is attracted to Shepard. But why are your Shepard attracted to Liara? In short. How do you roleplay the romance from Shepard's perspective.

Well I happen to have a certain weakness for cute, clumsy, innocent girl like Liara. One reason why I also romanced Merrill.

That TotP, those shoes are ugly:P

Anyways, I'm noticing the eyes are still the original ME2 eyes in the picture.

Yeah, the eyes are separated from the texture and as i know, they cant be changed
_________________________

About Liara's change in lotsb, dont think it has more explanation than a BW redesign choice to make her look more mature and give her a HQ texture, because in M2 probably they just reused her M1 skin, but because is outdated it didnt looked so good as the other M2 squadmembers
Now if we want to go in it and find an ingame explanation :wizard:
I will suppose that because her skin is blue, is more realistic her lips are also blue, and if i recall good her tongue is dark purple. A human tends to have lips that are a little darker than the skin color, while the tongue has a blood-type color. I assume the asaris are similar on that. So my conclusion is that the pink in M1 is lipstick

Now why she has different eyes color?
Well, if she has no lipstick on now, maybe is because she took a quick shower in her appartment before putting her armor on, that would mean that she had to also take any kind of contact glasses off before showering. After that she went to her computer and got attacked so she fleed.

That would mean her real eyes color are a deep blue as her lips

Well, what if she put first the deep blue contact glasses on before the lipstick and then got attacked?
I dont think so, first she was in a hurry, second, the snipper shots are in the living room window, so she was in that sector when attacked and there are no cosmetic tools around. So is not like she was doing those things there. Probably all that things are in the bathroom but she just didnt care, because there were better things to worry about than personal appearance.

Now why do you think she hide those gorgeous deep blue eyes? they are too attractive for asaris and she dont want to be hit on constantly? or other...

For my canon Shepard, he doesn't know why he's attracted to her, and neither does Liara. They both are just as confused about it. They feel like there's something between them, but they don't know what, or why. They just do. Like something is pushing them together, despite them still being strangers to each other. But they don't mind after a while. It just feels... right. And now (in LOTSB timeline) when Shepard thinks of her, he thinks of her as his wife. Someone who's family to him. He's no longer fighting for humanity. He's instead fighting for her.

Interesting. We need more people to share their version!

As for my Shepard. He starts off somewhat ego-centric. In the start his attraction to Liara is purely physical but as the story goes on and he starts to mature. He begins to appreciate her on an emotional level due to her caring personality and because she see beyond the whole "Hero of Elyssium".

My canon femShep first felt something towards Dr. T'Soni when they first met on Therum.  She wasn't quite sure what those feeling where, but she felt something.  After melding with Liara the first time was when my femShep realize what those feeling where.  She connects with Liara in a way she never thought she would ever do with anyone, let alone an asari.

for me my shepard at first just liked the innocence and beauty in liara, but as he sees the strength and toughness that she has, it turns into less of a puppy love into an intimate respect for her and all she has done for shepard

Yeah more people need to share, because it says alot about how they see Liara too. Be it fan fic, painting, video or just a quick recap of their own canon it's always fun.

Mine is basically the same as yours. I start off only finding her attractive physically, but the more I talk and get to know her, the more I come to realize that she is a trustworthy and caring friend to have.

This venn diagram shows it perfectly (aside from the F word), in the beginning I think it's just sex but then I find out that it's actually a perfect match.

For my femshep (who's a woman of action and vice), she was just another fling Liara took way too seriously. She didn't care about her. She was just using her, and that's it. And after being brought back, she ignored Liara, and didn't visit her at all until many months. She only came to get information, say hi, and leave. She even rejected helping Liara with terminals. Then helped out later after giving it some thought (probably thinking she owed her). Then left. Then came back, and helped her out. Then left. Though she did tell Liara "She did the right thing".

And then, before going into the Relay, she decided to visit her again. LOTSB happened. She was hoping to get some "happy" moments with Liara, but she screwed up the night. Liara left. And she didn't get laid.

So she's about to go into the Relay. She looks at the picture of Liara. Wishful.

Clearly things have gotten more seriously then what was originally planned.

My femshep is very strong-minded. She doesn't let things get to her, if there's a mission she will complete, and she will do it right. When she reecruited Liara, it was just another mission. But eventually my femshep fell for Liara's softness and naivety. Liara was gentle and truly cared for Shephard. It was like finidng a flower on the battlefield, terrible metaphor but hopefully you know what I mean. Shephard found someone that made her feel safe and happy, and that is why she fell for Liara.

