But yeah I do think its a bit silly when games have a bar to represent your characters morality. I did like how in Fallout New Vegas you get a reputation with different groups of people, makes more sense.

Question - I want to fix the Liara romance bug and I just found out that Gibbed Editor can do it. I've used it for ME 2 and I tried for ME 3 but I can't make sense out of the latest. Just to be sure, I should download saveedit-r89 b110.zip file right?
Then to fix the bug, load your saved game and go under: Plot, Mass Effect 2, Romance and check the '[DLC: Lair of the Shadow Broker] Liara toured...' setting.
Ok, got it. It's strange, I could have sworn I did download the saved editor a month back but it didn't look anything like it is now; akin to the ME 2 editor. I couldn't navigate / open anything. Alright *rubs hands* down to one more round, lemme see what difference there is with Liara. I'm thinking not very much of course, just probably what she says.
P.S. It works like ME 2 right? I should do a save after I get control of Shepard in the initial opening scene and then edit from there, then begin afresh with that save.

Yeah, I didn't like that "human way" thing either. But the story was still funny as a whole, in my opinion. :happy:Erenbe wrote...
Regarding "Totaly worth it". I do like it to some extent but I am very conflicted about it for some of the reasons that were already mentioned here. It's well written as most of Rae's fics are but at times I am not sure whether to like it or not. The biggest beef I have is with the "conceiving the human way"....it just seems so...weird. Why should this be important to Shepard in that context is one of my biggest questions. Don't mind the toys....that is acceptable....but the way it's enacted...hmm, not sure about that really!
I totally prefer the Can Wait series and so far haven't found anything that rivals it.Shepard had a fantasy about it but didn't really care that much of it, but still agreed to it as it was so important to Liara."...when I conceive, I want it to be... special. Human. For Shepard's benefit. She has been very patient and understanding, willing to learn my species' mating rituals, so it seems only fair that I return the favor."
- "You want to conceive the way humans do."
"As close as possible, yes."
- "Does she know about this?"
Liara shook her head.
...*snip*...
"Oh, sweetie, we don't have to do it this way... If you'd just told me..."
It's great that Rae herself acknowledges that it's not "perfect", it's written by request, so there's even a warning about it:"Warning: Okay, I know one person's kink is another person's squick, so I have NO idea what words/actions/ect might set certain people off. If you read something you don't like (although I think this is pretty vanilla), just cover your ears, close your eyes, and start shouting "lalalalalalala" as loud as you can."
I had no problem with "Totally Worth It" because like you pointed out, the whole bit about human way came from a fantasy of Shepard's that wasn't really as important to her as doing whatever Liara was comfortable with was. Liara actually points out that Shepard has gone out of her way to learn Asari mating rituals for Liara and that this was something Liara wanted to do for Shepard based off of Shepard's fantasy. Personally, I took the story as a hilarious ME version of a fantasy that people I know have expressed in real life when going through the expensive process of trying to have kids in an unconventional method so the idea that Shepard would have a similar fantasy doesn't strike me as odd.

As I recall the earliest versions of ME3 editor were very basic, little more than an interface to manually retrieve and set flags/variables. I could be remembering it wrong though, it's been a while and I only used it like once or twice back then.Obsidian Gryphon wrote...

As for when to use it - to fix Liara's dialogue bug, you just have to use it any time before actually speaking to Liara aboard the Normandy for the first time. As far as I know that is the only dialogue affected (basically, instead of saying it's been years since you've been together she says she'll always remember that tour of the Normandy).
edit: serious lack of blue in this topic lately, so let's rectify that with a couple of screens from that scene...

Absolutely. Sarcastic ladyhawke is the best.
I too would rather they do away with the morality system completely. Or if they keep it, just don't let it influence anything, let it be there for the sole purpose of showing the player where his/her character stands on the scale. Instead give your character a proper personality defined by your action and let npcs react to that.
Individual affection/approval from companions also works a lot better I recon and even though it wasn't flawless in DAO or TOR I like it a lot better than a simple good/evil scale. This system is really limited.

