I hope they add that to the new clarification DLC!
I don't expect it though.
I don't either. But to be honest? They should. And I'm not just saying that because "Oh happy blue babies and sunshine and rainbows and crap" This is the end of Shepard's story. The very last time that Shepard will appear in a game. Why the hell shouldn't they be able to give her/him a decent sendoff? Not some "Oh wow, did Shepard take a breath?!? Yay! Shepard lived!!!" crap, either. Because that sort of thing only flies if there's even the possibility that the character will be used again. But if this is really it, if this is the last time we're going to have a chance to see our Shepards in all their 3D glory, I want a freaking happy ending. Chop off a limb if you really need some level of sacrifice to feel "fulfilled." But for frak's sake, give us SOMETHING...
This definately, who here thinks they should have made TheMarshal the project director. Then maybe we could have gotten something fulfilling for everyone.

It really is the mark of a bad writer if it's supposed that the only way to end a character's story is for them to die. I am okay with Shepard dying in some endings, but not every ending. A perfect playthrough should give you a happy Star Wars-esque triumphant ending, because ME is a space opera. Not a Shakespearean tragedy.
A perfect playthrough should get Shepard retiring, and that's the end of his story. You can have an epilogue that gives him a sendoff, but he doesn't have to die to not be used in any more games.
I mean, after ME3, if the galaxy was still intact and such, and some new threat arises - just have it be that Shepard is done. He's flown under the radar with his LI and isn't around to save things anymore, leave it to some new protagonist.
This too definately, this is one of the defining problems I have with the ending. I'm a completionist, I do everything I possibly can to have a full game. Every side quest, every planet scanned found everything I could possibly find and I'm still "rewarded" with a vague "deep breath" scene. My crew and LI that I spent the last 3 games building relationships with are stranded on Gilligans Planet and if you take what the Starbrat says at face value then with the destroy ending everyone is screwed. They wouldn't have had to do the entire Star War medal scene or anything but if they would have shown the Normandy swooping down over the rubble and your LI running up to find Shep that would have been completely suficient for me to declare this a perfect game. The rest of the stuff about the relays getting destroyed and stuff I could have "speculated" or headcannoned and I would have been just fine with it.
