I just finished reading those, and...wow. You weren't really kidding, those are very powerful pieces, very explicit, yet most impressive is how spot on personality wise they are. They are as much about any sexual acts, as they are exploring a more intimate part of Liara and Shep's characters and relationship. The in depth look at what mind melding is like is very interesting, too. The entire thing is very tasteful, too. It doesn't feel like it was written just to be a porn fic, basically. But rather to take a deeper look at a side of the characters the games only hint at.

My one complaint about those is I'm not too big of a fan of how Shepard seems to always be the one...dominating Liara. That's a stronger term than I mean, but it's slightly more uneven than I'd say it should be - all this about Liara being "hers" and all that, and a bit less reciprocation. I don't mean this as harsh as it sounds because for the most part, the relationship portrayed is equal, it's just a slight lean.

Well...there are other fics out there that take care of the issue

I havn't read those fics so I don't know how or to what degree it is described, but isn't that natural?
I mean while I am fully with you that it is optimal for both partners to be equal isn't hard to find a relationship where both are truly equal, wouldn't there always, or at least usually, be one who were slightly more dominant than the other?.

Okay, that particular choice of words does seem to be a bit more than a slight lean.
Though I can't judge it more deeply without having read it more fully.

When I read it it those lines they feel passionate rather than dominating. It's not something they say, it's thoughts or rather emotions that they share during the meld.

You really should read them, they descipt the characters accurately and are very emotional and passionate.

'Mine,' was Shepard's only thought, the only word she could conjure amidst the sea of emotions.

'Yours,' the part of Liara that was still cognizant of herself agreed. She could hardly tell the difference between them anymore. Everything was getting fuzzy, and she experienced the physical realm only in flashes.

In the end Liara says:

"You are all mine for the remainder of the night... and for a lot longer after that."

They both "belong" to eachother.

I do want to say, again, that it is over all a lot more equal than I have portrayed it as. It is just a very small, specific set of examples that I am thinking of when I criticize it for that, just a slight tone overall.

Even then, with Shepard being mostly the one in control, it does do a good job of being equal, because Shepard is not like...abusing or exploiting Liara for her own passions. While she might be the one in control, she's simply doing it to better pleasure Liara.

So please don't get a more negative view of the stories than I intend - they are astounding and you really should read them.

Edit - I mean, I still do take issue with the strong use of the "Mine/Yours" thing, and how Shepard seems to always be in control, just...

Cool. Let us know what you think. I agree with you too, I'm hardly one to read sex stories because they are usually not tasteful and they are usually out of character, and all about the pure sex. This really is different.

Rae does what I try to do and use sexually-charged and romantic writing in order to further her characters. Albeit she is a far better writer than I am. And is more comfortable with being more explicit than I am right now.

Wouldn't recommend them (or even read them) if they weren't. Seems rare to find fanfics that go into sexual territory while still being well done and tasteful, but these really are in character and both emotional and passionate. They do a great job with describing the melding as well and actually help add depth to the relationship.

I've been playing through ME2 and writing drafts for how I'm going to approach this (it's pretty complicated) but now I think I'm ready to finally unveil the first chapter of the ME2 part of my romance additions fanfic work. Fair warning: this one is a little sad. I'll cut the authors notes this time. I've said all I want to in the preamble.

There are a couple ways to do it, actually. The easiest is to just find a mod that retextures the bra and panty "outfit" to be nude. This tends to look kind of odd though because she's still pushed together like she has a bra on, not to mention that Shepards ME3 body has some very strange proportions.

Luckily, Shepards ME1 body is still in the game. You will have to combine a coalesced.bin mod with a texmod to get this working. First, tweak the coalesced.bin file. Go to:

biogame.ini>sfxgame>sfxplayercustomization>casualappearances

Go down to the eighth line (Id=7) and find the female part of the line which will look like this:
Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_NKD_R.NKDc.HMF_ARM_NKDc_MDL"
Change it to:
Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_NKD_R.NKDa.HMF_ARM_NKDa_MDL"
And save the file.

This will give you a nude body, but with no... parts. Next, use a texmod to give it some parts. There are several out there if you look around. I'll plug a project from this forum even though it's not the one I use:

The scene is still pretty tasteful with the mod with only a few split seconds of NSFW imagery (mostly when she wakes from the dream afterwards).

I like the start, good pace. I’ll try add a proper review of FFN later.

One meta-note, though, is that I don’t think LotSB was intended to be played after the SM!

I’m sure you’ve planned it out carefully and it definitely can work perfectly well that way, too, because you can add all kinds of things and expand the story, but in the game I found it to be best when played as soon as it becomes available.

Even though the interaction with Liara after the ‘tour’ is sadly nonexistent and you just have to imagine it, I found myself essentially using Haglaz as my home base and hopping there between missions. (If it’s not obvious, I’m One of Those Players who will change their outfit when hanging out in the captain’s cabin and so on…)

Neither was Garrus. But since he worked on the Citadel it was possible he heard the news from the survivors themselves.

The best way to play  LotSB is to finish the mission before the Suicide Mission and talk to Liara after you finish it its better this way
