The common people living on earth probably can't even tell one Asari from another. Since all interspecies business is handled through the citadel, I don't think any aliens ever visit earth. That said, the common human who has never ventured into space (probably plenty of those even after humanity became a council race) probably has never even seen an Asari first hand, only in extranet vids or something.

I imagine earth will be pretty beaten up by the time ME3 ends, possibly so demolished it would take hudreds of years to fully rebuild the developed countries, I don't see why Shepard would spend quality time with Liara living there, apart from maybe a few years helping to coordinate the rebuild effort. For Spacer or Colonist Shepard, earth is just another human controlled planet. Yes it's the planet where humanity began but it doesn't seem to mean anything special for those Shepards who weren't born there.

Edit: Top Liara pic. Since we're all talking about how it should end, how about a picture of how it all began:

I'll have to agree, the only Shep that would care about the Earth is Earthborn Shepard, but knowing that he/she had a pretty rough childhood on Earth I am not sure if he/she would want to go back to live there. I think an asari colony ot a human colony is where Shep and Liara would settle down. For somereason I don't think Illium would be a good place to raise kids though :-/

Yes, how it all began, and if you recruited Liara as the last mission before going to Ilos, her dialogue is pretty funny. But, there's no hope for romance doing it that way :(

most probably wouldnt go back to earth after ME3 but of course, my shepard is different. my paragon spacer would not raise children on a random ship or colony out in the void for a reason

my shepard retires to earth to be with liara and start a family. shepards daughters grow up alongside human children and watch their families work together to rebuild the human homeworld

shepard and liara would raise their daughters on earth, teach them embrace humanity so one day, when shepard is gone, they have something to hold on to and somewhere to call home

@Tommy6860

Apparently you can still romance her even if you pick her up last. Pick her up and talk to her, do a few assignments and talk to her again, start romance. A few more assignments later talk to her for the 3rd time and you should be all set. Though you'll likely miss out on the locker scene since it is initiated automatically after activating the galaxy map after completing the 4th hub world. I always go to Therum first before doing anything else so I didn't do this myself.

Can someone shed some light on this? Also what were to happen if you romanced Ashley, even got her to show up at the locker and THEN romance Liara using the method mentioned above. With no more hub worlds to complete they won't confront you in the comm room so what will happen?

The way it worked for me was that it defaulted me to Liara, either because I did her romance talk last, or because I started her romance after starting it with Kaidan.

Leia Shepard doesn't want to live in either Alliance or Council space.  Which is the reason Shepard and Liara moved to Illium.  She is a spacer kid and like Robhuzz stated.  Earth is very tore up.  As far as I am concerned.  There is really no place in galaxy that won't know who Shepard is at the very least.  That is how I see it for my Shepard anyway.

Yes, you can romance Liara even if you recruit her last.  I did that on my very first play through.  I just talked to her often while working on missions for Hackett before going to Virmire.  Shepard got confronted by Kaidan and Liara after Virmire.  Sorry, Ash.  You got left behind.

@Grunt Lord.  Thanks.  I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I got the locker scene.  I got confronted by Kaidan and Liara after Virmire.  I just talked to Liara after doing the missions for Hackett and I think I do most of them before going to Virmire when I realized that was the next main story mission I had left.

EDIT:I'll record my  next ME playthrough and confirm what I remember doing on my first play through.  Since then I always get Liara first.

Thanks for the answers Ladyvader and TMA. Though I was thinking what'll happen if you do:
Feros --> Noveria -->Virmire -->Therum or any other order where Therum is last. After completing therum in this example you should be whisked to the citadel and have your ship impounded. Then the locker scene shows (presumable with Ashley because you get ninjamanced unless you're incredibly mean to her) and then you can talk to Liara. Do a few assignments to make sure you get all 3 of Liara's conversations and get a romance going, THEN go through the MU relay to Ilos. What'll happen in such a scene because technically you're in romance with both Ashley and Liara at this point with no more time for a comm room confrontation.

TMA already explained it then switches to Liara (Good since Liara is obviously the better choice) but would that happen even in this case? I can't bear to do the entire ME1 game minus a few assignments without Liara so if anyone can give me an answer that'd be great.

@Robhuzz. I start a playthrough tonight and do that order. Feros->Noveria->Vermire->Therum It will be Kaidan instead of Ash. I will use a femShep. One of two I was planning on making before March. Then I will let you know how it turns out. It will take a few days to get through. So bare with me.

Don't worry about taking a while. I'm just curious as to what will happen. I doubt I'll ever pick up Liara last, it's as if the Normandy automatically heads to the Artemis Tau cluster the moment I activate the galaxy map for the first time.

I here you on that. I like having Liara's biotics with me. Liara, Tali, and a soldier Shep. All you need. Or all I need anyway.

You posted a picture of how it began for Liara and Shepard. I'll post one on where they are right now.

Recruiting Liara last then romancing her just doesn't seem that good from a story-telling perspective.

Yeah, it always feels like you're taking advantage of her lack of sanity from being locked up for days.

Also the fact that the romance develop over incredible short-time considering it happens between Shepard and co. becoming fugitives and going to Ilos. Instead of evolving over the entire game.

Well at least us Liara fans don't have to worry about that since we all probably rush to Therum when we first get the chance ;D

Well, I do.

K where would your shep and Liara settle down at...should we start a poll or just talk about it?

Settle...down? Image IPB

Ultimate happy ending: Our Heroes blow up the Shadow Broker base, Liara goes back to archaeology, and Shepard helps her uncover knowledge of the species lost to the Reapers. Little blue children are raised on their Cool Ship.

Paragon-ish ending: They go into adventuring full-time. Plenty of bad guys left, after all. Little blue children are raised on the Normandy, with "help" from Uncle Jeff and Aunt EDI. Image IPB

Renegade-ish ending: They run the galaxy in secret as the Shadow Broker and her Enforcer Supreme. Little blue children are raised on the base, which is a lot more mobile post-war.

I do not know of this "settle down" thing you speak of. Image IPB

...okay, okay, I can kinda see them retiring on Thessia eventually, probably teaching various classes of pure awesome at Serrice University. Eventually.

Edit:

I agree, but BioWare allows us to do so.  So, I did it.

Liara: Wow strangers, we're criminals on the run now. And under the clock of time to save the galaxy. Yet we're stopping to kill random mercs here and there, and helping the Alliance with side missions, despite them hunting us.

You're special to me, Shepard. <3

Ehh. Don't see why I would have myself experience an inferior story just because I can.

Ehh. Don't see why I would have myself experience an inferior story just because I can.

Which is why I have many different playthroughs that I have played many different ways.  My first playthrough I didn't even realize how fast I did the main story missions until I got to Liara and went whoa, I need to do some side missions before going to Virmire.  That was the playthrough I picked her after going to Feros and Noveria first.

You can't set up the perfect story when you don't know the story yet.  Every playthrough since the first one, I picked up Liara first then went to Feros.
