Okay, I have three things to say to this thread.

Firstly, has anyone played Crysis 2? Because I keep imagining the suit computer voice saying "Maximum Liara" or "Maximum asari".

Secondly, the fact that the main Liara thread has gone without a single new post for over a day makes me a very sad panda indeed.

And thirdly;

Good job keeping the tradition alive. First post on a new page must always have blue in it.

I thought we sort of decided to move to the ME3 character forum because the ME2 forum died out when this one opened, which is why all of us are now posting here. Maybe the OP will make a nicer opening post one day and it'll be as good as new.

And no I haven't played crysis 2 but what do you mean by Maximum Liara? As if there could ever be too much liara..=]

No such thing as too much Liara.  :innocent:

Here is a question for those that have Liara/Shepard living happily ever after.

How does the name thing work?  Neither change last names?  Both become Shepard-T'Soni or the other way around?  Just curious on what others thinks on this.   I would keep both with their last name and no combine them.  That might be a little weird considering everyone or most know Shepard by name.

The entire bondmate ceremony seems to resemble human marriage a whole lot. Wether this means two partners also take eachother's last names is unknown as we know so little about Asari bonds. Sometimes when two people are married both of them take a double last name so neither has to give up their own last name. This might be a nice compromise for Shepard and Liara, I suggested the name Liara Shepard-T'soni before and think it sounds alright.

But to be completely honest I don't really care about wether Liara takes Shepards name. What's important is that there actually IS a bondmate ceremony. I certainly wouldn't want to end ME3 with Liara heading back to the base and getting an epilogue like: "Liara restarted the Shadow Broker network that was all but destroyed during the Reaper invasion. Even though Shepard and Liara stayed together for many decades, the two never married, as Shepard had once suggested."

I don't like the idea of them combining last names and whatnot. Just does not sound right. better they both just keep their original names.

well i think they both will get to keep their last names, in most jobs you will be known with what you was before you were married. So i guess they will be known what they were before the wedding

No name change. It's a human thing.... Liara is the most non-stereotypical asari I know, but I would like to see more differences between humans and asari. And if there is a ceremony it should be very weird in our eyes. I want more human - alien conflict in their relationship.

So what do you think Shep and Liara would wear? I see Liara wearing a wedding gown of sorts? What about Shep? Military uniform? dress if a woman, tux if a male? casual clothing?

is the bondmate crememony of religious or secular value? o.o sooo many questions

There is literally no information about bondmate ceremonies.  Samara's SB dossier mentions a bondmate gown that was given up when she became a justicar, and I think it was mentioned somewhere that bracelets were exchanged, but that's about it.  Everything else is up to us, until BW gives us something tangible.

My Shep isn't much into the military, so she wouldn't wear her dress blues to the ceremony.  I doubt she'd wear a traditional "white wedding dress" either, though.  Probably something classy but non-traditional.  She's no clothes-horse, so she'd need a little help figuring out what to wear (Kasumi?  Miranda?  Anyone??)

Damn, so we know clothes are involved. I was gonna vote for a Betazoid type naked wedding (which when you think about it makes sense since Liara's mother is Deanna Troi)

It would be very strange if Shep took Liara's name or vice versa since no-one even knows what Shepard's first name is. I can imagine even after years of being married Liara will still call Shepard "Shepard" and sometimes "Commander"

So does everyone think an asari wedding would be most likely or would Shep want a human wedding? Or maybe a quickie wedding on the Normandy? Trouble with that plan is the lack of a Captain.

You know, I don't think I "romanced" her in ME1; (FemShep), yet, there's that scene is ME2 after the SM where I look at her picture as if I DID romance her. I think I heard the dev correctly, no?

Did you by any chance actually have Shepard flirt with Liara all the way until Ilos where you said no to having sex with her? Because saying no to the sex scene does not break up the romance.

I've been thinking on the Liara romance, and I wanted to pop in real quick and ask for others thoughts. With all the happy wedding talk and speculation -- I hate to be a negative nancy or sour susie, but I've been mulling over this thought for a day now.

Liara will stay beautiful and will continue to gain strength for centuries. Shepard will become older and weaker They're going in two different directions. Shepard would have to deal with the fact; Liara is going watch Shepard slowly fade into becoming weak, old, and ugly.

I feel incredibly guilty/uneasy about this. Does anyone else? I don't care if she moves on. I would want her to be happy after my death, but putting her through my twilight years? I don't know, I just feel guilty about that part. Like I would be a burden on her.

Well..there have been numerous talks about Shep and the implants... how he/she could live slightly longer than 150 years old.... besides Miri who will live slightly longer than average....

I'm uneasy, but my Shep and I prefer not to think about it. Only krogans live longer/as long as asari... so their kind of used to seeing their partners pass long before they do....

be happy Shep's not a salarain- they die before 40 years old O_O

This is a race of people who bond with krogan, turians, batarians, hanar...  I doubt a few wrinkles is really going to ruin Liara's perspective of Shepard, particularly after they've had a lifetime together.

I'm not worried about her perspective of Shepard. I think she will love Shepard no matter what. She brought him back from the dead. It is the perspective of having to watch an ageless beauty that you love, watch you slowly die. I just feel bad about that. I can't put my finger on it, it just makes me feel uneasy.

My Shepard would leave before it got to the twilight years.  His pride wouldn't allow him to be an ever-weakening burden to be doted on while Liara remained at her prime.  As for when those years come, I have no idea.  The pseudo science in Mass Effect seems to be able to lengthen human lives to 150 at least, not to mention Shepard is a super-enhanced cyborg.

"Is this the lifespan talk?  We're not having the lifespan talk!"  ;)

I'm sure it'll be difficult for Shepard to eventually start slowing down while seeing Liara still going strong.  I imagine there will be a great deal of talking about it over the years.

What about alzheimer's? Or losing the ability to properly move?

Yeah I've thought about it. Makes me think of an episode of Buffy where Mayor Wilkins talks about not aging while his wife did: "I married my Edna May in aught three and I was with her right until the end. Not a pretty scene. Wrinkled and senile and cursing me for my youth."
Sad thought but hopefully Shepard and Liara will have many years of happiness before Shep dies. Or maybe the Reapers will win and they won't have to worry about it.
