About Liara's change in lotsb, dont think it has more explanation than a BW redesign choice to make her look more mature and give her a HQ texture, because in M2 probably they just reused her M1 skin, but because is outdated it didnt looked so good as the other M2 squadmembers
Now if we want to go in it and find an ingame explanation :wizard:
I will suppose that because her skin is blue, is more realistic her lips are also blue, and if i recall good her tongue is dark purple. A human tends to have lips that are a little darker than the skin color, while the tongue has a blood-type color. I assume the asaris are similar on that. So my conclusion is that the pink in M1 is lipstick

Now why she has different eyes color?
Well, if she has no lipstick on now, maybe is because she took a quick shower in her appartment before putting her armor on, that would mean that she had to also take any kind of contact glasses off before showering. After that she went to her computer and got attacked so she fleed.

That would mean her real eyes color are a deep blue as her lips

Well, what if she put first the deep blue contact glasses on before the lipstick and then got attacked?
I dont think so, first she was in a hurry, second, the snipper shots are in the living room window, so she was in that sector when attacked and there are no cosmetic tools around. So is not like she was doing those things there. Probably all that things are in the bathroom but she just didnt care, because there were better things to worry about than personal appearance.

Now why do you think she hide those gorgeous deep blue eyes? they are too attractive for asaris and she dont want to be hit on constantly? or other...

I always find it kind of pointless and ultimately hopeless when fans try to explain changes that bioware themselves have not given a reason for, other than gameplay. LotSB Liara is a redesign, artistic freedom if you will, and that's all there is to it.
Compare it to a comic book series that changes its artist. The protagonist looks different now but there's no need to wrack your brain to try and explain it.
I think multiple versions of Liara gives the player an opportunity to choose his favourite as his personal "official" Liara. (And as you can see you can even change her appearance in game with some modding, so what's not to like?)

Well stated. Liara's new look is simply a redesign. Just like Garrus's C-sec armor or Shepard's N7 armor.

And in comic books, people get turned off if they change the charaters look in radical ways.  I know I quit reading DC Virtigo's "Hell Blazer" because they changed both artist and writers and I didn't like where they went with it, so I quit buying it.

I'm sure there few that didn't like how Liara changed looks from ME1-->ME2-->LotSB.  Just like I am sure there are some that don't like how Ashley or Kaidan are going to look for ME3.  I think they still look as they did, just a little more touched up.  I did not like how everyone changed that were in DA:O -->DA2.  Bann Tegan, I didn't even recogonize him.  Zev I onl;y knew it was him from the voice.  Leliana looked right.  Isabela went from being  half flat chested to big booming ******.  Not that I am complaining about the big boobs.:o  That was my biggest complaint about DA2, charcters that didn't look like they should.

I only stated my Shep's feeling during ME1,  suppose I should have added both games.

My canonfemShep woke up very confuesd on the Cerberus station.  The last thing she remembers is the Normandy blowing  up and she didn't understand why Liara wasn't with her.  Shepard asked about the whole team that was left(Ash died on Virmire) and the only lie TIM told about the old crew was that Liara was working for the Shadow Broker.

She is a spacer kid and knows her duty comes before personal wants, so she went to find out why colonists are going missing and try to find a way to stop it.  She hoped to find Liara when she got to Illium.  They finally meet and Liara kisses Shep then Shepard notices the coldness and anger and again was confused.  Liara asked for help and no way was my femShep going to tell her no.  She finally understood what was going on with Liara and the Shadow Broker.  Not only was Shepard grateful that Liara kept her body out of collector hands and she is the reason Shepard is still alive.  That made her love Liara more than she did already.

I only complain about character redesigns if they're much worse than before. For example, I still can't get over how weird Alistair looks in DA2. Sure he's become a little older but so what? Give him a few wrinkles and leave it at that. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I was very pleased with Liara's ME2 --> Lotsb redesign but we're at her 3rd face model now. I wish BW would just stick with Liara face this time but apparently they need to redo it again, not too happy about that because it will most likely turn out worse than her Lotsb look. Ah well, as long as there's no rubbish lighting in Shepard's quarters or Liara's room (provided they don't share one) that makes Liara's face all gray-ish again I suppose I'll be happy still. Provided they remove the angry look she had in the E3 demo. Liara running around looking like she's in a permanent bad mood = not cool.

Maybe Liara is in a bad mood that Cerberus caused her to lose her job as the Shadow Broker.  The demos had them fighting mostly Cerberus troops of varying sorts.

