Liara is strong, but not as strong as Shepard. She's no soldier. She's a researcher on Protheans when they first meet, and then she's the Shadow Broker (which did toughen her up a bit).
Thessia was a huge thing for someone like her to take in. Shepard's spent years getting used to the deaths of the people he cared about. He's fought in wars. He's seen friends die. Liara had Feron. And he lived. She did have to kill her mother, but she reacted accordingly.
My point is, Thessia is the only major loss she's ever encountered. She wasn't overly close to any of the crew in ME1, so she wasn't torn up by their loss. Not only that, but they knew the Reapers were there. They thought they had the tools to stop them, and it would all be over. Then everything was shot to hell.
Liara has every right to be upset about what happened on Thessia. It's completely understandable.
One could argue that of all the ME characters Liara loss the most, given that she was involved in the murder of her own mother
