Well, if you look at human skin up close, it's actually segmented in a similar way to asari skin, just much more finely (as in, the segments on human skin are smaller, so it looks smoother from a distance).
Doesn't mean asari skin is actually similar to ours, but it could be, even given it's in-game texture (as it could also be similar to reptilian skin, or something in between). I don't really care anyway.

Yeah, this is what I'm starting to learn towards now. It's scales, but it's not quite the same as scaled creatures we have on Earth. It's like a mixture between human skin and snake scales. (Not just reptilian because not all reptiles scales are the same. Iguanas, for example, have noticeably rougher and less smooth skin than snakes)

This also serves the purpose of making them even more alien in design than if it was just pure snake-scales or human flesh.

I agree.

I've always seen Liara's (and other Asari's) skin having the same feeling as the underbelly of a snake but without having individual 'scales' (this is where it differs from a snake). On a snake you can feel the individual scales when you stroke it against the direction of overlapping. This would not be the case with Asari as they don't posses individual scales, but just an interesting texture to their skin.
So it would be the same as human skin in regards to how it covers the body so to speak (no individual segments or anything like that. Just one coherent 'skin'). The feel to it would though be as the underbelly of a snake: soft, semi-slipery but without the difference in feel dependant on the direction you stroke the skin.

I hope it made sence.

Also, on another note: I remember someone talking (a few pages back) about Liara not having black eyes a lot in ME3. I just played the battle for Earth again. When you receive the gift from Liara, her eyes turn to the black state, just as the screen flickers (very similar to the romance scene).

Check out the bar that was in my hotel! I had hoped to use the picture that I took on my phone but it seems I deleted it... or was a few beers too deep to take it properly :P

So here's the generic stock photo of the bar that had me in stitches when I saw it. (I stopped laughing when I saw that it had $11 beers)

lets see here... new fan fics and vids, new pics, some blue baby talk, some serious talk about scales, the merits of Liara Jones archeologist extrordinare vs.  Liara the shy scientist,  some funny pics, a little bit of fem/m shep flaming, and other general silliness and hijinks that goes on in this thread.  oh and another one is what color Liara blushes although that wasn't a big issue but just something someone brought up:D

From how long back?

Edit: ninja'ed

About the asari skin. I looked at several reference picks and Liara's skin looks very similar, if a bit more fine than, the skin of serpents.
while I do not own a snake I have touched several; their skin is really pleasent to touch, not slimey or clammy like many believes nor is it particularly rough, simply more, yeah well, textured than smooth human skin. I can easily believe the asari having a similar feel to their skin, it would obviously be warmer since they are mammals.

Obviously there are many kinds of scales and what the asari has is not armoured scales like that of crocodiles or many monitor lizards, nor is it fish scales, but fine near-smooth slightly textured skin similar to that of serpents.

Exactly. Snakes have a bad reputation, but you feel me. People just don't seem to know what I mean when I say it seems that Asari have skin like a snakes scales. That's actually still a really smooth, sleek type of skin to touch.

I think people just have a negative kneejerk reaction when I compare Asari to snakes. A breath of fresh air to see you know what I mean.

Well if memory serves, in addition to what Moreeman mentioned we had another depressive talk about the endings (or lack thereof), a rather unpleasent talk about asari maiden fertility, our general dissatisfaction of Shepard's behaviour when "comforting" Liara after Thessia. We also talked about how the Thessia mission seemed devoid of the depth and quality of Tuchanka story arc and needed more smaller missions and getting to know Thessia as a world and we talked about the absurdity of the Beacon's implications and consequences with opinions ranging from the asari already knowing about the reapers and could completly understand the beacon to other believing that the asari berely got anything of real value out of it, I being in the later group.

Then we had a couple of splendous pictures, I can't remember how long ago so you might have seen some or all of them, my favourites of those I remember were these (yes I am shamelessly using this oppotunity to post them again Image IPB:

I haven't been around a snake in many years, but if memory serves, their scales - while incredibly smooth - are still somewhat raised.  They're more interlocking and not overlapping, like the scales of some fish, which I think improves the texture.  But I still liken the texture of Liara's skin to well-tooled leather rather than scales.

edit - Man, I am on a roll for cruddy TotP's...
