I did noticed that ff.net changed Shepard to F and M, but I didn't know they defaulted it to femShep.  That is a win right there.  

I don't know if I'd call it a "win", 'cause it basically sets everyone looking for FemShep stories off where they were before, which was not knowing whether a story is going to have ManShep or FemShep.  All those completed or abandoned stories with ManShep are going to be forever marked with (F).

Still, it's about damn time they did that!

And uh...  Liara!

Love the pic.  I really need to record a ME playthrough and a complete ME2 playthrough.  I think I have found a song I like that in a way fits Shep/Liara, but I don't want to use just LotSB for the video I will attempt to make.  Key word is attempt.  I won't say it will be the best one made, because it won't.  I do try.

The reason I said it was a win is because the default for all the ME promo has been MaleShep.    


I will admit though, if you are looking for maleShep stories and they are buried in with the femShep will be a pain to find them.

Very soon. But there's 2 problems:

1. It's a long chapter... but also one of my favourites in the whole thing. So I keep reworking it because I love it.

2. My hand was crushed by a metal cleat in a rugby match recently. Makes typing for long periods hard.



Also to the person asking about fanfiction, from what I have read I recommend anything by theMarshal, jlb's incomplete (but completely awesome) story, and there are also a number of stories that jlb linked me a long time ago. PM me for the list. Also Jack of the Blades has a couple great maleshep stories.

Admittedly, I haven't read ladyvader or Kadzin's yet. I need to do that.

You might want to (eventually) use less specific filters since tagging isn't perfect - only two chars which works for romance only (you won't find a story about Alice, Bob and Charlie that's tagged with Alice,Charlie if you filter by Alice,Bob).

Also note that M-rated stories are not shown by default, and explicit scenes are not legal under the site's ToS.

Where you should start would depend on how much time you have, what genre you want to read, etc, etc. I think CGI is quite funny but that recommendation won't be particularly helpful if you are looking for a drama/thriller (whatever these things are called)

So far so good, never expected fanfic to be this good, always though they were annoying love stories or some sobby love rubbish like twilight.This is my first fan fic I have ever read. First impressions are good.

Don't fool yourself though, 90% of all fanfiction is garbage anyway. Well, in my opinion at least. You have to sift through tons of teenagers' fantasy to find something worthy.

I only read fanfics I find here in the Liara-thread. Quality seems to be quite good. Althrough I did accidently wind up reading a Garrus/Femshep fanfic which I can only describe as a teenage girl's giant crush on Garrus written down.

Most (~95%) fanfiction stories are love-related, just like most songs, most movies, etc.  There are definitely good stories and bad stories out there.

I refuse to read fanfiction. I just can't stand reading someone's idea of the character vs my idea of the character. Or read alternate scenes that never happened. It messes with my memory on what's actually happened, in game. And then there's just the plain porn.

Really? There are some really good ones out there. I don't see whati is wrong with getting another interpetation of a character (as long as it is well writtenn of-course).

But would you be so kindly and give my fanfic a chance. I swear there is little naughty in it!

To each their own.  I like really well-written fanfiction because it's characters that I know and love in a universe that I know and love.  Granted sometimes they portray characters in a light that I disagree with, but even those occasionally will help me look at those characters from a different POV.  Hell, that's why I'm a much bigger fan of Miranda now.

In other news, my wife has been playing Mass Effect (as a FemShep who romanced Liara.  I swear I had nothing to do with that!  )  She just got to Illium last night and said that she got some dialogue from Liara where Liara chews her out for working with Cerberus.  Now, I admit I've only played through the game with Alice, so my selection of dialogue is pretty limited, but I've never heard of any such dialogue.  Have any of you?  And if so, how did you get it?

Anyways, I think it just comes down to me not liking how "romance with fave character" focused they are. Same with the pairing kind. And the fact that they aren't canon kind of turns me off as well.

I actually find those fanfics that are outdated somewhat interesting in a way. They are like a relic from when fans did not know what would happen now, so it was almost like they are a look back to what the fans expected (or wanted) back then.

And if it might change your mind. My fanfic is basicly a very small monologue from Liara's POV.

I think it's the part where Liara pretty much calls you a hypocrite. "Says the dead Spectre who's now working for Cerberus" when you tell her not to become the thing she's hunting. Yeah, that line pissed me off. Especially because I got it without her telling me about how she saved your body.

I didn't think so...  She said that both Liara and Tali chewed her out for working with Cerberus.  Maybe she just got confused?  I haven't had her read Redemption yet.  That'll be interesting.  And then of course there's the whole LotSB thing, too.  I love watching her play 'cause I get to experience someone else's first-time through the game!  She was so pissed off at the reception she received from Liara!  I was like "Honey, join the club..."

I have played it many ways both with Liara being the LI or not and I don't remember any time where Liara chewed out Shepard for being with Cerberus.  I do remember during the cabin scene with my Shep that was just friend with Liara and Shepard comments about Cerberus and being careful and Liara just said, I gave you to them.  I trust your moral compass.  Something like that.  

I have never heard Liara get snippy with Shepard about Cerberus.  About another LI, yes, Cerberus, no.

Dang, I was wanting to wait before creating another femShep to be with Liara.  Actually, I was planning on two more femShep actually.  Now I might start ME tonight.  

About the fanfic.  I enjoy reading most of it.  There are two things that annoy me.  One are one-shot stories that when I finish reading it and I go where is the rest?  I have read several like that and they just seem incomplete, but they say complete.   I've tried to write one-shots and I just can't.  I can add to my stories with smaller ones, but I just can't write a few pages of a story and that's it.

Two, are those that redo things from the game and just change it.  That is just me.  If that is what they see from their Shepard, who am I to say that is just wrong.  It's just their view.

I think the best feeling ever in a game is doing your first playthrough and not knowing what to expect. I always try to cherish every moment because I know when I get on to playthrough #35925 i'm not going to have that same feeling, lol.

I mean, in hindsight if I found out something that spoiled the SM for me I think I would have been hella' pissed off because not knowing what will happen made it so intense.

Like TMA said. She does make the "Says the dead spectre working for Cerberus" if you tell her to watch out and not turn into the thing she is hunting. But she does not carry a negative tone there.

Honestly. I really don¨t think she criticises Shepard for working with Cerberus. Tali does, but not Liara.

If you do cabin scene before the SM, Liara will say she doesn't warn you to not trust Cerberus because she was the one that trusted them with your dead body. And it would be hypocritical of her to do so.
