True writing them as characters instead of genders is always good. I haven't read your latest chapter yet I'll do that when i get home. as for preferences I don't really mind who writes as long as its a good story. although i do tend to notice that female writers focus more on the characters in my experience while male writers are more about the plot although neither group neglects one or the other
We also do not know their writing process ... because a male wrote it does not say that he doesn't talk with females in his life or vice versa. It's that process that is really in question and that is really up to what works for the author.
An actor may use the method while another uses the Spencer Tracy approach. As the audience you don't know where the actor is pulling his craft from ... you just see the end result. It's the same with writers. You see that one indiviuals name on the book but you don't know how they crafted it.
