Liara is strong, but not as strong as Shepard. She's no soldier. She's a researcher on Protheans when they first meet, and then she's the Shadow Broker (which did toughen her up a bit).

Thessia was a huge thing for someone like her to take in. Shepard's spent years getting used to the deaths of the people he cared about. He's fought in wars. He's seen friends die. Liara had Feron. And he lived. She did have to kill her mother, but she reacted accordingly.

My point is, Thessia is the only major loss she's ever encountered. She wasn't overly close to any of the crew in ME1, so she wasn't torn up by their loss. Not only that, but they knew the Reapers were there. They thought they had the tools to stop them, and it would all be over. Then everything was shot to hell.

Liara has every right to be upset about what happened on Thessia. It's completely understandable.

One could argue that of all the ME characters Liara loss the most, given that she was involved in the murder of her own mother :(

Murder is a bit of a strong word here, and implies things that did not happen. Shepard was forced to kill Benezia, not murder her. But let's not forget depending on Shepard's background, there could be a lot of loss in Shepard's life too.

Compared to some of the others, that's really not anything huge. Garrus lost his entire unit because of a betrayal from someone who was his friend. Tali's father is killed, and she's charged with treason against her people. She then learns that her father caused it all. Thane lost his wife, his son hated him, and he's dying. Ashley watched her unit get slaughtered on Eden Prime. And the list goes on and on.

Thessia was just a knife in the back to Liara. It was horrible. Not even the death of your mother can amount to being charged with saving a planet, failing, and then watching as your people are wiped out.

Oh godz mordin, I'm almost up to that part on my super renegade playthrough.:crying: The best way of coping with ME3 renegade playthrough, is to think of it as Shepard finally going insane.

I don't think he/she should console her. She is all like "They're dying in the millions!'" in this angry tone. How many humans and turians have died by then? Imean if anything Shep should call her out on it.

Yeah.. Being a paragon, I tried to convince him, but he wanted to make a noble sacrifice. I just respected that, and mourned his loss. But I felt... proud... that Mordin would do that.

And I think it was argued elsewhere that the asari aren't exactly big on civil war and all that, so her own people dying in large numbers must be something of a shock to her. Turians and humans were killing each other since they knew what their fingers were for, at least the humans were. So human deaths on a large scale, nothing new, except that it's a Reaper invasion, and every human out there is at risk. But I'd also say we should remember that Shep was all "We'll stop them with the Catalyst" and being so sure that the answer was on Thessia, Shep was equally gutted and surely would have felt some sort of guilt at the fall of Thessia. It'd feel very personal, I imagine, being there and not being to stop it, again... And seeing Liara so hurt, and Shepard being so hurt as well, couldn't they just prop each other up?

It would seem a bit (headcannons aside) OOC for shepard at that point. The dreams and overall state of shepard at that point is questionable.

Yeah  I have to agree with Andronic on this. Liara loses the most (Worse if romanced..)

Best Case Scenario: Mother,Shepard,Homeworld, and finally Shepard again.
Worst case scenario: Mother,Shepard,Feron,Tali,Garus, homeworld, and then Shepard again.

Oh Liara. If only you could remember that my Shep stayed faithful to you in ME2 and rekindled the relationship with you in the Liar of the Shadow Broker DLC. All that blue baby talk was for nothing since apparently Shep is just a good friend in ME3 to you. :( game immersion broken.

I contacted the Mass Effect twitter about that and sent them the link to the forum about it to...Hopefully it gets fixed and patched soon :o

Yeah, I am slightly aware of all those features. ;)

I don't have the PhD yet though. And I'm a biologist, not an archeologist. Although funnily enough I've got blue eyes as well, obviously not as amazing as Liara's.

Anyway, I THINK I'm finished the next section of the story. It was quite hard to think of how to wrap this one up and it took a while, but inspiration kinda struck and I think it works. And I don't actually have a title for it yet. That'll take another flash of inspiration tomorrow before I actually post it.

I'm really happy with how its turned out. But again I'm probably blind to problems with this one given how much I've obssessed over it. I'm PMing it to Luxure and moreeman06 now so if you guys could take a look over it at some point and point out any massive problems or things that don't work or are inconsistent then I'd appreciate it. And all being well it should go up tomorrow.

Just as soon as I think of a title anyway. :P

I would love to read your story man :)

I would prefer Honorary member then, Omni Tool compatibility engineer seems rather...mundane, sounds like a real job in the ME universe

- - - -

Yeah you are right murder is not the right word, but Liara had to fight her mother and said fight resulted in her death, thats a pretty though thing to have to go through, as for Shep loss it would have happened years before

All those things happened in ME2 though, I was talking about ME1 I meant to say she had it the thoughest in 1, her mother's death hardened her and then Shep's death 6 months after even more, I would think

But even so although losing your unit is though specially if you knew them for more than a couple of months or you where betrayed from within, I dont think you can compare that to losing the person that gave you life and reaised you to your enemy and being forced to fight them to the death

And also, Shepard, Garrus and Ashley are soldiers, whereas Liara is a scientist. If Shepard and his/her team hasn't found her on Therum, she might still be there, doing her research. The things that happened to her after meeting Shep might have changed her, but she is still not as used to seeing that much death as compared to the others.

Wow.. this thread moves so fast!

Anyways, finally beat ME3 (I know, took me long enough..), and this basically sums up my reaction to it:

Yes, and living with that for 1000 years has got to screw with your head. I also find what Javik said most ironic: 'Remember this, soon your memory may be all that remains.'

In two of the current endings all that remains of Shepard is a memory. I also think that was the point of the last sequence with Liara. Not only was she sharing her conciousness, she was also solidfying Shepard in her own memory.( Not Shepard the soldier, but Shepard the person.) At least I think that's what they were going for.

Well I guess there is some good in unable to headcannon.^_^

Hi all, this is my first post on the forums. This might be a bit off topic, and not sure if it's appropriate but I wanted to share it.

After developing a total infatuation with Liara in ME3, and becoming way too invested in her relationship with my FemShep, I was inspired (by this thread, actually) to do this little design for a shirt/sticker/patch/etc. It's for any of you out there who were as sad as I was that you didn't get to see all those little blue children. :?

If anyone is interested, I can post the direct link to vote for it on Threadless (again, not sure if that's appropriate here).

At the very least, I hope you enjoy it!
