 I wanted to share the little flashback intro to the chapter after the one I'm currently working on.  I'm not quite sure everybody's coming across as I'd intended.  Comments and critiques are welcome!

(In case it's not obvious, it takes place shortly after ME1.  And if it's not obvious, please let me know.)

It's tough to lean against a bar, take a sip from your drink, and make eyes at your girl from across the room with your arm in a sling, but I'm doing my best. Liara's looking absolutely ravishing in her gown, and if there weren't a swarm of dignitaries and military-types all around, I'd have gone over there and ravished her already.

“I suppose I have you to thank for saving my ship, Commander.” A poised asari in a crisp military uniform seems to have appeared next to me. Her voice is deep and measured. She walks with the comfortable air of authority so palpable I feel like I need to stand a little straighter in her presence. “And the Council, of course.”

Ah, the Destiny Ascension. So that would mean... “All in a day's work, Captain Lidanya,” I offer up a salute with my glass.

“Just matriarch, please,” she corrects me.

I'm a little stumped. “Isn't... matriarch the more formal title?”

“Yes, but when you get to my age you take whatever recognition you can get, wherever you can get it, Commander.”

I can't help but grin. I never knew the asari to be so dry in their humor. Of course, I only know the one asari. I meet Liara's eyes from across the room and **** my eyebrow suggestively.

“I noticed you seem to have taken a particular interest in a certain matriarch's daughter,” Lidanya mentions, looking out across the ballroom in no obvious direction.

My broken shoulder begins to throb. “You have a problem with Liara?”

“Please... Matriarch Benezia was far more than the last thirty years of her life would leave some to believe, and if I had any problem with purebloods, I would first have to stop being one myself.”

I relax a little bit, but I still sense a 'but' coming...

“I was just curious what she is to you, Commander? A dalliance? A companion? Something more?”

Alright, lady, now you're pushing my buttons. “Might I ask what business it is of yours what she is to me?”

“It's none, of course,” she nods slightly. “Were she a dalliance, I would bid you both enjoy your time together. Certainly you've earned some semblance of comfort, wherever you may find it. Were she a companion, in my estimation
you'd have found a loyal friend. She'd have learned that much from Benezia, at least.” She takes a long draft from the crystal blue liqueur swirling around in her glass. She still hasn't looked directly at me the entire time she's been over here. It's a little unnerving. “However, if she were to mean more to you than that. If you have, in fact, found someone dear to you, I would caution you to make sure that she knows it.”

A little chill runs down my spine. There's a subtle change in her voice as it drops a full octave.

“Keep her close to you. Hold her tight. To hell with everything else. And don't. Ever. Let her go.”

I can only stand there in stunned silence. The intensity in her lavender eyes isn't diminished by the fact that she's still not looking at me. I want to ask. I have to ask. This is more than just general advice...

“This has been a pleasure, Commander, but I believe Tevos wishes to introduce me to someone whom I have no interest in meeting. Excuse me.” She gives a slight bow and then moves to leave.

I lean against the bar once more, for actual support this time. I can hear my heart pounding in my ears. I take a drink and turn back to where Liara is standing. My heart pounds more. I set my drink down, and possessed by something I can't explain, I make my move.

I liked it. Also think it is fairly obvious when it is supposed to take place. Haven't actually read any of your fanfics however - would be interested in doing that. Don't suppose you could offer just a sentance about what each one is about so that I know what to prioritize?

asdagddaffda cliffhanger! It was so good that this is torture as I need to have the rest.
Haha, will wait, looks lovely and realistic. The matriarchs advice was quite deep, I hope Shepard got the message.
I wouldn't have known right away that it was right after ME1, but that is just my crappy memory to blame for.

Well, planning to play ME1 again next week to refresh memories.
Just spent quite a long time staring at the main menu character slideshow, while listening to Vigil.
Oh god how I love that song. Why couldn't they make it longer...

heh Well that's actually just the flashback at the beginning of the chapter, so that's all there is to that little tidbit. It will, however, be pertinent to the rest of the chapter. But that's still probably a week and a half out. Nothing I can show for this chapter just yet.

Actual new conversations? Thats great, makes the chances that the CE won't totally suck slightly higher.

I liked the sneak peak. I found it clear that it took place slightly after the battle of the Citadel. So no complaints from me.

Didn't take the time yet to read your fanfic other than "Worlds Apart" (which I loved), but I really have to change that soon.

I think it was Karpyshyn in ME1, Walters for vanilla ME2, Weekes for LotSB, and I'm not sure for ME3.

LOTSB and ME3 were both done by Sylvia (Weekes may have done LOTSB i'm not sure) and Drew created/wrote the character for 1, I'm not sure about vanilla2 

edit:  so i got ninja'ed by everyone:bandit:  just shows what i get for going to school and therapy for a few hours, and i got a top for quoting a top goddess i don't have any new pics to put up either..... *rummages through bin*....  here got one
