What I loved about the "...Can Wait" series was that it wasn't just an erotic fan fiction, but an erotic fan fiction written by someone who gets the characters and gets the intricacies of the relationship (not just between Shepard/Liara but between an asari and a human, as well). Rae's interpretation of asari primal urges is very clever and believable. My shep wouldn't be offended by a Liara invisible brand just saying:whistle:

It’s good, I like it! You should write more. I don’t really have any criticism, constructive or otherwise…perhaps on the second read. I’d have left a comment but don’t have a dA account.

Comments and FFN reviews are a tricky beast. From what I can tell, I seem to have around 400 regular readers, but only one person regularly leaves a chapter review/comment. I assume the others like it since they haven’t stopped reading, but you know…:happy:

I personally don't enjoy pretty much any of her fanfics aside from "...Can Wait". None of them except for that series have the emotional impact that one does, or are as tasteful. But, to move beyond that...I wanted to say I really agree with you on how impressive it is - Rae's depiction of the Asari need to meld.

Said it before but that was the thing that struck me the most powerfully in the entire "Can Wait" series, is in Illos, when Liara first...desires it from Shepard. It's so significant because it's the way it happens - by this point in the fanfic you're starting to get into the groove of things and classify it as just a well written porn fic but not much more...and then that moment elevates it.

And it's the way Liara practically begs Shep to let her do it, it's downright painful for her to hold herself back. It's not just something Asari can do casually to spice up sex, as you might think it is from the games. And then they actually do meld...and it goes beyond just "sharing physical senses" as a lot of fanfic writers portray it. It's just...really powerful stuff.

Don't take this the wrong way - I'm honestly curious, not trying to accuse you of anything - but how much of this is what you really feel, and how much is just...colored by Neeh's rather...reluctant post?

What if he had posted saying it encouraged him to make more sexual stuff rather than making him not want to? Would you still have said he shouldn't? What if Mally posted in here, would you encourage her to reel it in a bit rather than going deeper, like she seems to be trying?

If you tell me you would've said the same thing no matter what Neeh posted, and you'd encourage the same of Mally, I'll believe you - I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, I'm just curious.

On the subject of images of nudie Liara, the mod boys over at SkyrimNexus do some great work with the other races in Skyrim, including a blue skinned race of dark elves and a 'scaley' skinned lizard-like race with similar head decoration. I'm not saying Liara is like a Lizard of course, but she has definitely developed a few more 'scales' over the years. If someone cleverer than I had a look over there, maybe they could do some conversions?

Like I said, I'd want them to do whatever they want - it's up to the artist. Like I said, they both seem to cover different areas, so we get more variety, more 'bases are covered' (my direct reply to Neeh). Mally does more sexual stuff, Neeh keeps it romantic and sometimes humourous. I like that they cover different areas, rather than doing double duty. Really, I'm just repeating what I already posted (did you read any of it?) and I know you said you're not trying to pick a fight, but I really don't get the point of your question (especially targeting me, if that is in fact the case). Saying you don't want a fight yet hinting that you think I'm duplicitous, makes you seem quite hypocritical.

Hi, I'm not afraid to do a naked Liara. I am a fan of FemShep the same as Liara , especially their relationship. And because every other doing Liara, so I focused on FemShep. But still I prefer more intimacy rather than a fully naked look.

But there was some small bits of ideas that were interesting.

Neehs told what he'd want to do and I just want to encourage him. I just wanted to say that there are people who appreciate the non-sexual stuff too even if the sexual pictures are in much higher demand.
I'm not someone to order people to do what I want them to do, unless I'm paying for it. But I can always encourage.
By the way Mally is a he (atleast it says so in dA).

Thumbs up. Nicely written. Is there a second secret forthcoming?   Intrigued by the line about bone weave grafts ... I've always of a mind that Shep would live past 120, considering the upgrades she received. Too, there's Miranda Lawson who pronounced she had twice the lifespan of a human due to her improved gentic makeup.. Wouldn't Cerberus scientists deconstruct how she was created? Come to think of it, they were probably the ones who created it. In which case, it could have been used on Shep. And who's to say there wouldn't be more breakthroughs to improve the human lifespan?

All in all, I don't want Liara to lose Shep too soon.

No, I didn't care for Taken. The whole pheromone marking thing...it bugs me because it's not really...consensual? Shepard doesn't even know what Liara did to her. This after mind melding is a wholly cooperative process and Liara can't do things Shepard doesn't want her to. It's also too possessive - and I find it a bit out of character for Liara.

That is, it makes her out to be a bit too...aggressive, I think. That kind of jealousy and snippy bickering is something the games reserve for the other LI's, and Liara usually holds herself to being better than that. I'm not saying she'd put up with them making moves on Shepard, but I think she'd go about clarifying things in a certain way, especially when it's because they simply don't realize Shepard isn't "available", as is portrayed in the story.

As far as "By Any Other Name" - okay, that was a good story. I hadn't read it before so I had to stop and read it. Of course, Liara herself is not a main focus of it, so it'd be why it hasn't come up before when people want to discuss Rae's Liara focused fanfics.

I do like how it covers a lot of squadmembers views on Shepard, in the future, and the way their children all act differently and regard Shepard and their namesakes in different ways fitting their races - that's all really interesting, and fitting. That is a well done story.

Edit - Oh and your quote from that Rae story about the Joining...yeah, that's part of what I was getting at. I might not like the rest of the fanfic, but that is a good excerpt, and I really like that interpretation of the Joining as being so integral to an Asari.

I am confused though about that double standard....not that I need genitals on computer rendered characters (Liara, etc) but why add them to Banshees? And they do have some sort of fake nipple if you want to be picky. So apparently it's ok to model them if the "thing" that has them is an ugly monster. 


Edit: for some Aethytia/Liara interaction I can highly recommend "Euphemisms" by Rae. I found that utterly amusing

I didn't see it as something Liara consciously did to Shepard. There was nothing to ask permission about because she couldn't help it, it's part of asari biology. I honestly can't see anything possessive or aggressive about it, as it's not something that she did on purpose. It was just something that happened on its own and it was so normal to Liara that the need to explain it to Shepard didn't even cross her mind.

You've talked a lot about liking the fact that Liara is an alien, so I thought you'd like that marking idea too, because it's alien. Humans have pheromones too but not in a way we acknowledge them, they're indifferent to us.
One reason I really like it is because it could be used to write many awkward funny and cute fanfics.

Totally agree, Im a sucker for romance so anything romantic involving Liara and Femshep that makes me go "dawwwwww" is ok in my book .

Dont forget that its ok if the thing that hes them is a robot! I swear, the *ehem* modeling on EDI in a particular outfit REALLY caught me off guard .

Hm, are you sure you're talking about the right story? I know there's a couple of them out there with a similar motive, maybe you're confusing it with one of those? Because in Taken, the 'marking' is not something Liara does intentionally, she's actually more than a little embarrassed about it. There's also no mention of anyone else coming on to Shepard or Liara being jealous about it.

Yeah, I think we're talking about different fanfics here.
The asari are not making moves on Shepard, they're just acknowledging that Shepard is in a relationship with another asari. Liara is not jealous of anyone, but was really embarrassed. Of course there's that Rae's thing about making Shepard seem kind of renegade saying "Liara belongs to me", that I don't care for but it's easily skipped over. Tho it works better in this one than in other fics as it's explained by "I can't blame you for doing the same thing.".

Definitely give it a look, I love the way Rae always finds a way to bring up the fact that despite everything thats happened, somehow that awkward scientist manages to show herself in Liara's character.

EDIT: and the conversation shep has with Aethyta is hilarious.
