No. I thought I was judging the Protheans as a whole and forcing it on Javik. They used violent to rule other races. It's the Prothean Empire. Just imaginate your race being used like animal to experments on. "In our cycle, we used them as weapons. Biological proxies. It was before I was born, but every Prothean had heard the stories. When we knew of them, the rachni spent their lives "singing" thoughts to each other. But our scientists were more interested in their biology. The rachni were well suited to harsh conditions. So we bred them for violence, selecting the most cunning and warlike of the queens. Then we unleashed them upon our enemies. For a while it worked-until they became too cunning and warlike, and turned on us. We put them down before they could develop any futher. We thought they had been exterminated. Yet it seems our experiment evolved into this cycle's memesis."
I remember she was very disappointed when she knew more about the Protheans in her notes.
Another topic: In an union, is physical contacts/sex necessary? Or the Asari just need to say "embrace enternity" and meld with a willing one?

Seems like the Protheans were more like the Empire in Star Wars. I can see some common points these two empires had.

Physical contact is not necessary. The mind meld is just that...a mind meld. I think it's either stated in ME1 or somewhere in the Codex but I can't find a source right now. Sheesh...
Well, then there is the possibility to share memories and information with mind melding...this can be done without physical contact. I would say it would also apply to the mating union. Otherwise I would have a hard time imagining how some asari would mate with some of the races out there

And yeah, what they did with the rachni was quite horrible.

Why would physical contact be necessary? You mean like putting a hand on the others head or something along these lines?

I think this is the first confirmation that the VAs who said they are doing ME3 recording are actually recording specifically for Extended Cut.

Been trying to find the info but who else besides TH has been called in to do more lines?

P.S. I think Liara mentioned that physical contact may or may not be needed in ME 1 when Shep asked about the Asari.

P.S. II Nvm, I found it, the thread just jumped to the top.

That is true, odd. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but hasn't all melds seen in the games included physical contact? I assumed it was necessary for the nervous systems to connect.

Lots of closure with lots of voice acting
[For those that haven't played the game, each slide is narrated by the character's voice actor, or the voice actor of a character associated with the faction.]

Thus, because of GIGO, the extended cut will suck.

I would like the extended cut to atleast have a funeral service for Shepard ala Dragon age had if Shepard dies in the end.

That funeral scene with a romanced Alistair was goddamn heartbreaking. So I can imagine how I will feel if I saw something like it with Liara.

A funeral scene would be great (assuming there is also something else for the Shepard lives ending)

Well, no. When Shiala mind melded with Shep on Feros to give her the cipher, she asked that Shep relaxed, to 'open' her mind and did not touch her at all.

But I'm thinking that touching might possibly encourage a Asari to fully "absorb" the traits of the 'father'. *shrug*

Of course. No reason why there should not be anything for a Shepard that survives.

Oh, my mistake then, I thought Shiala did touch Shepard.

That's a mind melding not a union, IMO a union is diffirent from mind melding. It includes mind melding and more. According to the codex, it require receiving electrical impulses directly throught the skin. So.... the gift scene could be something :-S

Image IPB  One of my fenSheps is just friends with Liara, so that gift she received is just that : memories. I say this because they're both in armor.

Yeah, I don't want it to be something else too (or the haters are gonna scream). She wears armor when she touches Shepard. :-"
But the sex scene is perfect for that purpose >:) Little blue children <3

So I feel the need to slightly derail the thread with 2 questions, but I promise I will post something at the end that will get it back on topic.

Question #1: What class should I play for my next run through ME1 Adept or Vanguard? This class will prolly be my Insanity ME2 playthrough and my Insanity ME3 playthrough. I'm having trouble deciding which would be easier in ME2 & 3 for insanity. I haven't really played either very much so any input would help immensly.

Question #2: Did anyone else do the Renegade dialog and the Renegade interrupt after Priorty: Geth Dreadnought? I did the paragon option the first time through the game and I wasn't really happy with it, not that my Shep is a renegade but she was not happy in the NG+ when Gerrel decided to destroy the ship with her and the team still on there.

And since I promised to get it back on track have a fanfic I found earlier today that just melted my heart.  The Importance of Words by 100littlewhitelies.

Edit: Fixed the incorrect admiral name, not like you can tell their faces apart anyway.

1. I say adept, mostly because I usually end up dying... well, all the time, when trying to play vanguard on insanity.

2. I did the renegade interrupt and dialogue after the Geth Dreadnaught, yeah. (And my Shepard is mostly paragon, I base all response for my main Shepard on what I think personally is the most suitable option.) I think you are confusing Admiral Koris and Admiral Gerrel however. Gerrel is the geth-hater that almost killed Shepard.

Edit: Ah, good, you fixed the name.

Edit 2: Read the fanfic now. Touching. :crying:

I can't find the conversation but I am reasonably certain it goes like this

Liara: "physical contact my or may not be involved, but it is not an essential part of the union, the true connection is mental..."

And Neeh has been productive again, Shepard is very happy to see Liara Image IPB

@Darkcloudd

I recommend going to the ME1&2 builds forum and look at the sticky there. It's a great sticky. Has all sorts of advice, builds and videos for all the classes. I'd give you the link, but I'm on my phone and it's hard enough to just post.... Anyway, that sticky is how I decided between Vanguard and Adept for my canon Shep.

Also, Akernis got it in one. I believe in verbatim as well. I've gone through about four runs and manced Liara. Just about got her dialogue memorized lol.?

I honestly like the background touches Neeh puts into his work - the scenery and all. Like, look at that - it's not just Shepard's cabin or Liara's office, it appears to be an apartment on the Citadel - entirely new, and it's an interesting look into a more casual scene for Shep/Liara, instead of always being on the Normandy, y'know.

Personally I'd say they should have a place on Thessia instead but that's just me. Image IPB

I think I asked the wrong question. What I want to ask is when they want to have children do they need physical contact, because the codex says ... "receive electronical impulses directly through the skin". I'm having an argument with someone on fanfic.net so I want to make sure about this.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure when they actually want to conceive and have a complete Joining, they will have physical contact, and usually sexual, too.

If a Union is the same as a Joining than according to Liara it is not necessary, though I imagine it would make it easier (and more pleasurable).

Unless of course you want to interpret what she says as simply meanig that a union is not about the physical contact as it would be amongst humans.

It seems that near everything we know about the asari is contradicted by other sources in the game.

Edit: Okay seriously, from now on I am putting a picture in every post since I apparently end up with the top anyway.

Well... I think we can establish that they are... blue?

Seriously though, I don't think it's that bad with the contradictions.
