Sorry to be rude, but don't... say that. Control is the worst possible ending. It shows Shepard giving up. He/she drops the gun... and then submits to the Catalyst's logic and commits a horrifying suicide. Seriously, I can't look at it. It supposedly makes the least amount of people die, but it is the ultimate defeat of Shepard, because he/she gives up. Shepard gives up. That's not how it should end... I can't watch it without breaking into tears. So horrible.
Why BioWare?

Since I romanced her all the way from 1, and when I first played through 3, I was surprised that she called me "friend", and there seemed to be no different dialouge for relationships at all. It seems the most interaction with Liara is when your on the Citadel, which I think was a beautiful place for it. I still wanted some things that changed.

That's just one thing I do not understand. How hard could it have been to alter that scene to a romance variant? There really should've been one. The entire first part when Liara talked about Benezia and her buying her first history book (I think it was) could've been the same. The next part could have been replaced by something as simple as:

Liara: It feels strange, we are here while so many innocents are dying out there.
Shepard: *sighs* I know Liara. But we cannot save them all, no matter how hard we try.
Liara: But despite all this, I'm glad we can spend some time together. I've missed you...
Shepard: I've missed you too...

*Shepard puts his arm around Liara and the view zooms out and turns to black as Liara puts her head on Shepard's shoulder*

That's 4 lines of dialogue (6 since Shep's lines have to be recorded once by Meer, once by Hale) and a tiny variation in animations (that would be reused later anyway) that would've made this scene (imo) SO much better...

Giving up? No, Shepard takes control of them. Thats quite a difference, the only one where Shepard submits to the catalyst's logic is Synthesis.

I'm sad that I can't change my "tali zora thing" in the bottom of my posts.. I can't figure it out!! :S Anyways! Since Lair Of The Shadow Broker came out Liare has allways been my girl... Allso in the first. I like Ash but Liara IS and will allways be Number 1!!

Please help me put in a Liara Banner somebody!!!

PS: Doing some Liara fan art myself theese days. My scanner has trouble working though! :-S

It's supposed to be the "beat the player over the head, last-chance to back out of the romance" moment.  Which is fine, I get that, but given that we've already reaffirmed the romance once before (twice if we include LotSB) simply approaching the same lines of dialogue with the default being "in" instead of "out" would have made things much better and still given the player the option to back out should they be so callous so choose.

Synthesis is absolutely giving up. Control... control isn't really giving up, at least not as much as Synthesis. I think Control is bound to end badly however. It's too much power for one person, just as Shepard says to the Illusive Man. If Synthesis is giving up, I would say Control is betrayal.

Go to "Profile" --> "Forum Settings" --> now you should see a "Signature"- window, just delete the current banner and paste the new one. After that you should be good to go. Might take some time before your updated signature shows on the forum. Hope this helps!

Though I don't like being called a friend again, I do like where it leads, where Shepard says "I am serious. Whatever happens... I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

You can head cannon that any way you want. A long relationship. Marriage. Whatever you want. Either way, it's commitment.

Yerp.

After all, you pretty much have had some way of romancing her throughout all 3 games.

Me 1 - Normal Way

Me 2 - LoTSB

ME 3 - Normal Way

I am smelling a pattern with Liara here..... maybe a DLC or something for another romance option since she pretty much was the only squadmate to be given an expanded story. Dont get me wrong, LoTSB was epic, even if you didnt romance her, just wished it was vanilla instead of expansion

The synthesis ending is also a big defeat, indeed. But just the whole theme of control... I can't take it. Shepard... drops the gun. That's a direct symbol of giving up. Then he/she looks at the device in fear... and then forces him/herself to touch it. And it hurts. Shepard then sees that there's no turning back at this point... and proceeds to dismember into indoctrination sludge.
Shepard takes control of the enemy, but he/she doesn't do what he/she came for, which was to DESTROY them. And think about it: if it was possible to take control over the Reapers, the Catalyst would have. But he didn't, and this you can prove. Because all Reapers are self-aware and self intelligent. If they were controlled by the Catalyst they wouldn't have separate minds, but they do. In a sence, according to the Catalyst's logic, the Reapers must one day rebel against the Catalyst (created VS creator). So, actual control over the Reapers is doubtful, and that ending is a direct violation of the Mass Effect universe.

About the ending, I don't know. It hit me way harder than anything in my recent memory. I have no energy to go for another playtrough because of it or to talk about it. I refer to the ending as just one, because in my eyes there is only one and that is: "everything is screwed". Everyone knows it's full of crap and the DLC will just expand the crap. There is no fix and there will never be a fix.

Expect the worst, hope for the best.

Can we not discuss the endings? They are ALL awful and a defeat and totally out of character for Shepard. Everything DoF is saying about Control is true but they are ALL losses like that

It was mind melding, it was sharing her very essence, her being, everything she was with Shepard. And connecting with him, as well, so they basically become "as one" for a brief period.

It's very powerful and emotional, I think. Very moving.

I'm excited. I only hope my ending isn't ruined because of the outcry. But from the sounds of it, they're fixing the things I think need fixing. Like War Assets being showed off, plotholes filled, and epilogues added.

Almost any scene was beautiful and touching, but I'd have to go with her final romance scene in ME 3, before the attack on the Cerberus Headquarters. The scene is very emotional, and that music ... amazing. The thing was, that I already knew all about the endings at that point, I spoiled myself. So I really started crying when that scene played. I just kept thinking: "Yeah, great, they love each other ... and now it's gonna end like this?!)

Oh, but sorry, we didn't want to discuss the endings any more. But it's nevertheless a great scene! Also in terms of ... certain other aspects the other ME 3 romance scenes didn't have.

It's hard to pick a favorite scene. None Liara wise, it's the scene where Shepard leaves Earth in the intro. At least in ME3.

Liara wise, I'd say either post third Nightmare scene, or Goodbye scene.
