The "Unofficial" Patrick Weekes interview was a good read, while I may not have high hopes for Extended Cut DLC I will say that now Patrick and the other writers are getting a look at the ending they might be able to patch it up into something that at least feels cathartic rather than horrible and depressing. The endings will never be "good" since Starchild is going to be in them and that character is a horrible idea and everything it brings up are horrible ideas that just come out of nowhere.
But if it doesn't feel like we exterminated the galaxy, wiped out civilization and all the characters are stranded on some godforsaken hell hole for the rest of their now considerably shorter lives, it's got a little potential. You'd at least be able to play the endgame without vomiting multiple times!
Which is great because booze isn't cheap.
It was pretty obvious from some of those paraphrased answers that they did NO external user research on the game, at all. I'm pretty sure that had they done so, they would not have been 'surprised' by the way fans took the ending, they would have had that feedback to work on before launching a disaster. From a professional stand point, there were quite a few really bad decisions and complete disconnects between the producer and lead writer and the rest of the deve team and most certainly the fans who enable them to collect a paycheck (or in Chudson's case, buy his airplane). What he described with budget limitations and such is pretty par for the course, especially when you have a parent company that is expecting to line their coffers with profits that will help keep their doors open, lights burning and executive bonuses and retirement accounts funded.
