I still think it works better before the SM :happy::wizard::wub::?:o

Doing LOTSB before the SM is a great disservice to both the Illium cameo and the picture scene IMO.

The first issue is easily solved by having some time pass between going to Illium for the first time and doing LotSB. As for the picture scene, I disagree, it is just as powerful when their relationship is repaired as it is before it is. Now it is just a matter of "Will I ever see my love again?" rather than "If I survive I will fix this".

The power of the Illium cameo and the picture scene is bound together because they are about the same thing, the darkest hour of the romance with seemingly fact that everything is seemingly lost between them. The picture carries so much more emotions since it shows a far pained and troubled Shepard.

That is well made. Is it from the game itself or?

Illium is about that, yes, and it would still be if you just do LotSB later on, right before the IFF mission. Plenty of time for pained Shepard. The picture scene doesn't have to be a part of that, it can be part of what I mentioned while being equally powerful emotionally.

Edit: Yay, import flag fix for LotSB in ME3 worked.

But we never truly have scene that shows it then have we? We only have headcanon then, but with the picture scene we will finally see it. So I do believe the picture scene and the Illium cameo are tied together and removing one kills the other.

I still disagree, I don't think a scene to show it is necessary. I think the picture scene is still just as valuable but for completely different reasons this way. Anyway, don't think we're getting any further here.

Something completely different: I really like the little messages from the Datapad app. They also seem to indicate that Shepard spent more time with Liara than we see in the game (Of course I assumed that anyway, but it's nice to see it actually referenced.)

Turnabout is fairplay:
How would your Shepard want to describe Liara for future cycles?

Dr. Liara T'Soni was a Asari Archeologist blessed with a brilliant mind and compassion as endless in its depth as her dazzling blue eyes.  Her character and friendship shed a bright light through the darkness that surrounded the many people she met during this troubling time, and was greatly valued by those few who she considered close friends and no more so than in the eyes of One Commander (insert name) Shepard.   She was his light, his love, and in more than one instance his savior;  She was the in the Commander's humble opinion the best exhibit of compassion and love the Galaxy had ever produced and he was glad to call her first and foremost a friend.

So I've been suffering from a massive writers block, which I seem to have kicked finally, here's a teaser of my fourth chapter in my ending rewrite~!
click~!
Edit: A poll I just made, it's to where people stand on what should've happened to Shepard.

Liara has the nerve to actually take part in the game and talk to Shepard and show her face, so no, Vega isn't more hated than she is. He keeps out of the way and you barely have to see him.

I'm confused. I voted for Garrus because it seemed fitting, expecting millions to disagree with me, but somehow he's in the lead. Hmm....

Frankly not understanding why ppl dislike Liara. Or rather hate. I keep seeing comments that the char was shoved / forced on them; on missions, dialogues. Thing is, who else is there to give info about Protheans, have knowledge about them, etc, etc. Another new char? I don't know. If they don't like to talk her all that much, they can just bypass the unimportant conversations, don't meet her about her project nor on a date, etc.

Thus far, in all the games, I played, I don't have a char I disliked; bar the baddies of course. Image IPB

How bout a real live Prothean?:P I quite enjoyed Javik bursting her bubble on a few things.

Anyway the "forcing" claims against Liara are two-fold. First people feel weird that Liara still cares for Shepard even if they've told her off. Second people feel Bioware themselves is pushing Liara on them due to the abundance of her content and the scarcity of other LI content. They're related of course.

To the first, I can say that I never felt forced on anything regarding Liara. She's not my canon romance but I appreciate that she still cares for me. As for the second comparisons of the quantity and quality of LI content do speak for themselves. There is reason for other LI supporters to resent Liara I'm afraid.

While I'm here I might as well say that I still felt a general sense of aloofness from her in ME3, similar to ME2 (which is weird given the ridiculous claims that she's so in love with Shep she makes passes at every opportunity). Obviously the "name  in the stars" thing is an exception but apart from that I think they still haven't gotten it right since ME1.

