The "Unofficial" Patrick Weekes interview was a good read, while I may not have high hopes for Extended Cut DLC I will say that now Patrick and the other writers are getting a look at the ending they might be able to patch it up into something that at least feels cathartic rather than horrible and depressing. The endings will never be "good" since Starchild is going to be in them and that character is a horrible idea and everything it brings up are horrible ideas that just come out of nowhere.

But if it doesn't feel like we exterminated the galaxy, wiped out civilization and all the characters are stranded on some godforsaken hell hole for the rest of their now considerably shorter lives, it's got a little potential. You'd at least be able to play the endgame without vomiting multiple times!

Which is great because booze isn't cheap.

It was pretty obvious from some of those paraphrased answers that they did NO external user research on the game, at all. I'm pretty sure that had they done so, they would not have been 'surprised' by the way fans took the ending, they would have had that feedback to work on before launching a disaster. From a professional stand point, there were quite a few really bad decisions and complete disconnects between the producer and lead writer and the rest of the deve team and most certainly the fans who enable them to collect a paycheck (or in Chudson's case, buy his airplane). What he described with budget limitations and such is pretty par for the course, especially when you have a parent company that is expecting to line their coffers with profits that will help keep their doors open, lights burning and executive bonuses and retirement accounts funded.

I just hope Liara knows I was trying to make peace, by turning the Reapers and the galaxy into hippies. Soon, the Reapers will be planting trees, and believe in love, not war.

What kind of life do you think Liara will live after ME3? I doubt being the Shadow Broker will matter much, since not everyone is buying secrets anymore.

No worries chickenman! I can't name characters after people I know for exactly that reason and thankfully I don't know anybody named Colleen.

They completely assassinated Shepard's character in the last 15 minutes. No matter what they put into that extended cut it still will be crap. No offense to anyone but character assassination cannot be explained. It can only be re-written so that the character isn't assassinated and they aren't doing that. So frankly the extended cut will still be crap no matter how you look at it.

They should seriously add more dialogue to shepard in that scene

No they need to either get rid of the AI child or add options to tell the AI child to screw off, or convince it that its logic is wrong. Shepard would never willingly listen to an AI and do as it said. Seriously look at how Shepard has given the Reapers the finger, given the Geth the finger unless they were fighting at her/his side, only listened to EDI when it has suited her/him.

They completely assassinated Shepard's character and there are only two ways to really fix that. Again get rid of the AI child thing, or add in options to tell the AI child it's wrong and to go screw itself and to take another option other than the RGB color options we were given.

She could still use her resources/network to help build the galaxy.

In my universe, she'll spend a lot more time with Shepard, though.

I still see shooting the pipe as a big FU to the StarChild, as far as action goes.   But more dialog would be nice.

All right, gotta go sleep, but I'll work out a nickname for you, and Liara. For now, you shall be Madmiral, in honour of the mad Admiral.

Genius, right?! I know. :P

Okay, good night all. And, as with anyone who has to leave this thread for sleep, I can only hope that the conversation doesn't explode as I slumber.

That's all based on opinion. None of it is fact, so I'd appreciate it if you'd not try to shove it in my face. No disrespect intended, but I don't have a problem with it, and it feels like you're insulting my intelligence because of it.

Okay LizardViking this is for you,and whoever else asked.

This is what you get if Liara is the one to shoot Kaidan:

After the Citadel debriefing with Anderson and Hacket. Liara will come and mention the distress callfrom Asari high command.(The one that triggers the Samara mission.)  She will look upset and you get the following:

Shepard can ask Liara:

Paragon: Are you alright?
Renegade: Ill let you get too it.

Liara(Response to Paragon):Not after what we went through on the citadel.Maybe we can talk about it later.
Liara( Response to Renegade): Right.(Seems miffed at Shepard.)

Cutscene ends. Go down to the crewdeck and she will be in the lounge.Go and talk to her and the following will happen.

Liara: I've been thinking about major Alenko. When I first came on the normandy, Kaidan was so helpful.Always ready to explain protocol,or to talk. I was glad to meet another biotic, apart from you. It made the other humans on board, seem less alien. I wish there'd been a way to end that stand off without his death.(All of this dialouge is the same regardless of Paragon or Renegade. It Shepard is a non-biotic class, Liara won't say  the 'apart from you' bit.)