One of my favorite scenes from the E3 demos was when the Cerberus trooper jumped down behind Shepard, Garrus rifle butts the guy and Liara shots him.  I was like hell yea, Liara has my back.

I hope that scene is actually in the game.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so their's always going to be someone who will like the 'least approved' look/appearance. It wouldn't surprise me if they gave Liara another -slighty different- look for ME3 since Casey said that the team isn't done with ME3 yet.

It probably will be. Would BW make a demo that contains lots of footage not featured in the main game? Doubt it. I wonder if that scene was fixed, it seemed to take place pretty much mid game and I guess we'll have most of our perm squaddies by then. -- Even though BW said it works differently, Liara is in my squad from beginning to end. Period -- Anyway, I guess that means we will be able to take 2 different party members who will be doing the same combo Garrus and Liara did. Garrus did do a rifle butt though and since Tali doesn't have one, I wonder how they'll be fixing that scene.

Still the same face model; just redone or rescanned and tweaked for new graphics/engine and effect. But the actual face model based on didn't change, if that's what u meant. Personally she needed a tweak from ME2's LotSB really did right by Liara. Usually BW does better, DA:2 just did more than a few things wrong imo, seemed totally rushed - I think BW learned and thus why ME3 got delayed. No mas =)

ME3 Demo was still the LotSB used and with the ME3 mechanics maybe just wasn't tweaked for it I noticed the lighting was off for everyone.

In my universe it's always Shepard's fault, if Liara is in a bad mood.

Shepard: Please honey, just one more night. You will not even notice that Urz is sleeping in our bed!
Liara: Oh, Goddess.

I support random couple moments for ME3. ;)

Offtopic but I thought it was worthy of mentioning. Since Garrus has his nice Rifle butt and Liara has her nice finishing move in that scene, I hope the same goes for every squadmember. Since Wrex will be a temp squaddie I really hope he has some kind of punching move.

Just picture it, Liara (always in my squad) shoots 2 or 3 cerberus goons and then another 4th comes up behind her and prepares a melee attack. Shepard shouts: Liara! Behind! At the same moment, Wrex punches the cerberus goon so hard he is knocked out.

weird question, but has anyone else thought about what it'd look like under her head thingers? like if you peeled them back? is it all wrinkly like the back of her neck?

they're like head testicles basically all slicked back right? thats not just a really odd skull shape?

i dunno i was just curious lol

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Liara shoots 2 or 3 cerberus goons and then another
4th comes up behind her and prepares a melee attack. Shepard shouts:
Liara! Behind! At the same moment, Liara spins and stabs the goon with a biotic blade. Then Wrex says: "Shepard."

Some parts of that is not that diffrent from how I roleplay it.

My Shepard  waked up with a mixture of confusion and utter shock over the fact that he was breathing again. Considering the last thing he remember was getting spaced along with his suit VI telling him that his oxygen supplies were leaking and that he had a suit breach. The fact that he had been dead for two years also hits him pretty hard.

After escaping the station and finding out about the Collectors he joins up with Cerberus to stop them. Knowing that the Council and the Alliance refuse to do anything. By the time he reached Illium he is downright bitter at everything. Liara's cold attitude and her seemingly insane vendetta is simply the last straw and he snaps at her. Liara responds back in question and soon their reunion escalate in arguements with Shepard storming out of the office in the end.

His inability to come to terms with the fact that two years have passed makes him forget to look beyond his own horizon and understand that people beside himself have been hurting too. Which is why he only learns why Liara act as she does when it is too late and he had seemingly destroyed what was left of their relationship.

Question time for the thread.

So we know why Liara is attracted to Shepard. But why are your Shepard attracted to Liara? In short. How do you roleplay the romance from Shepard's perspective.

Well, it's a bit of opposites attract, and seeing something in someone else.  My Cannon FemShep was the classic overachieving kid.  Excellent student, friends with everyone (even the nerds), high level athlete, who turned out to be a War Hero.  Liara was the first person who just didn't care about who she was, other than after the rescue on Therum and Benezia's death, was just there for her.

In my Shepard's past, she had a boyfriend on Earth, and ended up breaking up with him due to the demands that being Special Forces placed on her.  Despite the frostiness of their initial meeting in ME2 on Illium, she understands what Liara went through, their joint willingness to wait, and she really does want marriage, old age, and lots of little blue children.