Javik's around if the player buys the DLC. Otherwise, he's not there. Image IPB And even if he is; he's a soldier, not a scientist. All he can do is fill in blanks about Prothean civilization, the war with the Reapers from his own VP and his observations about the races in the current cycle. Salarians for dessert, anyone? Salarian curry?  Image IPB I feel that protheans didn't seem to view Salarians as anything but sumptious delicacies. ... yuck .. maybe they were in a less evolved form then. ... hopefully. ..  come to think of it. I wonder if Mordin ever knew about that exchange. I would love to see an actual dialogue between Javik and Mordin.

Ditto on the aloofness from Liara. I was puzzled too by the said 'passes by Liara. Erm... when? Where? I played a femShep not romancing Liara in the initial round and I don't remember getting any passes from her. I just feel that she's a friend who obviously loves Shepard very much (her gift in London. I was extremely surprised and touched by it and was sorry that femShep wasn't romancing her).

I only have Kaidan and Liara as LI. Didn't do the others because I was frankly not interested although I tried Jacob, Thane and Garrus just to see how they're scripted and their dialogues but all three never made it although I really feel very bad about Garrus; I rejected him when he went to Shep all dressed up and with a bottle too. (Sorry old friend.)

I have to admit that on a default run, Liara seems sort of forced on you. Especially when you think of it from the perspective of a new player. A few of the new female players have asked me : 'is the female shepard gay?

I told them: 'She might as well be.'

I honestly think that was the intent with a ME3 default freckleshep. The ME3 defaults cholor scheme dosen't work  as effectivly with the other L.I. (I have to admit I also ship MshepxFshep...just because..:innocent:)

Did anyone else here notice Shepard gets 'saved' alot more in ME3.

I am not sure I follow, what do you mean by aloofness? that she is not around much when in a relationship or...?

It seems like people equate intimacy with romance. You can have an intimate, caring friendship and it be totally platonic (which is how I saw Liara's if you didn't romance her). She had no friends prior to ME1 and they formed a tight knit group fighting Saren. She even waged a one man woman war against the Shadow Broker to get Shepard's body back all on the slight chance Cerberus could bring her/him back to life. No other squadmate did. She obviously cares a lot about Shepard, probably more than any other non-romanced squadmate. That's just her character. She is probably the most caring and empathetic character in the game.

Add that to her versatility as the only character that survives every game (and thus, is definitely there for every player) and her duel role as Shadow Broker & leading Prothean expert, and you have your explanation as to why she is so prominent.

I have a general question for everyone (probably been brought up before, but still...).

What outfit do you give Liara in ME3?

I give her the white heavy armour. I think, since there is a war on, she needs greater protection. It's like 'Battle Liara' or something. Same with Tali, I give her the second one (I think) that has more armour on the helmet/waist. I also wanted her to (mainly) be wearing something different then what she was in the last game. I think it's too weird to see Liara in an Alliance outfit and takes away from the idea that this is all the races working together, not an Alliance Op. The red/black version of her coat might have been interesting but I have a hard time justifying why she'd switch from one jacket to another to go into battle (don't wanna get it dirty with blood stains?).

And I'm still peeved that they don't wear what you assign them while they're on the Normandy. But BW seems to do this across all their games. Still, annoying...

I normally switch between the phantom armor her justicar outfit and the SB armor.   I never thought that heavy armor really fit her character.

The C.E outfit. Out of all the alternate outfits in the C.E Liaras C.E and Sheps hoodie are my favorite. The most useless thing in the C.E is the dog. I thought the C.E outfit looked more battleish then her SB outfit.

I just found a picture for this one...

I wonder if this was scrapped. Or we might get it in another DLC. Still not a fan of the Alliance logo being on there, but it's (IMO) the right 'type' of armour for Liara. Maybe replace the red with blue.

Would be cool if she ever gets some asari commando leathers. Maybe a gift from dad? =]
