The lighting in her office is just terrible. Far too much blue coming from the trading floor which completely washes her out.

By the way who wasn't disapointed in Liara's ME2 cameo? It's like Bioware decided to take the character and write it our of the story, but then the fans raged too much so they had to release a dlc to make it better. Why would they evern do that? >_<
Luckly LotSB was amazing, Liara's redesign was amazing, and the fact that she is a squadie again in ME3 is amazing, so... it's ok Bioware, I fogive you

They did it - much like they did with the VS and Horizon - to 'encourage' you to try the new LIs.
Thankfully I didn't have to suffer through ~9 months of vanilla ME2 and went out and bought LotSB as soon as I realized what it was (which was right after her Illium cameo).

Well they wanted to keep the VS and Liara out of the ME2 squad so they couldn't get killed. Both of them are loyal to Shepard (though much more so for Liara) so a good story was needed to keep them out the squad. A happy Liara not hunting for the Shadow broker would just go with Shepard on his mission so I think they created the cameos with this in mind.

My Liara-romancing Shepard is a Paragon Colonist Sentinel. He's a thoughtful protector of the innocent after losing everyone on Mindoir. He also avoids personal entanglements...until he meets Liara. Her vulnerability immediately hits his "serve and protect" button, but it's her knowledge and quiet depth that draw him in. Hiro (yes, that's his name; "now you know why I go by Shepard") has no patience for people who play games, and Liara's passion and straightforward honesty win him over, gently working past his defenses.Lizardviking wrote...
Question time for the thread.
So we know why Liara is attracted to Shepard. But why are your Shepard attracted to Liara? In short. How do you roleplay the romance from Shepard's perspective.
He stays faithful in ME2 because he trusts Liara. (Well, also because "quit" isn't in his vocabulary. That's part of how he survived post-Mindoir.) Their first encounter was painful for him (to put it mildly), but she was patient with him -- now it's his turn. He gets past her defenses, learns the truth (and files away TIM's lie for future SHEPARD PUNCH!-ing), and assures her that he still cares. He sticks with Liara throughout LotSB because of that same trust, and while he worries a little throughout the Vasir section, his trust and faith are rewarded in the end. He kind of hopes Liara will give up the whole Shadow Broker thing after the Reapers are dealt with, but that's her choice. Either way, he's looking forward to "marriage, old age, and a lot of little blue children."

If they wanted me to not be faithful to Liara, then they shouldn't have on the load screens about staying faithful or not staying faithful and the 'dire' reaction to it in Mass Effeft 3.TheMarshal wrote...

I suffered those nine months too. The DLC came out and I have played ME2 a lot more since then because of how great it is. I even got it for my PC verison that I have issues doing the bypass on.

I'll use my Sheps who didn't romance Liara as "guinea pigs" in order to find a way first which concludes in kicking the Reapers' ass once and for all and still saving Shep's and his/her LIs lives. This way I can ensure that all my chars who romanced her (no infidelity, never) will have a happy ending involving Liara, marriage, old age, and lots of blue daughters. Does that prove my devotion to Liara?
You have characters who didn't romance Liara? Intolerable! You must repent; Delete all those who did not romance Liara and start over. On the double mister.
On a more serious note, I'll be importing one of my soldiers first and just see how well my game ends. I'll be making plenty of saves during that playthrough though, that way if something happens to Liara I hope to be able to retrace where I went wrong and then reload an earlier save to correct that.

Out of the 11 playthroughs with my canon femShep in ME2, I importing the first one played in ME2. I lost both Tali, rocket to the face, and Mordin, died on while 'holding the line'. I think that one is going to be the most problematic for me.Robhuzz wrote...

Jack was my first LI in ME, but without Liara I wouldn't have bothered playing ME1.
She was the only one who hugged my Shepard and was really happy to see him.
That's why I bought ME1 and created a femShep for her. That's the reason why I love her Illium cameo.
I bought a game for Liara, that must count for something!

Yeah, someone once suggested it would have been better if Liara was simply too busy digging up a prothean ruin, and it being more in character. But I shot that down, by saying how much I'd hate Liara for not coming with me (on a mission where Shepard could die) because she wants to dig up dinosaurs. Nor giving Shepard any kind of support. I'd also think the writers would be playing it safe by just having Liara stay the same, and not change as a character, by having her do nothing but uncover ancient plot devicies.

For Liara to work out the same way would be weird. Shepard totally changed her life by dragging her along to save the galaxy from Sovereign and his geth. I honestly can't picture Liara to resume her old life after all this, not even if she wasn't romanced. I prefer it this way, Liara got a lot of character development (maybe a little more than I bargained for) and became a great central character to the ME story.

Ugh that would've been the same as Leliana's romance then. Regardless of whether you romance her or not, she picks up her old life as bard, only in service to the divine now. I wasn't too happy to see the romance never worked out, no matter what my warden chose to do after beating the arch demon (Travel, stay in Denerim, stay with the Wardens etc.)

I thought the romance was still going on though? I mean, the Warden disappears, but the relationship was suppose to still being going on, wasn't it?
Anyways, I like her story as is, because it seems like they're doing something with her character then just making her more of the same. It's taking her in different directions that bring up discussions. It's making her a more interesting character. And guess what, she stands out because of it. Before I think she only stood out because she was an alien LI that could be romanced by woman, and that's all she was by the majority. While now it seems she's gotten beyond that, and now taken more seriously, and treated like a character. Do I think they could have done a better job? Yeah. But I still think they did the right thing with her.
