I think we stated that he's a terminator,  I personally like to think that Shep is Wolverine from the X-men either way he can't die by mortal means, it'll also explain how he survived a blast from Harbinger without having his face melted off....

This also means that the little blue baby's will be invincible.  Think about it a 1000 year+ lifespan, unmeasurable healing factor and eventually adamantium coated bone claws.  They will be the ultimate soldiers:devil:

"impatiently waits for this fanfic to be written"

lets see here.....

Liara:  so if you were to be one superhero who would it be
Garrus:  the Dark Primarch
Shep: Who?
Garrus:  Space Batman....
Shep:  Ok well I'm Wolverine
Liara:  Shepard you definately aren't
Garrus:  Yeah Shepard you may have been brought back to life but you aren't indestructable
Tali:  and you don't have metal blades coming out of your hands
Shep:  Well when was the last time you saw a scratch on me during battle
Liara:  never but.....
Shep:  exactly never because i heal super fast
Garrus:  and what about the claws you don't have those or you would've used them already
*thought bubble with Tali watching Shepard peel the flashlights off of Geth using claws*
Tali:  yeah but it would be pretty sick if you did have them
Shep: Who says i don't
Liara:  Shep i sleep with you i know you don't
*points hand at Garrus and blade unsheaths from between knuckles*
Shep:  you were saying
*retracts blade*
Shep:  Also Liara our children are gonna be indestructable to just so you know
*Shep gets up and walks away*

I do think it takes away from a sad or bittersweet ending if there's a clearly better one available. Having to deliberately sabotage your character takes away from investment.

Which isn't to say that satisfying my penchant for heroic sacrifice is more important that your desire to see a happy ending. Just that offering choice isn't a simple solution.

There are many people who chose the ultimate sacrifice ending in DAO, despite there being an alternative that'll make you survive. The existence of the dark ritual with morrigan doesn't seem to bother those who pick the ultimate sacrifice ending at all. In ME3 it would also not come down to such a choice, getting Shepard killed should be the result of a low(er) EMS, which can be achieved by simply not doing those fetch quests.

Those who want 'Shepard/LI lives, galaxy isn't screwed' get their ending, those who want Shepard to get him/herself killed because they're feeling that somehow he or she must die, also get their ending. Everyone is happy.

But nooo BioWare wanted to add an ending which made 95% of the fanbase unhappy, and probably even themselves. I'll never comprehend that decision...

Its not a bittersweet ending if theres no sweet aspect to it. The current ending is nihilistic, existentialist garbage that is best summarised as "life sucks then you die".

I'm sorry but I already knew that. I don't engage in escapism to be reminded of it.

 GUYS GUYS!

For all those headcanon lover out there... And fic lovers... I found this oh-so-nice epilogue generator.

If I got THIS out of ME3, even as a VERY LONG text by the end I would have been ELATED.

Here it is...

Thats what I said ages ago. Stop depressing me in my happy drunken state! More Liara discussion and pictures!

As for the latter...I don't think it has a name. It requires two biotics. :P

Came up a couple(?) of days a go. Always worth a repeat though. Although... YEARS! God damn, if I was Shep, I'd be cracking the whip like no one's business.

Yeah that saddened me a bit but when the final slide came along and showed that letter by Feron in which he said Shepard & Liara had a daughter now, the sadness was replaced with joy^_^

Watch the one where Shep is with Thane.  OMG, that was hard seeing her snap on Shep about replacing a dying man's dead wife.

Ahuh, made up for the years bit. And then.. Shepard lives a reasonably long life. My headcanon will say she lives as long as Liara, because of all those mad scientist upgrades, and on account of the advancement of medical technology.

Shepard isn't entirely human anymore, and what human bits she has, can be fixed with gene therapy, prolonging life to a ludicrous extent.

That's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it.

Haha, exactly. And then Shepard goes... *what's that line they always use in star trek?*

edit : A good position doesn't need two biotics, you anti-biotic haters! Soldier Shep is perfectly capable of doing some heavy lifting for the more manual, technical positions, and for everything else, Liara's an asari biotic, lest we forget..  She lifted two Cerb troopers like tissue paper. Going to the ceiling, supporting Shep's weight is nothing. Just... don't break her concentration too much. It's a good idea to hover over the bed, all the same.

Same here. Same here. I won't headcanon it so that Shepard lives another 900 years but he will live long enough for Liara to reach her matriarch stage. At which point most Asari (including Liara) are no longer interested in starting a new family or settling down if their partner has passed away. Liara will still be incredibly sad when Shepard finally passes, but she'll find comfort in that she still has her daughters that remind her of Shepard, and she'll find happiness in her work and in guiding the younger Asari generation, much like Benezia did and Aethyta tried.

Only she won't have a falling out with another Asari and be forced to raise a pureblood daughter on her own when she's 800 years old:P

I have to say that I fundamentally think that the femshep/Liara romance works a lot better for me on an emotional level. I don't know why. Maybe its the voice acting. I always imagine maleshep as being more inclined to get together with Ashley or Miranda (although my one maleshep runthrough is with Tali) whereas I can easily imagine Femshep/Liara.

I get what you mean, for me personally the opposite is true, I always picture Maleshep with Liara, or maybe Ashley but not with Miranda or anyone else and femshep with Kaidan, perhaps  Thane if he would not have been gotten the shortest stick ever in ME3
