About the new ME3 Liara romance (I haven't actually tried it, just watched a few scenes on youtube), does the new version of the romance include the scene where Shepard sits in the chair in her office and they flirt?

No, that happens prior to the Citadel date scene.

Alright. So the scenes the new romance does get is the pre-Cronos station one+London goodbye then? Oh, and talking with Javik.

Yes, quite possibly the talk on Cronos Station itself while looking at the archived videos, as well.

Liara has been in love with Shepard for 3 years. Shepard confessed her/his feeling for Liara. She was taken aback but she was very happy that finally her love had been returned and she accepted it. The scene for new romance is adorable IMO. It is the same with every new romance in ME3. I tried to start a new romance with Kaidan in ME3 and my Shepard said "we need to get back to the ship now" in the date scene - my reaction was "WTH - That was quick!"

First post on this forum, better whack in a pic just for
good measure lol

Having to wait that standard 24 hours before you can
post, I’ve had time to look over a good chunk of this thread and thought about
a few things discussed so far.

First off, although I’m preaching to the converted, I
think Liara is by far the best character in the whole series, even better then
Shepard, and I knew from the moment I saw her and found out you could romance
characters that she would be my love interest. Maybe its because she is Asari,
but she is so much more spiritual and deep then the other characters, not that
others aren’t, but Liara is just amazing in that way. In a way I think she is
the best thing for Shepard, she allows him (yes I’m a maleshep fan, lol might
cause some friction on here, more on that later) to open out and catharsis some
of that pain that he holds, and I think he allows the same for her. They are
both somewhat damaged people and they need each other.

Secondly, I absolutely hated the fact that in ME2 Liara
was barely in it, I was glad for lotSB DLC because it gave the amazing scene
when she breaks down after the two years being over, seeing him, and going back
to his ship. Damn it Shep should have brought her with him, although I think if
she had died in the suicide mission I would have cried.

Have to say I’m slightly surprised that there are so many
femShep players, just assumed most did the maleShep one, might have to give the
femShep one a go, see what all the hoo ha is about.

Oh and Liara is paragon, she is complex sure and has
moments of renegade but deep down she is a great person with high moral
integrity, she help keep Shep on the straight and narrow, don’t think she would
love you if you chose all the renegade options.

 :D

Welcome!

I don't see why you playing MShep would cause any friction, wouldn't worry about that. I do think you should give FShep a try though as you say. ^_^

Just copy paste the image, that's what I do. I think there's some kind of restriction on new members though that prevents them from posting images.

I am a MShep too and there are several others as well, don't worry as long you don't go one is better than the other or "demanding more MShep art/fanfic" everything should go smoothily, there is no sigma to either as long as peopel remember that everyone has their own preferences.

Besides we are a friendly and undertsanding lot Image IPB

Agreed, the only thing i liked about the fact that she was not recruitable through the entire secodn game was that it meant they could do more with her in the third, knowing that she would be there no matter what.

That is my view as well, she a good hearted person through and through even if she can and occasioanlly has to do things that she might not personally feel like is right if it means acheiveving what matters most to her.

So I guess I will pose that as the question: If you could rewrite the Cidadel "date" with a Liaramancer that stayed faithful then what would you have seen them do?

Well, ideally, Liara and Shepard wouldn't be standing in one place staring at the Presidium. They've been doing that a lot already. They would walk around the district as they talk, with pauses every now and then for the player to choose an option in the dialogue wheel.

I would keep Liara's talk about her past, her initial fascination with archeology, and her description of her mother. However, afterwards, I would have her ask Shepard some questions instead about his/her childhood, which is where his/her background would come into play and the story Shepard says would be different.

Then they would conclude that it's the future that they'll need to work forward to. I don't like the fact that pretty much every conversation with Liara has something to do with the war, so I would leave that out; I'd rather them discuss their own future, for real this time. Where they would live, the little blue children, and everything you can think of about their plans. And then, of course, it would end with a kiss and an embrace while the camera pans out across the other side of the Presidium, slowly zooming out as it does so. It'd be a much more thorough discussion than the one we have now, and of course there woudln't be any friend-zoning, since Shepard has already 'locked in' the romance during his/her first talk with Liara on the Normandy in ME3.

