I don't really have that much of a problem with this part, sure it's a plothole, but as long as they allow for a reunion with the crew and explain the Starchild and the Reapers more, it's acceptable to me.

I'm sure that I'm in the minority here, but I'd take an ending that actually makes sense and is believable to the overall story and theme of the Mass Effect universe over a nonsensical space magic happy ending any day, even if it's a sad conclusion.

Oh, believe me, I want a happy ending for Shepard and his/her crew, along with all the races of the galaxy, but I want it done right. It's what the franchise deserves, in my opinion.

I said I wanted the most important plot thingy fixed: The Catalyst and the Reapers. The smaller inconsistencies I can live with if they explain that better (and add a happy ending.)

Well, yes, obviously a well written happy ending is the ideal solution. It's much better than a space magic happy ending...however I firmly believe that there's no such as a well written forced downer ending, for Mass Effect. And I will gladly take a poorly written happy ending over a poorly written downer ending.

And, considering how low my expectations are, I will be satisfied if they simply allow a possibility for Shepard to live and reunite with Liara and not destroy the galactic community. Even if it's space magic. Ideally they would do more and have it well written...but I'll take what I can get. I wouldn't call it a high quality well written ending if they do space magic happy, but I don't require that to be satisfied.

Yeah, I agree, if the 'space magic' factor is not removed, then I'd much rather have the ending be happy and uplifting than sad and devastating, along with the fact that it doesn't make sense at all, as it does now.

However, if I had to choose from a poorly written cop-out of a happy ending (*cough* Lost *cough*) and an incredible finale to the trilogy that does not go against the theme and setting of Mass Effect and one that involves a great sacrifice of some kind, most likely Shepard's sacrifice, then I'd pick the latter. If the sacrifice and the bitter part of the bittersweet ending is worth it for having the sweet part, which would be Liara getting to live her life, the Reapers are gone, the galaxy is saved, and so forth.

I don't really think we even need to discuss the Shepard lives part, because they said they weren't changing anything already in there, and they already have a Shepard lives ending.

How would your Shepard want to describe Liara for future cycles?

Oh, I've completely blocked out the endings from my mind as they are now. I just refuse to believe they were in the game. I don't consider either one canon, even the Shepard lives ending.

Liara T'Soni was an archaeologist, a scientist and a powerful biotic. Dr. T'Soni was born on Thessia.
She was true and honest, caring and loving. She lost a lot, but never gave up, never left her friends behind.
She was an inspiration for all who were close to her.
And it was a privilege to know her... to love her.

Short and well spoken! I'll just add a vote for this since I don't seem to be very eloquent at the moment.

Well, to start it off, I would say that I hope there won't be any future cycles (of extinction, that is)!

Anyway, for my Shepard, Liara was the one person who kept him going during the dark and troubling times of galaxy-wide war, the one person who was always at his side, not always physically, but always mentally. Obviously, Shepard has enough reason to stop the Reapers once and for all, but Liara provides just that motivation that he needs to always go on forward regardless of any setbacks he might face. In the end, his love for her is his main driving force.

Liara is many things for Shepard, but the one thing I believe that stands out is her pure heart and soul, along with her willingness to make the galaxy a better place at the expense of her own happiness, if need be. A stubborn one, to be sure, but that's a trait that they both share. She's the best friend he could have ever hoped for and his one true love for the rest of his life, however long it may be.

Liara T'Soni a brilliant asari researcher/doctor, born on the world of Thessia.
She was the strongest biotic i have ever seen to come out of Thessia.
She was one of a kind. Smart, kind, resourceful, determined and caring.
Without Liara, I would never been able to have the chance to stop the reapers, she was my rock, in which i found strength to continue forward. The legacy of Shepard is that equal to Liara, taking on the galaxy together. It is an honour and privilege to have worked with her and to be her bondmate. Liara I owe all this to you.<3

Liara T'soni was professionally an archaeologist and a biotic who's talents showed to be more than life saving in the darkest of hours, and was born on Thessia.
She was also smart, open minded, kind, brave and loving. She brought the very reason to fight on wherever she was.
She never gave up on the ones she believed in, and no one ever stopped believing in her.
To have grasped on the beauty she represented, that she was, was reason enough to move galaxies over and over, and beyond. One can't define the very importance she held.
It was more than a privilege to get to know her, and it was beyond the very imagination that I dare to utilize, to be with her, to kiss her, to be able to touch her, to ever have her looking back into my eyes. Her love was the very reason I stayed in this world, and it will stay within me for as long as time wills to continue.
I love you, Liara T'Soni.

Just thought I'd mention that I tried LotSB after the Suicide Mission on my last ME2 playthrough, and I have to say, it just doesn't work for me. There's three lines that just don't fit when done after:

1. Liara: "It's been two years, we're different people, you have your mission-"

2. Liara: "Not just what you tell your crew to keep morale up"

3. Shepard: "I'm tired, tired of dealing with Cerberus, tired of the Council-"

Also, this is off-topic, but so far I find it enjoyable to have Ashley alive in ME3.

How in the world do those lines not fit? She's referring to the fight against the Reapers, and Cerberus is still a group she hates even if she had to work with them.

1:
I always believed Shepard searched for ways to stop the Reapers out of his own initiative in the time between ME2 and Arrival. He still traveled the galaxy.

2:
See 1. The team was still with him.

3:
Saved the base it makes perfect sense.  And the dialog is avoidable if necessary.

I guess, but still, works way better before. Also I did it after Arrival.

Yeah, but they don't have a mission anymore and were probably being dropped of one by one.

I know, but I didn't save the base (this was my new main playthrough meant to replace my old one.) And I like that dialogue option! My Shepard -is- frustrated.

In conclusion, I'll be going back to having it placed before the SM. Will probably wait until right before the Reaper IFF to do it though, as a last minute finishing up business before going on incredibly dangerous mission.

If you did it after Arrival, then it is your own fault for it not making sense.

Yeah, but they don't have a mission anymore and were probably being dropped of one by one.

Shepard still had people who followed him out of loyalty.

Fair enough. I save the base and even then I still pick the "Worried" option.

Doing LOTSB before the SM is a great disservice to both the Illium cameo and the picture scene IMO.

The first issue is easily solved by having some time pass between going to Illium for the first time and doing LotSB. As for the picture scene, I disagree, it is just as powerful when their relationship is repaired as it is before it is. Now it is just a matter of "Will I ever see my love again?" rather than "If I survive I will fix this".
