I'm disappointed I can't get her red hair for my custom Shep. She had red hair in ME2 but, imported, she has blonde now. And the only alternatives are the bright 'fake' reds. Yet, there is a natural red on the custom Shep. WTF?!

I'll always lean towards femshep/Liara. They just feel right and it's hard for me to see her with a male Shepard.
I could start to list some random reasons but there's too much potential for Fshep vs Mshep war.

My other argument was that if you make Liara as all-knowing as people demand, she'd diminish Traynor into nothingness and negate the threat of Udina, Cerberus and the Reapers. If she's constantly warning you about everything, deflating every threat, she starts to diminish Shepard as the hero too. You have to find a balance. I think BW did.

I think what I want is Bioware showing us her contribution to the war rather than just read 2 emails about them. They could still keep Traynor around and let her find the things she already does. But how about having a side mission that starts because Liara spotted something unusual in her network? How about a mission where we help defend a SB base (the one she visits in Redemption perhaps?) from Cerberus, because it contains intel crucial to the war effort in that theater of war?

I mean, I'd love Liara to be more omniscient but I
understand why she's not. I think they made a good balance between
keeping Shepard the hero, making Liara seem like the SB and having
Traynor seem relevent and contributing.

Really? I think Bioware completely botched it and screwed up. Bioware made Shepard the hero, Traynor the SB and Liara the fool.

I like Liara but damn Bioware did her look bad next to Traynor.

If people in that thread had Liara how they wanted, they'd complain Liara is how they wanted. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

Indeed.
If Liara was always the one who provided us intel and briefed us on
side missions people would complain that she was given too much
attention.

Not trying to start a war. Not looking to establish a 'correct' combination. Just relaying some observations on myself I was finding it hard to explain away and wondering if others shared it. Not passing judgement. :innocent:

Meant that if I would start to list something, might come out sounding offensive even when I don't mean it.

They already do that so it wouldn't matter! :D

Had an idea for some Liara artwork and I've been practicing digital painting for a month now and still nothing.
Then there's people who wave their hands and voilà, Liara masterpiece art. They must be natural biotics.

So for those who don't know, which probably most of you, I've taken to doing a rewrite of the ending.
I've got three chapters so far.

Chapter 1: Shepard's Awakening

Chapter 2: The Fight to the Beam

Chapter 3: The Battles Above and on Earth

I'm currently working on Chapter 4, but its a slow process...

I've also got a poll going for which Councilor's should be alive in the fic.

Anyways, thanks for taking your time to read them, please comment, and what not, oh and I romanced Liara, which is evident in the first Chapter.

It's maddening because the whole system is different. Not only are all the hairstyles and especially their colours altered, the facial structure of each of my imported Shepards does not resemble anything close to the one in ME1 and ME2.  I'll go as far as say that the eyes also look different. It's like they're always unfocused. Why couldn't they keep the system they had in ME2 and just add to it?

kyg_20X6 wrote...

That wasn't my impression, but that's cool. {smilie}

But I'm almost certain Shepard's reaction is Shiala's, repurposed from Feros. I'm usually very quick to spot when BW repurposes something like this (much to the annoyance of my friends, if I'm watching them play, lol).

By the way, I looked at a video on YouTube for Liara's gift with a  FemShep and I have to say that you're actually right. For some reason, though, MaleShep's reaction seems different than the one on Feros. While FemShep looks confused, MaleShep seems concerned.

On the topic of the new default FemShep, I wanted to ask whether anyone was disappointed they couldn't exactly recreate the FemShep on the Mass Effect 3 cover as well as they should have. She just looks... weird. This is how she looks:

And this is how I thought she would look like:

The difference is not big, but I think that the 'fixed' version looks a lot more real.

To be honest I can't notice any difference. Then again I don't play default so I guess I don't really care that much.

