I guess I just don't see it that way. I think Liara simply acknowlegeds the the fact that there is a (good) chance that they might not return.

"It can also be a way to say farewell."

It can does not mean it is.

Of course, at that moment, I felt it was just another thing, just another "just in case". But with hindsight, it was Bioware forcing us to say goodbye. I didn't like that.

edit : seeing as everyone else seems to have abandoned the thread in favour of more interesting things, I'll be calling it a night. Don't get into too much trouble while I'm gone. :P

I'm not worried about the Mass Effect Movie, as anything they show you in it will not be cannon, it will just be an alternate take for the movie like for example the Mortal Kombat movies, story wise they are completely disconnected from what happens in the games and none of the following games acknowledged them or bothered to incorporate them into the cannon in any way
I imagine the same will be true of Mass Effect, also I think there will be a higher chance of Liara ending up as comic relief (old bookish bumbling Liara) rather than LI, which I think will be Ashley

I read the leaked script, so I already knew my Shepard was doomed into becoming the next catalyst. Did not mean that I automaticly took Liara's words as "We are both going to die."

As you first said, her saying that it can be a way to say farewell was just a "Just in case.".

Maro is hardly my creation, you've brought this upon yourself. I simply pointed out your wrongdoings..

!

You.. I didn't do nuffin' wrong! I'm innocent as a babe I am! Okay, innocent as a babe is a bit of a lie, but I din't do nuffin' wrong I says!

S'all a setup! You're all trying to get Liara to hate me!

Not hate, just to dislike you enough that she ignores your praise and starts to pay more attention to the rest of us.
Mainly myself...of course.

About ME movie: Not gonna see it. Wont appeal to me anyway since they are rehashing ME1's story. Besides dont need to see another Bald space male marine lead again.

At least, there's a high possibility Liara would be the canon romance! bwahahahaha

I actually, really, do not want that.

Why not?

Same reason I wouldn't want my girlfriend to star in a porno with an ugly fat guy.

Okay, I love you know

I just didn't like the implied fatalism.  It was there in ME2 as well, but it still felt like Shepard was saying "Suicide Mission my ass!  I'm coming back from this.  We're all coming back from this."  And it's not like the others were laying on the "Oh god I'm never going to see you again" either.  Tali joked about angling for a promotion.  Garrus (Garrus) demands that you come back alive if you romanced him, as do Miranda and Jack.  With Liara it was just "Whelp, it's been quite a ride, but I know you're gonna die..."

Yeah...the Liara talk was depressing...especially when you knew what was coming.

What was with all the blue baby fanart? Am I the only Liara fan who isn't obsessed with blue babies?

*scratches chin thoughfully*

No no... there seems to be another fan out there... can't quite think of her name though... or was it a he?

All well... I'm sure there was someone out there somewhere who wasn't completely in love with blue babies.  But she's not important.

THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE!!!  I'M QUOTING SOMETHING FROM 200 PAGES BACK BECAUSE I'VE ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT I WILL NEVER CATCH UP!!!!  BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!!!!

*hugs crazy thread*

Hiya old Liara friends!  Hello new Liara threads!

Asari Opera night with Liara

snip

The issue is that every other game>movie has/had established characters to use. Every character had a set gender and back story. That is not the case for Mass Effect, the protagonist is either male or female, has hundreds of variations in look, a bajillion different ways the character can be for morality, and a hundred different variations on decisions for who lives and who dies. Turning something as fluid as Mass Effect into something railroaded is just turning it into a steaming pile of dung and disrespecting the fans of the game for the sake of making moar money off of it.
Edit: BTW, we ended up in a MP game earlier, not sure you noticed I was in there or not! /uploads_user/1070000/1069890/28023.gif