Shepard Dialouge (Paragon): You saved us and the council. It was the right descision.
Shepard Dialouge(Renegade): Kaiden should've stood down.He forces us to take that damn shot.

Liara (Response  to Paragon): I'm more relived to hear that than you know, but Cerberus wont sit back after there coup failed. What I want now is information on this cerberus assassin.
Liara (Response to Renegade) We're lucky more people didn't die. I'm sure Cerberus isn't through with us.

Then it goes to the dialouge about Kai Leng also being N7, just like LadyVader mentioned.

Note: This was a Renegade Jane playthrough, class was Vanguard, imported save that included LOTSB, and Liara romance.

Any questions? (Is my formating understandable?)

I go the sense both of them were really tired from the war and all the weight on their shoulders running an info network, building an army, formulating strategies and running logistics for a super project. With Shepard the exhaustion is obvious but Liara I felt like it manifested in her frequent flights of fancy about just running away with Shepard and letting "someone else" take care of things. I think she does it 3 times by my count, once on Mars with the "What if we're wasting our last days?" again in the "Flatterer scene" and during the Romance scene. Whether Shepard survives or not I think Liara just wanted to to find a little slice of peace somewhere, away from a bustle and the aftermath of the war.

Country farmhouse, long dirt road and a field of wheat out back. That sort of stuff, and just be incredibly boring and content.

What are the parameters for shooting Ash/Kaidan?

I shot Udina right away: I used paragon interrupt to calm my team then used all the paragon chices avaiable... then renegate interrupt to shoot Udina.

I don't know if any of you read this blogpost yet but it was very difficult for me to keep my cool after I did. I'll definitely try to write this asari-hater a well thought and polite answer when I have some free time.

Think twice before you click on the link, this diatribe could upset you in the worse way. You were warned, it's not for the faint of heart PETA member ^_^

I actually did leave him a comment because to read it you'd think the Bioware was the first to ever think of, or use a monogendered society. He obviously hasn't read Ammonite by Nicola Griffith, totally worth a read because when I read it I couldn't help but wonder if some of the Bioware folks had read it because my mind immediately jumped to the Asari when I read it.

If Liara could read that  blog the poor author would have probably been exploded into a million little pieces by her singularity or maybe my FemShep's biotic charge.

Well on this(Ultimate renegade playthrough) I chose all Renegade responses to Kaidans ******* on Mars.Diden't visit him at the hospital. Then at the confrontation, I dident use any paragon or renegade interupts. I diden't use the response that makes your partymembers back down either.

Liara will only shoot Kaiden if James is the other party member. If it's anyone else the other party member will do it.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin has something similar..though they go through reproductions cycles for a few days each month where they turn into either 'male' or 'female'....so one cycle you could be the man, the next cycle, the woman.  So, just like the asari, you could be a mother and a father to two different children.

Yeah, definitely not a new concept.

Interesting. It's nice to hear about it, I usually don't go for renegate choices so it's nice to see there are some diferences there.

But poor Liara for taking down Kaidan...

Btw, did Udina died? Or lived?

I'd say that's still up in the air.  It seems they (writers) had disagreements about it.

AHA! So I'm not crazy to think that answer sounded fishy! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie]

didn't EDI die if you picked destroy?

Aparently not, she will appear coming out of the normandy if she has the highest "friendship" rating of all your companions (not including the LI), best way to achieve this is to not talk to anyone besides her during the game.

I may have to check that out, Ammonite made me think the Bioware writers had read because of the scene where they actually show how they reproduce and it actually made me wonder if that was similar to how the Asari do it. Made me wish we could have one of those "lots of little blue children" so Bioware could show us because I think that would be very interesting to see. 'Cause you know the scientist in Liara would have to explain what was happening.

Yeah but It might be a bug, someone forgot to turn a flag when you pick the destroy ending or something, I think EDI has the lowest "friendship" rating so it is hard to get her to come out, in the same vein Javik has one of the highest frienship scores attainable so a lot of people get him (myself included, and I freakin hate Javik )

Edit: retro top

I don't know about Ammonite, but I liked The Left Hand of Darkness.  It's older (1969) and is considered one of the earliest 'feminist' Science Fiction stories because of its take on gender.