You've got to remember, BW have to balance things between characters. Liara wasn't meant to be special. Through a series of decisions they made, she just happens to be the one character that survives the series. Which gives them extra flexibility with her. But I don't think they ever intended her to be bigger than the other squadmates. Becoming SB gave her a more important position in the ME-verse, and her survivability allowed her to be more integrated into the ME3 storyline. But that's already pissing a lot of people off, who (unreasonably, since they can die) want equal treatment for their characters. I too would have liked to see more from Liara as SB but it would be unfair for me to demand that if it'd mean less for other people's favourites or new characters. I'm content with my lot. ^_^ (Well, not counting the endings!)

If anything, I wish Liara was a little less 'business' in ME3. I rekindled our romance and was disappointed by that first conversation on the Citadel where she just tells me to talk to Barla Von. Or post-Thessia when I can't comfort & hug her and only get her back to work. Or when I take her on the final mission and all she says is, 'I'm honored to be a part of your team'. Or how every time I come down to fool around she's busy at her terminal! :P

Is FreckleShep the new default FemShep?

She is the default Femshep in ME3, blame Neehs for making Freckleshep so dam perfect with Liara thanks to those wonderfully, beautifully, sexy gifs she has made.

Yes and the new default has almost  the exact same freckle placement as Liara. The term Femshep can refer to any female shepard.

Default Mshep has Sheploo, so Default ME3 fshep now has freckleshep.

At least that's how I think of it. I like the design a whole lot,  and it works very well in contrast to the more paragon looking Sheploo.Actually, I could almost ship Freckleshep/Sheploo...*cough*

The second revised one looks a lot more like the FemShep on the cover, and, personally, looks a lot better overall.

Does look different, although that could just be because it's not blurry. Still, wish I could get these custom looks on my 360. <_<

It WOULD go with that certain blue. Just it wouldn't have to be tied to that default femshep face.

The fixed version looks actually a lot better, but I still have to finish my latest mShep playthrough and got cought up with Dragon Age.

And because all of this has nothing to do with Liara. I wish I could import Liara into DA:O. She would be an apostate, getting lost in the woods. My Warden could pick her up and help her plot a revenge against a super secret organisation, to rescue her friend.

Yes, even in Dragon Age, Liara would be the best character ever.

I can actually see her being the best character if not in all, then in most of the RPGs I've played.

Agreed, while I would certainly like to see how her work as the Shadow Broker helps I think that if anything I would as much like to have back as simply being present rather than constantly having to work.

p.s. what is wrong with the "I am honoured to be part of your team" line? Image IPB I liked it.

Yeah but
that red being exclusive to default fshep, plus Liaras certain blue, plus colour theory=  Jane/Liara is astheticly cannon, or in other words:

Go Team Freckle! :wizard:

(But even freckle cant make me endure 3+hours of french fshep.)

@akernis About the 'honored' line, I just thought she'd say something more personal if you were her love. Nothing inherently bad about it, I liked it too. Just would have liked something more personal, you know?

Hair color? Yay for gibbed! Hair style should be easily changed too.

Too bad default shep doesn't have anything listed in texture maps, could put freckles on any custom shep with them.

I didn't use the default shep because somehow I didn't like the facial features. Tho my custom shep is even worse, but atleast she doesn't look so young.

Do texture maps and what not work for 360 saves in Gibbed? I've seen some good faces on the MEfacesdatabase site but skipped over them because of mods and whatnot. Assumed I couldn't do it for 360.

But if I can get that red hair, I'll marry you! (whether you like it or not!) :P

Also, I agree with what someone said earlier. The recent spate of fan art & gifs with freckleshep with Liara has her growing on me.

It would just feel wrong to switch appearance when going to ME3, at least for me. I want my Shepards to look the same throughout the trilogy. I'm also quite happy with my main custom shep.

Edit: I like the ME3 default female Shepard though, but I guess I'll never use that appearance since I just don't see myself changing the appearance of a Shepard.

Edit 2: Oh, top, and it isn't even Liara related...

Exactly, she didn't even go through Lazarus project this time to explain a sudden change. :P

Yeah, just get the save files to your PC on a memory stick or something, edit them and then plug them back to your xbox.
I don't have an xbox and have no idea how to exactly do it, but there's guides. =]

EDIT:
ME2 guide, I guess it's the same principle.