Renegade Shep did get a few good sarcastic comments. My favourite was back in ME1 when a squaddie points out the mission is a trap and Shepard responds with: "your grasp of the obvious is awe inspiring(!)"
I think Shepard is more of a dead pan snarker while Hawke is more smug, the posh english accent helps.

Players like me are stuck with Renegade or Paragon. I'm only jealous of your game.

At least Kotor supported Gray Jedis, like Jolee Bindo.
ME offers more freedom, but no one will care if you play bipolar Shepard. At least Liara acknowledges Shepard's reputation a little bit, but it's not enough.

Same here.
I'm still clinging on to the Mass Effect universe. Stuck in ME3 multiplayer too. It has been the only game I've played since March 5th.
I too have loads of games waiting to be played, like Witcher 2 and almost 200 other games on Steam.
But I really don't feel like playing anything now, or in the future. Mass Effect 3 honestly killed my interest in gaming.
But I have to thank it for getting me to find fanfics and fanart.
I hate that the businessmen already got their money so they really have no reason to go and fix stuff (not just the ending). I really hope that somewhere in the future there would be a remake of the whole series with all the suggestions that the fans have collected so far. There's so much great stuff by fans that go way over what we actually got.

For a pure smut fic, I have to say that it's very well-written and narrated. And I don't have a problem with Liara wanting to experiment with certain human elements there. However, I found the actual conception anti-climatic as opposed to the explosion of feelings and thoughts Shepard and Liara shared in '...Can Wait', especially on Ilos. I believe that since Liara is the mother, this is exactly where Rae could have expanded and brought the mind melding on a whole new level. And Liara would have wanted it that way, so I'd say she acts a bit out of character in her decision. And I just don't see her with a sex toy, especially in such a crucial point in her life.
As soon as I had finished the '...Can Wait' series, I immediately asked whether Rae had written a fic where Liara conceives, one that further explores on the asari joining, a culmination of sorts. Now that will be something I want to read, since not only is it more in-character, knowing Rae's writing talent, it'll be something amazing and mind-blowing if she sets her mind to it.

Just for background, I play guitar and participate in a monthly music challenge, where our hostess Jude sets a musical style or premise and we get around 2 weeks to write an original piece to suit. It's not a competition, just some like-minded musicians trying new things.
Last year sometime, the theme was "ballads". I don't (can't) sing so all my emotion has to come through my guitar. I was at the height of my ME powers at this time so I chose Liara as my inspiration and often mash my gaming and musical life together. It's a bit old school sounding, but I think it turned out well. I ad libbed the vast majority so you're getting my raw Liara love too lol. Hope you enjoy.

Of course I would enjoy a remake that added more everything. There is always room for improvement. It's just the way you phrased it made it sound like what we have now is inadequate, and I don't think that's the case since if it was then it wouldn't be our favorite series, right? Maybe I overreacted to what you said due to being a bit tired of negativity.

A series can be inadequate in lots of ways and still be amazing. Mass Effect, especially 3, definitely fits that. I've never been so invested in anything fictional, yet I can still point out flaws and go into detail on things I wish the games would've done.
Especially when it comes to the Asari and Liara.

I have to admit, I hate that Liara finally conceives a child with Shepard...but does it in a human way, using a sex toy, and in a humor based fanfic that completely kills a lot of the emotion and power that moment should've had. And I agree with you that Liara using a sex toy like that is out of character.
It just...grates on me. It's pretty much a porn fanfic so Liara conceiving there is just really out of place, I think, and should've been reserved for another fanfic on the level of "...Can Wait".
Which, hopefully, Rae will do. It's not like she can't make two versions.

I don't know whether there's any continuity between Rae's other fics, but I hope that this is not considered a continuation of her "...Can Wait" series, because the build-up of the other stories has certainly been fantastic and mind-blowing. The potential for a proper end of the series is enormous and I wouldn't like to see it go to waste, because she can clearly write tasteful in-character fics beautifully.

I read the fic mentioned and something bothered me about it aswell. I suppose you put some words on it for me.
I'll be blunt and say that I found both "Totally worth it" and "Hagalaz can wait" very poor and tasteless, a rather stark contrast to the other two fics written by the same author.