That would have been fantastic, one thing I really would have loved was if there was an investigate option where you could ask her about specific things about her; get to know more about her childhood, past, etc. Generally getting to know her more Image IPB

Theo, I really like your idea of also having a bit where Shep/Liara discuss their future in terms of how they'd like to live together after the war. Things like where they will live and such like that - and Liara can give her opinion on various places. That's a really neat idea I hadn't considered.

On one hand I would have liked such a scene/dialogue about their future. But on the other hand, it would make dealing with the ending even worse. I mean, as things stand now, even the little dialogue we get about all the blue children (in LotSB and the gift scene) is hard to get through without getting depressed...

Great to have you here, welcome! Lots of new people coming in recently (including me, only been here since the day before).

And don't you worry about the MShep thing! I'm a MaleShep/Liara shipper myself, as are a lot of us here. After all, it's our love for Liara that brings us together here, no?

Akernis wrote...

Yes, indeed! And even more importantly, I believe that Shepard's LIs should ask questions about him/her, so that not only he/she would be able to open up to them more, but us, as players, would also get to know him/her a little better. And that would be a very personalized feature, since we've got three backgrounds and three pieces of pre-service history to choose from way back in the first Mass Effect game.

I've always thought that instead of Shepard always asking the questions, Liara, or any other LI for that matter, should do a little 'Investigate' herself.

Yeah, and even if it doesn't really have an impact on the ending, it would still be able to actually talk to her about it. She would have her own opinion on Shepard's suggestions, and vice versa. This would greatly open up opportunities for different Liaramancers to experience the romance and decide its future in different ways and later maybe even explore on that through fan fiction (though I certainly wouldn't be against ME3 actually showing us what happens to Shepard/Liara after the Reapers have been destroyed).

I don't, I get depressed by the ending itself (in the rare cases I even deign to acknowledge it that is) but never by the happy talks of the future the two of them has, if anything I would have liked several more.

I undertsand why they talk about the war, it is somehwta pressingly on their minds afterall but I too would have liked for them just to talk about each other or similar.
That was one of the things I liked about ME1 that there was oppotunity to simply talk with Liara about the asari in general, she even says asomehting along the lines "Lets not spend every minuttes talking about Saren, it is bad enought that we are chasing him across the galaxy".

I liked the focus on the Reaper War in the dialogue with Liara, it really helps show that the approaching doom is on everyone's mind constantly and they really can't help talking about it.

Theo, I'm really finding myself loving everything you're suggesting in your post. I really like the idea of Liara basically pressing a bunch of "investigate" options herself, on Shepard, for a change. That it's a way to flesh out both of them pretty extensively because there will be questions asked and you can have Shepard give various opinions that Liara would respond to, and then you can ask Liara for her opinion on various things too.

Also I really just want that house on Thessia scenario just like Talimancers want that house on Rannoch. Image IPB

I’m not sure the Citadel is really the place for an in-depth talk, but I agree that it should be included. It’s in fact a suggestion for all characters in my sadly neglected Small LI Improvements thread (link in signature).

Pretty much this for me, happy talks of the future dont get me depressed (hell neither does the "ending" anymore mainly because I ignore it and just start thinking of my head cannon YAY IMAGINATION!). Id love to see more romantic talk of the future :)

I'm glad that you do! I think it wouldn't be that hard to do in-game. Sure, it would take time and effort, but if anybody could do it, it's BioWare, or at least, pre-ME3 pre-EA-indoctrinated pre-artistic-vision BioWare.

And don't get me started on Tali's house on Rannoch! She wasn't even my LI and I was absolutely crushed when I thought that she wouldn't fulfill her dream.

I didn't mean that they should not talk about the war, only that it shouldn't be the only thing they talked about, as far as I can remember there is only one conversation with Liara that is not about the war either directly or indicretly.

I'm not.
My MShep has a huge list of romances I want to play.
My FShep is stuck with Liara for eternity, because there are no options I would like to explore. Well maybe Traynor, but she reminds me of Liara in ME1.
I might do Allers one time, just to see what Liara's reaction is. But that would be very painful, I don't like Allers. >.<
