See, this is kindof the issue. I realize that it's just a flycam capture so it can't show off her ****** or something - but what I mean is this. You say it'd be different if it was just her boobs, then I might have a point.

I think what it is, is just the impression I'm getting here - and I could be wrong, but it's my feeling none the less - and it's that, were the in game model actually fully detailed, I feel like the midriff thing would show off her ****** but then cut off just the same, without showing her head or anything.

If you think they still wouldn't do that, then I'm more inclined to call it artistic. I'm just getting the impression they aren't pulling a full on Miranda on me only because they can't.

Thats never the impression I got from it. I always felt it was just showing off Liara's skin texture.

I find a simple beauty and art in all of 'em (no im not confusing beauty with arousal..). AS sunnie says it could be psychological thing as I like to think I know Liara's character on a personal level which adds to the appreciation. However - the whole naked thing (breasts or not) is supposedly a symbol of both intimacy, vulnerability, honesty, could also be freedom and comfort etc etc- theres others but Im not gonna list em all (same could be said for the waist photo/womb it could mean fertility, maidenhood, that little blue baby future we dream of *sighs* damn you bioware etc). I see pics like that...its not porn im looking at, its not a reduction of the individual im seeing as a simple sexual piece of meat - its not what the image is trying to say...its a declaration of those things i mentioned without the use of words. Thats what im appreciating. That and the technological advancements games have made to make stuff like this look so damned good.

Okay, true, but personally I don't think something being "nsfw" automatically means it's tasteless.

Perhaps, you're right. I do find it much more tasteful with the head part included, and I can see your argument about it just showing off how well detailed her skin texture is, then.

However, I do want to point out - most of the time the head part isn't included. It's just people posting the midriff.

Given that there is a head part and people are intentionally leaving it out, can't you see how that's a reduction of her character?

Well, I know I sent pictures of Liara's ass to Stanley, and he didn't have a problem with it, since it was in a Character Romance thread.

But honestly, there's more to Liara then her body. Also, some people who wonder here might not want to look at it. Some people may want to view this page at work. etc.

Example, if I go into the Kaidan thread as just a visitor, do I really want to see his body, and his ass?

No.

Would you, being the non-Kaidan fan?

It might just be me, but I see it only as skin now. The picture that Lightspeaker posted up there is great however, there's.. emotion? I'm not sure, but I appreciate her face and her character more than the naked pictures.

Its really, really annoying to try and get them to align properly (in terms of putting the space in so it doesn't look weird) and it means you have this big gap in the middle which some find off-putting. Most people just don't bother, especially when they're just posting it to admire her skin.

I honestly don't have an issue either way how people post it. Doesn't somehow invalidate Liara's character or objectify her in my mind. Guess thats just me. *shrug* I mean perhaps its a little overused, but I've kinda got used to how people tend to repost the better old ones.

In any case...onto ME2 now so I'll be able to boost my own picture collection with some new ones.


Edit: I guess what bothers me about this whole thing is the underlying implication in what people are saying that admiring some physical aspect about someone undermines your appreciation for their personality or anything else about them. As a comparison - if someone were to start talking about how much they love Liara's headcrests, does that person suddenly have no appreciation for her personality?

I know what you mean. There is a fine line between a tasteful nude and just a nude. It's not unlikely that the latter one gives a rather cheap impression. It could be a little detail like the posture or something like this. 
I like the midriff picture because I really, really like the texture on Liara's body. But I agree that it would be nice to also see her face because I like that even more  The face....well...it's just Liara...the midriff could be any blueskinned asari.

 Also Luxure thanks for offering to go over my next fic I'll pm you what i have so far.  Same goes for anyone else that wants to offer their opinions on it.  I'm working on a little story about the evolution of Shep and Liara's relationship and I'm trying to mix the third and first person perspectives in a way that the story still flows and doesn't sound muddled or confused,  currently i'm not sure if i'm accomplishing that i just want some feedback before continuing any further that way if it isn't working I can change the perspective without writing the whole story.

I loved that part! (Big fan, btw. I'm pretty sure I like Del better than my own Shep ... ) I'm on my second read-through of your fic right now. I'm replaying the trilogy (again) and using Dark Energy as sort of a supplement to get me through the "dryer" side missions stuff. Actually, I have it open on my iPad to read while driving the Mako to designated points ... I'm sure the squaddies don't appreciate the worse-than-usual driving. 

I have to say - going back to Feros after reading Del's adventures totally changed the experience. I could almost smell the thorian creepers and imagined how gross-warmish those areas were. When they would get close enough to melee, my thoughts jumped from "mushrooms ...." to "keep your mouth closed, Shep!!" And when it was all over, I totally swiveled the camera over to Garrus and Liara and wished for your lines ...

I've played through those missions so many times, but thanks to your fic, it's like all-new game content for me.  Thanks so much for writing!
