True writing them as characters instead of genders is always good.  I haven't read your latest chapter yet I'll do that when i get home.  as for preferences I don't really mind who writes as long as its a good story.  although i do tend to notice that female writers focus more on the characters in my experience while male writers are more about the plot although neither group neglects one or the other

We also do not know their writing process ... because a male wrote it does not say that he doesn't talk with females in his life or vice versa. It's that process that is really in question and that is really up to what works for the author.

An actor may use the method while another uses the Spencer Tracy approach. As the audience you don't know where the actor is pulling his craft from ... you  just see the end result. It's the same with writers. You see that one indiviuals name on the book but you don't know how they crafted it.

I'm guilty of having the predisposition that good (fanfic stories, at least) are written by female authors.    It might just be a stylistic preference of mine, though.

For the most part, I tend to write Alice and Liara (and their relationship) without taking into consideration that they're women.  Not that I think of them as men.  I simply don't take gender into account unless it's pertinent to the story.

I feel like male hobby writers are in general just rare.
I enjoy both styles of writing, besides everyones personal style.

From J.K. Rowling, to Simon Beckett. For me it's more about, if I want to suffer, cry and laugh with the characters.
Or if I want to be able to join CSI, with my detailed knowledge of decomposition.

And because this has nothing to do with Liara: Have some Mass Perfect. B)

That's an edit a friend made for me when LotSB first came out. I used it - scaled down of course - as an avatar for a long time, only recently switched to my current one with the release of ME3.

I really like the LotSB one though, the expression on her face is perfect. Looks totally blazed. She is feelin' that mellow mood hard.

To my knowledge that scene also does not have any differences between a Liara romancer Shep and a non Liara romancer Shep.

Yes, it's weird, I know.

I didn't want to derail the thread like I have done. Apologies, just forget it.

hey...hey there *paragon interrupt hug*  noone here meant to say that, I think they were saying that your writing was good enough on its own that they don't feel you need the outside perspective.  *looks at rest of thread*  see what you've done

It's fine, you don't have to dress it up. I don't even have the confidence to manage a damn narrative by myself, how bad is that eh?

Hate being bad at everything.

As for the conversation about male vs female writers. I tend to have the same prejudice in that I always assume good fanfic writers are female. Dunno why.

Found an awesome... more than awesome Mass Effect music video with some house music in Flux.

Mass Effect - DJ Hawk Palaven @ Flux

Oh Liara's eyes... so sensual. Too bad Cerberus didn't restore Shepard's dance moves.

You should see the other stuff datSilencer has done.  Time Orchid is pretty incredible, as is Anger.  I think aside from DJ Hawk Palaven @ Flux, my favorite is the little ad he made for Afterlife.  He's got a page on vimeo, which I think he prefers.

Well wtf...how do ppl make this stuff? This was awesome. Loved that asari in the white!

Then your friend must have heard wrong. Because Liara always calls him a friend, although that is her reply in the paragon option. Could Liara perhaps have some romance exclusive dialog in the renegade respone?

I was talking about what the end prodcuct reflects and not the process I know there's different processes. I personally like to be a shut-in when i write and in rare circumstances ask for opinions and stuff while i'm writing, unlike you for example when you said that you take opinions and advice as your writing.  sorry if i didn' make that clear in the first post.

edit:  and lightspeaker i wasn't trying to dress it up I haven't known anyone in this thread discounting trolls that would bash a writer for any fiction and your stuff is really good even in the early stages that I've been seeing it.

Liara prefers to deal with grief privately. We saw that in ME1 with Benezia, when she's even more thorough in shutting Shepard out.

I probably wouldn't have acted like Shepard does in that scene, but I think Shepard actually got it right. What Liara needed was someone to jolt her out of despair and guilt, not a shoulder to cry on.

I agree with this. Paragon interrupt is the right thing to do. However I think the scene would have benefited from a hug or something.

Quick question to
all Liara fans: What did Shepard's life with Liara look like to you
after ME3? What were you expecting? Where did they end up in your
head?

Just reposting an earlier question for more feedback.

I imagine my Shepard becoming one of Liara's agents, acting as a morality chain in case the power goes to her head and she starts getting ideas.

The renegade response doesn't change if you romance her. She just talks about how the Normandy crew are proud of Shepard.

You know Stieg Larsson didn't just wake up and invented a female character on pure chance. He asked himself, what would Pipi Longstocking be like in the modern world.
So he didn't ask Astrid Lindgren for an advice, but she was a big influence.
My point was, that male writers, can easily creat good female characters and don't have to be nervous at all.

Or in other words, you don't have to have boobs, to write about boobs.

Nothing to do with Liara, but a nice comic book version of the Destroy ending, where you see more of your friends.
