I wonder why Miranda never bothered to tell Shepard the truth about how they recovered the commander's body after she starts to become loyal over for Shepard instead of Cerberus.

I'm sure she had her Reasons...  <.<  /shamelessplug

It was decent. Althrough I prefer my own headcanon though! ^_^

So what's your reasoning for why Miranda never mentioned anything?

It could be that they don't  want Shepard to know all Cerberus's projects and what-not. They can do some realy messed up sh@#$.

Okay maybe I miswrote what I meant. I don't have a reason for why she never tells it. Because in my headcanon, Miranda is the one to tell Shepard the truth about Redemption. My Shepard never got to learn why Liara acted like she did during their meeting on Illium (Shep and Liara argued and in the end Shep just stormed off).

Miranda tells him about it much later where she is actually starting to appreciate him as a person. Things just start out as simple small talk with Shepard being a brooding jerk, Miranda ask him if he's still bothered by the reunion. Shepard gives an honest response where Miranda finally decides that "I guess I owe you a little honesty". Thinking that Shepard might be better off if he got the whole story. Favor for a favor so to speak.

"EDIT"

That fanart looks good.

Randomness!

But I have to ponder the question why Miranda never tells Shepard.
There could be alot of reasons, but it's all speculation.

Because they wanted Liara to be the first to tell Shepard and by having Miranda say it as well they couldn't guarantee Liara would be the first? Also, even when Miranda is loyal to Shepard, her loyalty to Cerberus does not falter until (apparently) just before the final boss fight at the collector base. It's entirely possible TIM forbade anyone from telling Shepard how his body came into the hands of Cerberus. It also fits nicely with TIM's lying about Liara early in the game as an attempt to isolate Shepard from his (previous) friends. Even if Miranda was loyal to Shepard, she wouldn't go against TIM's orders.

It's the most possible explanation.
I would scratch the isolate Shepard from his friends though. He is only lying about Liara. I always wondered why he wants to keep Shepard away from her, not from Tali or Garrus.
Maybe someone can explain that.

This is the main reason that I absolutely love this game. There are holes that allow the player to create within the game. I don't want everything spelled out because then it takes away from each us us creating our own world.

In my Shep/Liara world, Liara had made that request (to not tell Shepard) to Miranda and she was honoring it.

I also personally never thought that TIM was trying to keep Shepard away from Liara or he would have said she was somewhere else and doing something else. "She's on Thessia ... married with blue babies." Image IPB

OK, back on a semi-serious note ... As far as TIM goes, he says that she is working for the Shadow Broker because if Shep knows that she is looking to destroy the SB it will take her off-task. Liara taking on the SB? I have got to stop that crazy gal! She'll get herself killed! That is how I play his comment on her. Shepard will always help her friends out and TIM needs her focused on the collectors. He knows that she will be there for her friends and uses it when it serves his purpose (see Horizon & VS) ... "Hey Shep, your friend blah, blah ..." Image IPB

Or maybe TIM says that because he really believes it. Liara has been putting mis-information out there and maybe she played him at least momentarily? After all, Shepard is sent to her for info on two recruits later on.

If TIM wanted to keep Shepard from Liara why send him/her to Liara? That part always confused me ... dang it TIM, make up your mind! Do I trust her or not?

From my "romance" RP she doesn't reveal what she did to Shepard because she not only fears that Shepard will hate her for it, for being weak and selfish, for giving Shepard's body to "that" group ... but because it will lead to talking about "us". It has been two years of grieving and while Liara wants Shepard, she is also afraid to have her back in her life. To need her that much again.

She will tell what she did though if Shepard pushes her, but I never choose that path with my femshep since it would be out of character for my Shepard. I prefer the two being confused, unsure and leaving things unsaid ... at least for the time being.

But that is just me ... I am sure that others have their own RP reasons.

Liara was the only old squad member TIM did lie about.  That bugs me to no end, so does TIM keeping an eye on the asari's relationship with Shepard.  Why?

I also get a feeling that he is playing with Liara and with Shepard.  He used Liara to get Shepard's body.  Here is another question that has been bugging me for a while.  Why did TIM tell Miranada and the very beginning of ME2, to make sure we don't lose Shepard?  I would not be a bit surprised if TIM set the SSV Normandy up to be ambushed.  How else are they going to get Shepard to help them?

I just don't trust Cerberus.  I do think that Miranda was told not to tell Shepard much of anything.  Jacob wasn't even suppose to tell Shepard s/he was in a Cerberus facility.