My canon Shepard is a colonist, losing her family at 16 hurt and she's not let anyone get close since. Her reputation as the butcher of Torfan scared most people away but not Liara. Liara sees the best in Shepard and it makes Shep feel like a better person. But Shepard's still messed up, when she saw Liara on Illium and saw how her death affected Liara she felt guilty. The way Liara changed after Shep's death reminded Shep of how she changed after her family were killed on Mindoir, so in an attempt to spare Liara pain in the future she decided to sabotage their relationship by going off with Thane. But Shep can't get Liara off her mind, her relationship with Thane just makes her miss what she had with Liara. In LotSB she admits she still cares for Liara and they get back together but its entirely possible that Shep will bugger things up in ME3.
I never intended my renegade cheating Shep to be my canon Shep but I ended up finding her more interesting because she's such a *bleep* up.

Did this picture of my Shep and Liara today, showing my Shep's secret nerd side:

Obviously there was some initial physical attraction (Alice is only human, after all).  The thing that really drew Alice in, though, was Liara's apparent lack of a filter.  Not that she was mouthy or belligerent like other people who operate without a filter tend to be.  She simply spoke her thoughts without guile or ulterior motives, a trait that became increasingly rare to find as Alice moved up the Alliance chain.

That openness made it easy for Alice to see the kind of person Liara truly was.  Brilliant.  Determined.  Caring.  It also allowed Liara to push past the 'persona,' the 'Shepard-ness' that had been built up around Alice and see her as a whole person.  That was both unsettling and appealing for Alice, who up to that point had been perfectly content to just play the role that she had been given and accept that it meant sacrificing a little part of herself to maintain it.

There was just that instant attraction and curiosity and chemistry. Joining minds to share the Prothean data perhaps furthered a connection. And... after waking 2 years later; seeing her, not understanding her change potentially fractured the relationship. I came close to Miranda... and... cared for her. But just couldn't... so we agreed to be friends, and who knows after the SM (Miranda). But I knew my Shep still had feelings for Liara despite the distance/time. And after the SM... got LotSB...

Understood Liara more, what she went through, her change, and deep down she's still the same Liara he fell in love with in ME1 and just resparked everything and our connection.

Also I saved the Date for after Arrival, just RPing that felt better since Shep knows he has to return to Earth, just a nice last thing he has to do before that. I like ending ME2 completely that way, doing the date after Arrival, then heading to Earth.

My femshep was able to temporarily forget past trauma and soldiering duties when she was conversing with Liara in ME1. Shep developed a certain warmth and attraction for her from there.

Also she wants to take Liara on a magic carpet ride, show her the world, etc.

i botched so many playthrus trying to get the asari companion achievement its not even funny. saving the galaxy with Liara in my party is second nature, i cant playthru mass effect without recruiting her immediately

Liara is my favorite character [besides shepard of course] because, over the last 2 games, her character has grown from a helpless archeologist into one of the most powerful and influential [unknown] asari in the galaxy

its also hard to pass up a legacy that would outlive the next 50 human generations. the asari can live around 1000 years: their children would be around when memory of the reapers fades to remind everyone who saved the galaxy

so...

Liara went from digging up prothean ruins in solitude to saving the galaxy with her first love. during the mission to stop saren, Liara's life changed forever

Shepard was there for Liara when she was dealing with her mother's death and even checked on Liara everytime she got woozy and went to see doc chakwas.

Shepard was Liara's first everything: Shepard is one of the first humans Liara ever met and the first person she every bonded with. Shepard was her first crush, her first love and ultimately her first lover

then Shep died. instead of moving on, Liara battled the shadowbroker and the collectors just to retrieve Shepard's broken body while everyone else started new lives

Shepard and Liara's romance is the only one that makes sense to me. Liara is the most interesting, most powerful and most loyal member of any crew Shepard has every lead and thats why her picture is always face up

It's funny since at first my Shepard was not interested in Liara, it was just a resque mission. But when he met her, her innocence, the social awkwardness, and the fact that she was blue, it just clicked. She was adorable, her comments were funny, and her smile was bright and her laugh was wonderful. That is why my Shep first fell for her, and it only grew from there. That and she was one very delicious looking asari ;)

I like to think that my Shepard was attracted to Liara because she felt she was so vastly different from her. Growing up on Earth as an orphan made her so jaded and cynical, and she did horrible things that continued to haunt her in her sleep. She admits to Liara that she kills for a living and it has become a second nature for her- and Torfan was a testament to that. But being with Liara... she somehow sees herself in her too, at least when she was still a child: awkward, innocent, kind of geeky. So Shepard swears to herself: to protect Liara and her innocence, because when she's with her, her life doesn't feel like a survival and the galaxy doesn't solely become a killing ground. She'd protect her- no matter what.

And the sex wasn't half bad, too.
