Personally mine was the goodbye scene in london so much emotion .....

You just read my mind.....

But I was a bit.. confused on what she showed him.

Was it just what mind melding looks like?

Or what?

Once I understand it, I will love it more than I already do.

Everytime i think about the goodbye scene i get depressed because of the endings, I choose the destroy  mainly because it was the only option that i was most likely going to survive and go back with liara(shows what i knew)
I hope the incoming DLC will give us something good

Either Shepard's speech in London or The End Run in ME2.

It is hard to chose, but I think the ME3 romance scene and post-nightmare scenes were likely the best, followed by the gift.

cant really pick a favorite. Probably shortly after mordin's sacrifice where Shep smiles and walks back to the rover - the music and presentation was just bang on. Or when shep wakes from the nightmare and glances to a serenely sleeping liara and smiles.  The goodbye gift with Liara was all right.  ME3 final romance is pretty damn good.
But then the ending and whole ME3 development conspiracy sort of taints everything I may have found beautiful in this game. Meh. Oh well.

I think my favorite Liara scene is the final romance scene. I'm counting it and the post nightmare scene as the same scene, for all intents and purposes. LotSB was amazing for what it did for Liara and I want to name it, but the thing is LotSB was a bunch of great scenes that added up to improve her character. It wasn't just one amazing scene that stood out, it was just the thing as a whole. And I can't say "all of LotSB" when I compare scenes.

The goodbye scene in London was also really powerful and put me in awe. But I'm naming the final romance scene in ME3 as the best.

Yeah, definitely the ME3 romance scene gets my vote. Not even the sex, but the conversation beforehand. It's as though they went inside my head and plucked out exactly what I had in mind for Alice and Liara post-ME3 and had Ali Hillis give voice to it. It was so great I actually tweeted @masseffect my thanks.

Yeah, they really impressed me with that scene. The sex scene was great, of course, but the romance before that? Really powerful - and it was incredibly natural. The animators did an amazing job there, portraying emotion and just making them seem alive. Just really small, minor things made a difference - the way Liara catches Shep's helmet, toys with it a bit, and then sets it down to sit beside him on the bed, the way she carefully holds his hand, interlocking fingers, and the way they kiss and everything - just man, spot on.

It really stood out to me, because those kinds of motions are the things most videogames trip up on and really bring you out of the moment, because usually they end up with the models doing really mechanical, awkward motions and constant clipping through eachother and it just looks terrible. But it looked really good and clean for Shep/Liara.

They also just displayed a lot of real chemistry, both in that scene and the following sex scene and all, it just had a ton of emotion in it, not just lust or something like that.

And I give them credit because toeing that line is really hard to do, keeping it tasteful and not just making porn or something, so since they were able to succeed, it's really powerful.

It is hard for me to say which Liara scene is the best, on one hand I will say that the ME3 romance scene and her farewell are some of the most moving moments in Mass effect, but on other hand it feels like I am downplaying the value and impact LOTSB had on the Liara/Shepard relationship by not putting it on my list.

I know there were a number of us here who raised hell about all the clipping issues in LotSB, particularly with FemShep.  From a mechanical standpoint, to actually see fingers interlocking, lips pressing together, it was just incredible!

EDIT with my laptop: The romance scene when Liara takes Shep's hand, so beautiful, sweet, and just listening to Liara's voice when she says "It would be easy for a single ship to get lost out there... peace and happiness" I find peace in those words.
When I see Liara coming to to the bed, I say it out loud "Is she a goddess?". And then they kiss the 3rd time in that scene, wow that's animation is awesome.
The gift scene is beautiful too.
"Those little blue children will be disappoint I didn't have a speech" "We will make up a good story for them" :crying: It kills my heart everytime.
And the paragon interupt kiss in LotSB is super emotion, awesome, wonderful too.

Final romance scene by far. Although ever since the ending I've been unable to watch it without going into a state of depression every time Liara says 'someplace very far away.'

I'm gonna be really specific and say the line "the little blue children will be disappointed I didn't have a speech." The way it's delivered... it's absolutely crushing...

With all of the foreshadowing, even without knowing the end I knew shepard wasn't going to make it. Liara knows. Shepard knows. But there they are, trying to put a smile on for their last moments together as they dance around this knowledge that he's not coming back.

It summed up all of the moments they will never get to have together.

Same here. The goodbye scene was amazing. Soul crushing, but amazing nonetheless. When Liara said her final "I love you" to Shepard, I seriously choked up. It was so final, so sad, there's no doubt in my mind that she was convinced they were both about to die.

thanks for the bump Akernis,  you can find mine and Marshals in our sigs and Tyrannic did a nice series post ME3 although its a bit on the dark side (link)

You think my old fanfic is dark?  I thought it was quite positive when writing it. Also, realized I haven't read anything TheMarshal has written. Will do so when I get the time. Which one should I prioritize reading?

sorry i meant to say that it was darker than the fluff that me and Marshal have writtnen, especially with how you detail Sheps PTSD.   i didn't mean any offense, although i should probably pay more attention when i'm writing on here instead of watching Star Wars while i read.

Yea I'm gonna have to 4th this sentiment. And I really love the Cerberus base scene that the picture is refering to, it is very powerful. Makes me almost want to finish the game that I have sitting right before heading to the cerberus base..... Almost.Image IPB

Yeah, you pretty much summed the situation up nicely. I just wanted my Shep to be happy, and Liara was it. I'll admit it, from an impartial viewpoint, I probably went with Liara due to lack of choice/options. However, even if they spacemagically introduced dozens of new LIs for her overnight, I can't picture my Shepard with anyone else.

My brother (also a ME fan) was confused with my choice (I was an outspoken Kaidan fangirl) but I just had to show him one random scene with FemShep and Liara (it wasn't even a romantic specific scene - it was the time capsule) and he said something like "wow, yeah, they really go well together."

So a pairing that may be seen as forced, encouraged or just a last-ditch option due to writer oversight has turned into one of my favorite fiction couples. Blue witchcraft, I tell you.

I'm glad it  made sense (honestly I got a headache after writing it.)

Hey guys

I'm going to to ask; if you think it would be a good idea to put what I wrote into a blog format. Then whenever someone ask's we could link it?

I'm going to  have to agree with pacer on this. That was an absolutly crushing line (and it must've been new because it wasn't in the leaked romance dialouge.) that was easily the best acting of Allis right there. Hales sort of hurried and desperate tone when she says 'show me.' is well done too. I did find the delivery of "what kind of giftt' a tad childish sounding.

My problem with that scene is shepards expression after the gift..

@trekker
Great Vid! And I like those caps!

All of this depressing **** is just making me hope more than ever that the Ending DLC gives Shep a way to reunite with Liara.

This way I don't get so crushed when I replay and hear Liara say things like "what if these are our last days, and we're spending them scurrying around trying to fix a problem that can't be fixed" and "it would be so easy for a ship to just get lost out there, together"...**** it all.

LotSB was really great for getting to reunite with Liara like that. LotSB itself, as a whole, is the single best bit of content in the entire trilogy. Liara and Shep just go together so well there, and show off so much chemistry. That really propelled Liara/Shep to easily the best videogame romance I've ever seen.