I've always wondered what that meant as well. Was Miranda going to be sent to seduce Shepard?

If he did know and somehow arrange for the collector's to attack the Normandy, I don't think he expected or wanted Shepard to be a crispy critter ... if it was a set-up, I can see it now ...

TIM: "Oops! Did I do that?"

Miranda: "Brilliant! I hope you don't expect me to seduce him/her now!"

TIM: Image IPB

Miranda: Image IPB

Of course, the thought of someone trying to seduce Shepard away from Liara reminds me of this picture previously posted ...

"Step away from MY Commander Shepard!"

Note: I love the character Miranda Lawson so this was not meant as a "hate" comment. Hell, I would love that to be TIM's weapon of choice against me!

@Kadzin

Maybe people on this thread don't trust Cerberus. There are some that are upset that Cerberus is now after Shepard even though they kept the collector base. And are very pro-Cerberus. I just don't see how anyone can think that way after playing Overlord and seeing how David was treated. He was saying, "Make it stop." the whole time even if you couldn't really understand it.

I made a banner for times like this:

TIMmy wouldnt set up shepard if he didnt know he could get her back. its more likely cerebrus was spying on shepard just in case something went wrong and humanity's only hope was in serious trouble and needed help

TIMmy knew the council was trying to bury the reaper story, its not unlikely he thought the council sent shepard out into the traverse to hunt geth with no safety net: if the spectre that raised the alarm is gone the reaper myth dies with em

I really doubt that TIM set Shepard up. For one, his "Then see to it that we don't lose him" was a respond to Miranda being concerned that loosing Shepard might be the doom for the Galaxy. That the Collector ambush is the next scene is simply most likely for dramatic purpose.

Also if he did plan it. How would he be able to be sure that Shepard would be in a recoverable state? Shepard could have easily ended up disentrigrated by the laser beam or get spaced and instead of landing on the planet, just stay adrift in space. Shepard could also just as easily gotten away alive if it weren¨t for Joker's stupidity.

That was the very beginning of the game.  Right after you and Jacob get to Wilson.  You blew up the two crates with overload  and Jacob comes out and says "will you trust me if I tell you who we work for?"  Wilson replies something like, "If you want to tick off the boss, it's your ass, Jacob."  I stop take Jacob with me after picking up another squaddie.  Kasumi, Zaeed, Mordin, or Garrus.  Jacob sits until it's time to do his LM, then he sits the rest of the game.  I don't even talk to any more.

You are right, that could be the reason.  TIM might also know about the Shadow Broker and dealing with the collectors as well.  When it comes to Cerberus, I can see the very worse humans do to each other.  TIM is arrogant

I also believe it took longer than two years to rebuild the Normandy.   But I don't think that the ship was built for Shepard specifically.  It wouldn't surprised me if it was though.

Hello everyone
I'm a big fan of Liara since I played Mass Effect for the first time and since my first playtrough on Mass Effect 1 I romanced her with 8 Shepards (mostly FemSheps) through Mass Effect 1 and 2.

In my opinion her confidence in Shephard is something unique. Most of Shepards friends and comrades believe in him but they still have concerns about his missions, in both games. But she (even if she's afraid that Shephard maybe dies) trusts in him. The fact that she wants to continue their romance made that clear to me.

But...having the ship blown up and having to retrieve Shepard's frozen corpse is a really foolish way to make sure that Shepard remains alive and willing to help Cerberus.

Cerberus being behind the Normandy attack would be quite facepalm worthy.

Which a lot of Cerberus operations end up being just that.

Like I said, it was something that has been bugging me for a while now.  Just like it bugs me that TIM lied about Liara at the beginning, but then gives Shepard intel to help Liara get to the Shadow Broker.  Another move by TIM to put people in a place he wants them to be at?

Maybe some of these questions can be answered when March finally rolls around.

TIM and the SB were two of the most dangerous persons in the galaxy and rivals. When Shepard kills him and replace him with one of his most beloved, TIM wins. He knows where the SB is and knows nearly everything about her. After killing Liara he would be the best "Broker" in the galaxy.

So putting them in the right places sounds like a good theory.

It wouldn't make much sense for TIM to give information to Shepard regarding the Shadow Broker, that's why I had (a more Shep-loyal) Miranda do it in Reasons.

TIM might try and kill Liara, but that would be the last mistake he ever makes.  Liara might lose the SB base, but if she gets the intel to help Shepard, I doubt she will care at that point.  This is especially true if Liara is Shepard's LI which is mostly likely those that post here.
