Well I believe that the Lazarus project might've increased Shep's lifespan for possibly two centuries.
Liara could might as well be a Matron when Shepard dies (if his lifespan was increased), so she may be able to cope with his death, as she would have matured. Because in Redemption, it shows that she did no take it easily and still missed Shepard, that's why she recovered his corpse.
Why do you believe that? I mean, about Shepard's lifespam being stretch by Lazarus?
I'm just amazed that in that future, with so many futuristic medical wonders there's not a single serum that could make humans live longer.

The average lifespan here in the US for males is around 78 if I remember correctly. Shepard says a lucky man may live to about 150.
What do you mean they don't live longer?

Well, compared to krogan and asari.......... (mostly asari since I'm thinking about Shep/Liara's relationship here)
(Of course, we beat the crap out of any salarian's lifespam at least)

I mean, I'm not completely enamoured with the ending, but I'm not gonna demonise Hudson or Bioware for it
It'd be like writing a letter to Scott because you hated the way Thelma and Louise drove into the grand canyon - So what?
I'm not furious or frustrated, but I still like the idea of the Extended Cut - Liara's back, no?
Isn't that enough...?
No you're not. I'm not furious or frustrated either. I thoroughly enjoyed the game up until the Citadel and it gave me plenty of Liara to placate my Liara obsession. I'm willing to ignore the ending and enjoy the rest of the game because it was such an awesome gaming experience.

I'm with you guys. Have been since I beat the game. I don't get all the frustration really... And I'm just as emotionally invested in the franchise as anyone else on this site.

There's some mind sex, right there. See how quick it is? Yegh... So... guy.
But there's already solid gene therapy in the ME verse. Plus we really don't know the extent of Shep's cyborgization. Probably most organs remained organic and all that, with some cybernetics here and there. Since ageing, and dying, is caused by the degredation of DNA (I'm guilty of gross oversimplification here, don't kill me, Lightspeaker), assuming the important bits don't really use DNA so much as they use machines, and regular gene therapy can keep the squishy bits going, Shep can live a long and healthy life, with her little blue kids, and she'll even watch them grow up!
Hell, my Shep's gonna watch her baby Medea grow up into a beautiful young asari, and may even be around to watch the first union.

Yeah, Liara is short. But... nicknames are sometimes used as signs of affection and all that! It's almost compulsory! No, not really.. But it would be nice... I shall meditate on this..
And, well, Shep's made of damn stern stuff. And there are probably some Cerberus mods in there that help Shep break down most alcohols and toxins.
And we suddenly have a prolific blue baby artist! Keep'em coming! lol.

The game was actually pretty damn good!
But the last thing a player experiences in a game is the worst time to do something really stupid, since that last experience can severely sour the flavor of the entire series. That is one of the biggest reasons to exit a long running series on a high note, not completely unexpected and out of place forced doom and gloom.

I would expect Shepard to live into the late 300s at the very minimum with the upgrades she got from being resurrected. Her and Liara have a long time still to share themselves and have children!

I don't think it ended with something really stupid though. I dunno, it just doesn't bother me. They could've been better, but they could've been worse too.
Also, Kilshrek I meant to ask you about that line you just quoted! We were discussing nicknames for Liara last night. I was wondering what you'd have to contribute to the discussion.
I'm all for Lia, Leery, and Blueberry.

Leery? That's asking for a singularity....
Blueberry is the unofficial canon, and nobody can say no to it.
Lia? That could work, sounds unique, but slightly disjointed. I've seen Li used a fair bit, but that's just slicing off ara.
I shall have to meditate on a nickname for Liara. I must align my midi-chlorians.

Right...I still play the game as the combat is quite enjoyable as are a lot of the SP missions.

Both my Shepards are retiring so they'll have plenty of time to spend with Liara. Yeah, both took the destroy ending though I wanted Rachel to do a sacrifice ending b/c it would fit her troubled repentant sinner arc..but the sacrifice endings kinda suck...so she'll just get to live on a beach with Liara...oh well
They won't be used to being around each other that much...I wonder what they will do?
Edit:
There's this thread with some paraphrased comments from Weekes about ME3/the ending for those interested.

Nonsense. Leery loves my nicknames.
Lia is my favorite though. And I'm the only person I've seen use it, so I guess it is somewhat unique lol.
The girl needs more pet-names. Blueberry isn't enough haha. We need more. MOAR I SAY!

It's a reasonable conclusion to draw since Cerberus basically went all out and as a terrorist group isn't concerned with any of the laws concerning human augmentation and genetic engineering. Though in Shepard's universe humanity was subject to widespread genetic modification prior to first contact, Miranda being an example of the extreme end of things with her lifespan being about 225 years by her own admission ("Half and again" compared to the average human which is already 150 years). Shepard is stuffed full of cloned organs and cybernetics which according to that research terminal studded every muscle fiber in the body and glow in the dark if you think mean thoughts or some rubbish.
So being able to punch Yagh and fire weapons that would break human bones as well as survive grevious injuries leads me to believe that Shepard after Lazarus is way more than the average human. More along the lines of a transhuman.

So we can easily assume that Shep will get at least 250 years out of the new body. That sounds reasonable
I tend to think that even during ME1 Shepard was always more kickass and stronger than the average human. Can't say if its the N7 training or Shepard is just THAT awesome. Maybe both. So I never questioned her punching yaghs
Btw out of curiosity, where does miranda say about her lifespam? sometimes I'm a bit trigger happy and some conversations got cut during my gameplay <_<
