Who says it was all done in 6 months? They might've been bigger than what was let on early in the series, just cause they didn't flash their muscles doesn't mean they didn't have any. Unless it's stated somewhere..I really have no idea of their Origin.

LotSB directly tells you they aren't that big. You find out there that TIM/Cerberus are broke and exhausted. So yes, he goes from almost completely tapped out, to gigantic galaxy threatening super power, in the span of 6 months. That's absurd, single rich guys help and ability to indoctrinate people or not.

Especially since, as you can see in ME3, for what he gains from the Reaper tech, he also *loses*, because lots of Cerberus people start breaking away from Cerberus and abandoning him and the group.

Fair enough, and there's no way the brokers information can be wrong or incomplete? I just think it's a little too easy to hop on the "lawl makes sense non" train sometimes, there are alot of things that just aren't completly fleshed out, but that dosen't mean it's not there.

I agree with a lot of things you post.
As a character driven story, the epilogue is totally meaningless for me. I couldn't care less if I saved some Stargazer that I have no idea who he is, just some stranger. That was supposed to bring closure to the story... well it sure as hell didn't work in my case.

http://social.biowar...07/blog/212032/

"The lack of any kind of context for the ending means the whole
thing feels unfinished... . And thats a failing which means that many
people won't leave satisified, because theres nothing for them to really
reflect on."

"Then the narrative all kinda goes pear shaped. You speak to the star
kid but you dont really know who the hell he is and probably don't
really care, you don't know him and he's not really part of your
motivation. Then you're given a series of choices with consequences
disconnected from everything you've done previously. You're not invested
in the decision really because you've only just found out about it. You
duly make your choice...

...and it results in basically nothing
of any relevance. Oh sure, the Reapers go away in one way or another but
thats about the extent of what you get to know. The real motivation of
your journey was never "defeat the Reapers", it was "save the galaxy".
Did you do it? You never really find out; you might guess that with the
Reapers destroyed the answer is yes but nothing ever tells you that. The
outcomes have got no connect whatsoever to your previously established
motivations or actions. The consequences that you first started out with
in mind are ignored in favour of a cut to credits."

Had to add my support to your statement about "we don't care about that"; but I couldn't think of better words than what I used in that blog. :)

Not to mention the fact that ME1 states outright that the more indoctrinated you are, the, in essence, stupider you get. Of course, TIM isn't going to be too affected considering his indoctrination is much slower, but if Cerberus is as indoctrinated as I'm led to believe, then their troops should be far more incapable than they appear. It's increasingly apparent that Cerberus is simply a plot device. Canon and lore go out the window as far as they're concerned and that's pretty lame. There are other ways that Cerberus could have been a pain in the ass without making them into a super power. It just seems so contrived....

As much as I absolutely love LotSB and Liara in general, the one thing that has always always made me headcanon part of the conversation in LotSB is the bit where Liara says "It's been 2 years, we're different people".

My first Shepard was Nyalla Shepard, the name I always use first in any new game and is a ranged damage dealer. Hunter in WoW, Infiltrator in ME 1/2/3, Gunslinger in TOR etc etc. I mentally add in extra dialogue:

Liara: "It's been 2 years, we're different people"
Nyalla: "Liara, for me it's been 2 MONTHS! I still reach out for you in the night, I can remember every line, every curve of your body, every time I think of those old songs I used to laugh at, I realise that you really ARE the last thing I think about at night, the first image in my head in the morning. Don't try to push me away, because just as you couldn't let me go, I DON'T EVER WANT TO TRY!".

I just wish I could hear Jennifer Hale say those lines

I think a strained "Liara, for me it's been 2 months." might sting more than a full confession in that public moment.

EDIT: Wait, was it public? I forget when exactly she says that in LotSB...sounds like I need to replay it, LOL. *gets ME2 disc out*

Pretty sure it's on the SB ship, either just after the fight or during the chat before she comes to the Normandy for drinks.

Where does the Shadow Broker Dossiers say TIM is broke?

Uhhh... Still can't see Liara as a smoker, or as a sith. No offense. Here's some nice traditional art for balance.

The sith is weird, and maybe not cigars, but I sure can see Liara hittin' up some of that :420:. Nerds gotta unwind too, and that's something that generally goes along well with nerdy hobbies and activities.

And she's a rather calm, collected character herself, so it'd make sense she'd enjoy it as a way to relax after a hard days work of archaeology, or even studying during her school years. Not to mention, Asari seem rather more socially liberal about things like that anyway - just look at Illium and their culture in general.

Gotta agree here. I like Liara blue and smokers don't turn me on. No offense to those of you that do it, but it's something that grosses me out.

I don't buy that this one dude is more powerful than the Shadow Broker, either. I'm sorry, it just doesn't fit. The Shadow Broker role is built up too much throughout the series for me to really accept this.

I hate pointing out the obvious…OK, I love pointing out the obvious…but the Shadow Broker is “one dude”, too.

I just replayed LotSB. It was awesome. I think it is better that Shep don't pick the "I didn't come here just to talk about data". I choosed goodbye intead and Liara called me back to talk about the kiss. This makes me think that she's more concerned about our relationship. I choosed the "Let's be friend" to see how it would change and Liara was sad. Darn! I told her to visit the Normandy next time and got some lines about " I don't think people like us have dates" and her voice when I came back was ... smexy . She mentioned Hacket gave my dog tag to her when she returned it. This didn't happen when I choosed "fond memory" last time.
And now *reload to choose "I have fond memory the last time you put pressure on me"*

I have a hard time imagining that Liara would use drugs, She always seemed like a nice girl, not a drug addict or smoker

Keep in mind that the Shadow Broker's wealth has not been garnered by a single Broker. It's been gathered across many years and multiple Brokers have improved upon it. Also, the Shadow Broker is privy to secrets that could potentially sell for millions, maybe more, in a relatively short time. While we do not know how the Lawson family aquired their wealth, the Shadow Broker's is more believable and can be speculated upon. We don't know if Daddy Lawson built his empire himself (which would make his funding of Cerberus highly improbable) or if his family has built it across several generations. If the latter is true, it would be more believeable. However, considering the sheer amount of power the Shadow Broker possesses, and how much wealth that can be acquired through that power, I'd say that for BW to have us believe that Daddy Lawson is in the Broker's league, in terms of wealth, is... well, crazy.

By the way, what kind of sci-fi would there be in the Mass Effect universe? There's basic agent-action stuff like Blasto, but... They're already "scifi", what could top that? :3

I thought “one dude” was in reference to TIM, actually. Overall I find the Shadow Broker to be far more overplayed especially in the start. A super-secret intelligence organization that everyone knows about and that one person – be she very smart and dedicated – can track down in <2 years? Nah. Their credibility is about equally strained for me :P
