I think you can look at like this: AY are always a pureblood, while not all purebloods are AY. Again, the codex are being pretty vague about this but that is how I view it anyway.
So, eventhough Liara is a pureblood the risk of having AY children is probably quite low since she most likely will have them with Shepard, a human. And don´t forget that only 1% of the asari population is belongs in the AY spectrum (this implies that there are different "degrees" of the syndrome, kinda like with Autism, which indicates that Morinth and her sisters probably suffer from the worst type of it).

The banshee codex refers to "active or latent predispositions to become Ardat-Yakshi"

Well, that does support the "spectrum" explanation.

Man... I've got a strange feeling inside me after reading this. I feel impassioned. *cough*
Anyway, I warn you, it's mature content.

Sorry I have to quote my post but I'd like to suggest everyone to read this. I would like to force you into reading this, but I can't, which makes me sad.

Found this amazing Mural artwork, this one is in the ancient Asari style shown on Thessia, even if it references the ending it's so great I can't not post it

Good Lord this thread moves fast. I play 2 rounds of multiplayer and look how far we have gotten.

Don't Worry Yuqi I wasnt eating at that time, and I do approve of your gift they would make anyone feel better.Image IPB  Still I can't believe anyone would do that to Liara.

I suppose I should have warned you that some of Rae D. Magdon's stories are as he puts them smut. But he does have a few that are clean and very funny. This one is very humerous, thought I'm not certain I will ever look at Anderson the same way again, or Aria for that matter.

An episode of the show Enterprise featured a genetically engineered monogendered race used as a means of slave labor and as living incubators to carry the fetus of a child to full term for the aliens that created them. They were androgynous, which is how the asari really should have been portrayed if you go by the codex' explination of their species.

Now, I'm not complaining about a race of "blue beauties"...but scientifically the codex and in-game models basically are incompatible.

Biologically that makes little sense. For every member of a species to be able to produce children in the way asari do they have to have the biological traits necessary to both carry and nuture said children. The fact that asari have breasts at all implies the mammalian-like trait of milk production for nursing.

I can't say I watch Enterprise but their interpretation of an androgynous species makes absolutely no sense whatsoever in that regard as they would not be able to actually raise the children. To carry the fetus and give birth, yes, but not to actually produce an raise an infant.

Regarding Ardat-Yakshi: as I understood it it was entirely down to repeated asari-asari meldings. A bit like an extreme version of real-world recessive genetic disorders.

Anyway, this conversation is getting too technical. Have a little blue baby:

Now *THAT* is nice.

Ahem.

When they emerge from their sleep,
Our lives they come to Reap,
and their charnel house to keep,
To enslave us all within them.

But a flame stood defiant
her courage to others pliant
a banner, ever reliant
To liberate us all and end them.

Peoples, large and small,
hear her clarion call
with faith will they stand tall.
To gather all and stand against them.

Traitors and tyrants
will try her alliance
and find themselves in silence
To cull the unfaithful and unify them.

The evils of the dark
shall not douse her spark
False choices to embark
To refuse the false and rebuke them.

Her sacrifice is known
For all new life is sown
New tales eged in stone
To progress all life and renew them.

Well, in my synthesis head cannon, Shepard more or less literally becomes a Goddess, orders the Reapers to fall into the sun and then guides the people's of the galaxy as her children.... and of course, subsumes Liara to her side so they rule the universe! ...don't judge me!

I don't know how you can order the Reapers in the Synthesis ending while you're dead, but hey! I thought only in Control you can... control them, y'know.

You do not control the Reapers in synthesis, they leave out of their own free will.

I know, but when you're the template for all life, and a goddess at that, you have the weight to enforce certain things... like the extermination of giant space cthulu crabs that kinda lost that right to live when they keep culling people like cattle.  Besides, they no longer have any purpose in the synthesis ending, they're made for the express purpose of Reaping. And since Reaping is no longer required, they can fall into a star!

And really, I worked hard on that poem! D:

mm I was looking over ME wiki and I found something interesting to share:
"Ardat-Yakshi are a disgrace to the asari culture. It is suspected that this condition is what lies at the root of the asari prejudice against purebloods. Samara, a pureblood herself, states that the condition is as old as the asari species, and that it appears only in the daughters of purebloods."

knowing our lovely Blueberry is also a Pureblood and according Samara's words... do you really wanna have "lots ob blue babies"?? since this could be the trigger of having AY descendants for Shepard and Liara...

As far as I understand, if Liara is not an Ardat-Yakshi, and she'll make children with Shepard/a member of another race with the exception of the Asari, there is no risk of having an Ardat-Yakshi. If she has a children with another Asari (though I don't know if she has to be a pureblood), there's a risk that the child is an Ardat-Yakshi.

I just remak in bold what confuses me. Samara said that, and as far as I understand her words, that means pureblood daughters are the only one capables of being Ardat-Yakshi. What I don't know (and what you understand) is if it's necessary an Asari/Asari pairing to have AY or it isn't :) I guess if we know who was Samara's mate we'll know the answer, since her 3 daughters were AY and Samara is a Pureblood.

@Devil: Look at what I marked in bold, is the same you said, "only pureblood daughters are AY", and Liara is Pureblood too, that's why I ask all this:)

Its ok because its only for pureblood/pureblood matings and she has Shep plus Liara is a quarter Krogan:D

As for the Asari nibbling I guess we are all ok with that now,  Kil you have been redeemed

Edit:   Brooks very nice poster although that ME3 logo is blanking out the best part
